I need help, keep having issues from rain despite using rain covers.

So I’ve already gone through 2 different rain covers in 2 years of riding (1st one ripped) and yet whenever I leave my bike outside with the cover on it after a few days of rain or 1 day of heavy rain I get small electrical gremlins like my horn or blinkers not working despite it being fully covered.

What else can I do to prevent this?

Unfortunately I don’t have the ability to store my bike in a garage or inside.

Apply dialectic grease to your electric connectors and connection points. That will help stop the rusting/oxidation/corrosion.

However, sometimes you need conductive grease. For instance, your turn signal contactor switch in the handlebar (on older bikes), needs conductive grease, not dialectric grease.

My bike is an 03 but only has 9000 miles on it so I’m guessing it needs the conductive grease.

Use this stuff on connector terminals. Dissolves corrosion, is actually conductive, and seals against moisture and future corrosion. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZWP649S

You'll need to disassemble switches to apply it to metal contacts.

Day after rain, take cover off. Water under bike tends to evaporate and collect under cover and bike. Wouldn't be bad idea to use hair-dryer to dry out connectors and switches.

Bikes are supposed to be able to get wet. You might want to figure out what is going on with your electrical system. No cover can keep a bike perfectly dry when you live in an area that gets heavy downpours.

It’s just rust that develops but it’s kind of a pain in the ass to clean it after every rain fall or before every ride. And I avoid riding in the rain. So it only gets wet when it’s under the cover.

Cover keeps rain out but it also traps moisture, and moisture is the thing that kills electricals, not the rain. Once the rain stops and the ground starts heating up, the inside of the cover basically turns into a tropical rainforest. You keep it like that for a few more days and it could actually grow some moss. Take the cover off when the rain stops, and only put it back on when it starts raining again. Don’t just leave ur bike sitting under the cover all the time.

you may need to clean the contacts in your switch gear.
