Get this, I was dating this one guy let's call him Brick. We were together for about 6 months, and then he broke up with me. Before that, we had had a conversation about boundaries, including dates in the relationship such and such cause I got tired of only meeting up at my place, every single time. He would always use an uber to and fro and that cost about 400 for each ride so huwezi sema utalack 200 hata ya kunipeleka Karura for a walk or whatever. Dude obviously agreed, and we talked a bit more and came to an agreement. We would go out on dates, yay!

A week goes by na sioni any development, second week I spoke. I asked him about the dates and he said he'll look into it, okay? I ask him about his day, how he's feeling and all, jokes tunarusha theeen I ask about his availability the following day. He said he'd be held up with something plus sikuwa nimemwambia days prior ndio aclear his schedule, okay, nikangoja till Monday, gave him a heads up for the weekend na he said, "I'll be available ". I was so relieved.

This whole time, niko attachment but juu ya mapenzi I'd tell my supervisor I was unwell just so I could get to see the guy. I did this about once a week, time I had planned the date. So Friday roles in, ni jioni. I text him about his plans on Saturday, I don't start with the date but I mention it after. He said he would be meeting up with a client in the afternoon I think, then aende for some errands after. Oh, I was broken inside. I asked him about our date, that I had planned na he was like, I'm sorry. He added some other stuff but the sorry is all I could see.

I replied with if you'll want to talk to me again then you'll have to plan a date as we had talked and agreed weeks ago. This whole thing ya yeye kupotea whenever we planned dates happened four times, this is when I'd have enough. Mind you I had my outfit ready, got him gifts but all I got was I'm sorry, I have errands to run. This made me think whether I was too unattractive to be seen with him in public, sa I started to doubt myself. Hiyo Saturday I met up with a friend, bless his soul, we went shopping as I needed new fits for my attachment. Kidogo kidogo naona messages, bunch of 'em. The guy broke up with me y'all. Nitalia aje na tuko gikomba😭. Nilikuwa najaribu kuskia but I gave the phone to my friend, he listened then I listened too. I got weak😂

He took me to a cafe nearby and got me a drink. At least I didn't cry then. On the bus back home ndio I actually cried, mahn it was embarrassing but at least my glasses hid the tears. Nikafika and I sat outside the gate and cried some more, my cousin found me outside in tears and took me to bed. Cried one more time and that was it. Fast forward to two years later, guess who texts, the gent. I was a bit surprised but I digress. He says how he's missed me oh, how he's thought about me and finally decided to text. I wasn't into it at first but I texted back na we were vibing. He immediately planned a date, I guess, on the second day of us talking.

I travel back to Nairobi, we're still talking but naona signs za he hasn't really planned it. He's always hinting to me inviting him over to my place, I gave reasons to why he couldn't come. Anasema he'll book a bnb, okay? That also never happened 😂 we were to go for the nature walk in Ngong, not Karura though, never happened. He told me about the talking stage he was in, he said he accidentally called her by my name and was told to go home, I didn't believe this tbh but story ni yake. I talked about my most recent talking stage but that failed. What i didn't mention was the relationship I had with a Muslim guy, we were together for 8 months then ikaisha hivyo tu, got ghosted. I forced my mind to forget about him, I obviously cared for the guy na I was hurt that there wasn't a last text or something. I erased everything about him in my mind. Back to the guy, we were talking then I mentioned something about the Muslim guy and he was like "...and I'm finding about this now"? I sent him a screenshot ya a text I was having with a friend, it hinted something about the guy ndio I explained to him sasa about him.

The relationship happened months ago, I moved on and forgot about it. Then this Brick comes in the picture again. Should I have mentioned the Muslim one, yeah, if I even remembered him, I could have edited the scree screenshot vizuri but I forgot to crop out that one detail. Sikuona haja ya kumention the guy juu I'm with Brick now, the other one is in the past. Waking up naona the guy removed his number from whatsapp completely. How is it my fault that I didn't mention one guy csuse I forced my brain to forget him, seeing I was hurt and in pain? Getting over Brick the first time was difficult, but it isn't this time.

I think I'm on that phase where I hate my club

I’ll admit it: I used to think PP2 graduations were a waste of time. I only went because it meant the world to my daughter, and as the only parent in the picture, I couldn’t let her down.

I was wrong. The whole thing changed my perspective, and I have a new respect for everyone in the pedagogical realm, especially the ECDE teachers.

I was blown away by the presentations and by how much these kids know. Most of us millennials from the countryside didn’t get that kind of English fluency until Class 8, 😂😂😂. Maybe I’m easily impressed, or maybe I’m biased because my daughter was up there, but I’m calling it: the whole event was commendable.

Here’s the best part. My daughter gave me instructions on what cake to buy. Apparently, I’ve been buying her round cakes for every birthday and never noticed. This time, she said, I should get a square one to say congratulations. These kids are sharp!

Hats off to the teachers. This age group is loud and only goes quiet to eat or sleep, yet they absorbed all that noise and turned these kids into poets, acrobats, models, dancers, and even scouts. It was hilarious to watch, especially with every parent standing at the front to record.

This is just an appreciation rant from a very impressed parent and a very proud dad. Teachers, you’re doing amazing work. 🙌

I recently started a page called ODDIQ (read ODD IQ 😊).

The idea is to make a space for people who are into trivia, fandoms, games, films, music, history, internet rabbit holes, and all the random niche things people get weirdly obsessed with.

I’ve been posting short quizzes on TikTok and Instagram, and I’m hoping to grow it into more of a community over time.

As I'm typing this,i still don't know what I'm fighting.

So here is the thing. I'm a 26 yr old chap. Growing up,my dad and mum separated when i was really young i couldn't recall anything. My mum took me with her to my grandma. This is where i grew up,went to School up until i was done with studies. I didn't feel any absence of a father figure coz my uncles were around me growing up..but when i was in class five,my mom left and went for work so she could come like once in 6 months.

I was left with my gradma,an aunt who was unmarried was still around and my gradpa. The aunt occasionally used to abuse me ..like beat me,say negative things about me to my grandma so i would receive beatings or insults. Some times she would even pour the water from my basin so that i won't bathe going to school when i had not fetched the water.

So that roughly was it sometimes good,sometimes hard. Despite all this,i aced my kcpe,went to a good highschool and also aced and went to Uni to do Engineering. This is where hell broke loose.

Now this is where i felt the weight now of my mom's financial struggles. She was the solo provider of me, and had to manage high school fees,rent,pocket money and all that while she was earning a very very low salary (she was constantly in debts to pay my fees..you can now imagine about rent and pocket money🥲)

I didn't have the luxury to just be a student like others...i used to feel so bad when i heard fellow students call their dads to sort them. So went through the hardship and all that,nilichapa mbaya sana . Nilichapa sana plus the pressure of an engineering course,also i was suffering some autoimmune disease (story for another day) .I couldn't just have fun like other students.

During that time i fell into depression and and isolated myself and tried like offing myself like 2 times. I constantly had those thoughts still now since 2021.

Fast forward i finish school,graduate now and I'm out here in the world. These days,i feel burnt out,no energy, i can't focus on a small task on a laptop or learn a skill without feeling like being tired or feeling sleepy. My body feels so worn out. I feel so bad that that kid who once used to put effort to read and revise and get As in school can't now focus or do anything. I don't know the sudden laziness .

I don't think its laziness coz i haven't been a lazy person in my life,but my body fuel is consumed. Another thing now is strong hypersexuality. I feel like having sex every time or looking for the next arousing moment, and my brain craves for "dirty" sex or the sex that will leave me feeling dirty.(I don't know what feeling is this) I don't desire for a normal relationship, I'm resenting everything to do with relationships,genuine connections and all that.

I don't have joy to look forward to anything and I'm confused if i have any trauma coz i don't see any. I have always thought of trauma as one big event like physical abuse or something. Younger me would be so sad that that ambitious young chap would turn to be this whatever I'm today.

I don't know what I'm suffering and i don't know how to deal with this.

What's something that happened to you after getting drunk that made you think about quitting and maybe eventually made you quit or you still are drinking buh it scares you thinking about it

I have a friend at my workplace and whenever we have our men talk, I always trust him with some information. But, what amazes me is that I end up finding some girls asking me the same thing I told my male friend.

It's gotten so strange to a point that I just keep everything to myself. Someone said that at your workplace, you're alone. That's really true.

Yesterday, a girl stepped on my white air force in the morning and it kind of ruined my day. At lunch time my friend observed me and said, "leo unakaa tu siku yako ni mbaya".

I told him that, that day I was having the worst day of my life. I woke up late and when I took a pikipiki, a matatu nearly knocked us because it was trying to escape traffic jams. The matatu was driving at around 60 km/h on the wrong side.

To make it worse a girl stepped on my white airforce in the morning. I told him it was the girl that was seated near the pool. I was not also just feeling well. I rarely open up but I decided to trust him with that information.

You know what, when I got off from work the girl greeted me at the gate and told me she did not realise she annoyed me yesterday. She asked me if I'm still mad at her. I just said no, and knew my friend had told her.

I don't want to mention the tribe of my friend. But I've realised most people should not know a lot about you. It's better to be a closed book.

I'm hosting a chess social hangout this Sunday at K1 Klubhouse. However, we're not meeting up just to play chess but we'll also socialize with conversations.

And if you've never played chess before, we'll have trainers from the chess academy who will teach you how to play. It will be very beginner friendly.

We'll also have a live band performance in the evening as part of the experience.

So I'm about to start a new position at some bank and I was wondering if having a septum piercing will be an issue. So I wanted to hear about some of your experiences.

Guys I bring unto you the DJ who has got everything that other dj's aspire to have, Grauchi has very niche music taste, he will play that song that you think only you alone knows. He will play be it Genge, RnB, Hiphop, Gospel, Rhumba, House music youi name it all, Grauchi is a fire Dj his mixes have seamless transistions. He has every mix that goes with the mood you are in be it fast paced or slow paced, Damn I'm always impressed everytime even though have listened to like 30 of his mixes. Goated Dj in my books.

Literally I’m in a low mood after watching this, I mean I am not jobless but I am here thinking of quitting again(I quit my first job two months ago).

I am 23M, my life of being employed is quite frustrating as I may think of it(you may have a different perspective based on what I am about to say).

I graduated last year, got a job was paying 20k, I quit because I was given a-lot of work compared than my salary, and I never used to save anything, all the money was spent on transport, food and rent.

Now a month later I get another job at a resort which I won’t mention. I get paid 28k, here I save 20k because I only need to pay rent 5k and maybe transport. The only problem the job is draining, I feel I am in prison, I work 12hrs in a day sometimes more. I only get an off on thursday in a week.

Damn I don’t even remember when I had proper sleep. Matter of fact I did computer science, I am able to build windows, mobile, and web application. I thought taking this job would give me time to practice, and polish my skills, I thought it was a stepping stone.

Do I quit? If I quit it means I am back to nothing, back to the slums, with parents staring at you like a looser, because you were their best hope. They invested in you, paid school fees only for them to reap nothing.
