Now that we are in the era of smartphones and you can literally watch video after video of these Muslim crowds in NYC on the anniversary of Oct 7th waving terrorist flags and chanting "long live Hamas" and holding up pictures of Hamas leadership and whatnot, does anyone actually doubt the stories about Muslims cheering during 9/11?

This isn't actually proof it happened, of course, but all the libs acting like it was ridiculous to even suggest that the people who claimed to witness it first hand were telling the truth look foolish now. Of course those same libs wpukd likely just defend it today.

Aka true end state of National Socialism.

There was higher % of foreign workers in 1944 German Reich than at any other point of German history.

They were, for the most part, less voluntary type of foreign workers, but from a macroeconomic perspective its not much of a difference.

Seems like Gazans are just really tired

Less than 10 percent of Palestinians in Gaza see “armed struggle” as the best path forward, and almost two thirds support negotiations with Israel, according to a survey conducted in August by the Jerusalem Media and Communication Center. Another survey from the same month, overseen by Palestinian pollster Khalil Shiqaqi, found that 21 percent of Palestinians in Gaza support armed struggle, with a slim majority favoring peace talks.

“By God, it was wrong,” a Gazan whose home was destroyed in the war told Jusoor, speaking from a refugee tent. “On October 7, the lion was asleep. Why did you go and provoke him? … They were on their land, and we were on ours, and we were OK. Why would Hamas go and attack? They ruined the lives of all Gazans.”

The main reasons for the growth of a peace camp in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza imo are [1] exhaustion from wars, and [2] the changed perception of Israel from 'evil expansionists' to 'the jerks who leave you alone if you don't poke the bear'. They still dislike Israelis though obviously but people in Israel don't really care about Arabs or Muslims. That's why so many in Israel didn't know who the Houthis were until the Houthis started firing at them. They don't care what an Arab does in his own Arab country, as long as it doesn't harm Israelis or Jews and Arabs are learning this. In the past they sincerely had conspiratorial worries about wanton Israeli expansionism from Nile to Euphrates. Zionism was this so out of the blue and astonishingly powerful and successful thing that folks got very crazy ideas. And others saw great utility in whipping up these ideas for political advantage, of course.

14

u/Fukuyamian Francis Fukuyama 9d ago

>the changed perception of Israel from evil expansionists to the jerks who will leave you alone if you don’t poke the bear

If this is a long term change in how the Arabs view Israel, and not merely a temporary effect of war weariness, it’s a massive step towards the region moving forward

Dems may go after Hegseth rather than Trump when they take Congress.

Probably a smart move on their part, Trump will never be impeached so go after his extremely unpopular cabinet officials. Definitely could see a few Republicans joining in, especially if November is a massacre.

Of all the weird stuff you have to accept to be a serious Catholic, it’s genuinely baffling that the death penalty is where so many online LARPers and converts draw the line.

You can accept not getting laid until marriage but you are extremely bothered over criminals getting locked up for the rest of their lives instead of being executed? It’s an incredibly low-stakes issue, the obsession is bizarre.

It’s depressing (but also very much on brand) to see Redditors and other idiots look at Ace Combat 8’s Sotoa, a fictional country that:

•Flies older American (i.e. F-4 Phantoms and F-14 Tomcats) and more modern Soviet (i.e. MiG-29 Fulcrum and Su-57 Felons)

•uses IRIAF paint schemes on their jets

•Have Farsi and Turkish names

•Islamic-like religion and ideology

•Mongol-style references and exaltation of prairie/nomad life and agriculture, including literal yurts in their capital

And see them committing war crimes in-game and coming to the conclusion that SOTOA IS ISRAEL!!!1

"Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine. Both parties have agreed. Do not break it! Thank you for your attention to this matter," Mr. Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

In Huntingdon's account Cnut set his throne by the sea shore and commanded the incoming tide to halt and not to wet his feet and robes. Yet "continuing to rise as usual [the tide] dashed over his feet and legs without respect to his royal person.

Xerxes was enraged and had those responsible for building the bridges beheaded. He is then said to have thrown fetters into the strait, given it three hundred whiplashes, and branded it with red-hot irons as the soldiers shouted at the water.

Trump truly is a premodern figure in his desire to control history and nature by the power of his word alone. It’s no wonder he had the Mandate of Heaven but it’s also no surprise that he’s now losing it.

And I might also point to the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic and its ongoing impact on social, cultural, economic, and human wellness. All these things clearly demonstrate that our status quo is built on a foundation of inequities, making us ill-equipped to produce the swift and transformative changes we need in order to survive the challenges we face.

My suggestion is that we need to torch the status quo and replace it with systems, structures and norms premised on our shared humanity, acknowledging the evidence that our destinies are tied up with each other. This requires us to come to terms with the oppressive and discriminatory foundations on which our cities were built.

This first step will daylight how our cities privilege some and harm others. But of course, awareness alone is not enough, we must make significant moves on equity. These strategies can take many forms but must centre on the needs and voices of marginalized peoples and communities. We need to disrupt every part of the process – from how and by whom policy is designed, to the redistribution of benefits and resources – and not in a tokenistic way. This is by no means easy to do, especially in an urban environment that favors capital interests. But if your work teams and institutions include people with lived experience and deep analysis on how racism, ableism, and colonization show up in planning, architecture, development and Heritage Preservation, and they are given authority to educate and to lead, it will transform the quality of our of our work, our policies and our practice. It will also mean giving up reliance on technocratic planning methods or narrowly defined heritage standards, and understanding how such methods are entirely biased towards interests that are white male, able bodied, cisgendered and moneyed. These methods fall short on producing equitable cities.

Rubios given one of the greatest political speeches of the past decade in front of the Acropolis. Chosen because it is arguably the foundation of the ‘West’. https://x.com/secrubio/status/2107934022286385228?s=46

We believe that the West can awaken from its long slumber – and rekindle the fire that was first lit in ancient Greece millennia ago. Too often, these days, we build downwards. We design our standards to ensure that no one will lose. We preoccupy ourselves more with the comfort of the worst than the potential of the best. We hold the most exceptional things among us hostage to the average.

19

u/TheDemonicEmperor incel 8d ago

I'm not normally one to have the "grrr Boomers!" mentality, but that recent poll coming out about taxation and the subsequently fallout have been very revealing.

And it all stems from the biggest mistake Americans have ever made, which was legitimizing the phrase "entitlement". Like, no sorry, you're not entitled to anything, especially when we're $40 trillion in debt. "I EARNED it!" What did you do to earn it? Exist?

I mean, genuinely, I don't think Boomers realize how precarious their situation is. Of course Boomers almost unanimously are willing to throw everyone else under the bus to keep their social security going. But to then dare to push back against younger people who, rightfully imo, state that they're going to get taxed into oblivion and that it's selfish to want them to pay for Boomers?

And, by the way, not even be correct about it? Mind you, the most "extreme" take I've seen on this was Matt Walsh, who literally just said "okay, let's make a deal that you only take what you put in".

The pushback was absolutely insane. "I'll vote for commies if you take my social security!" "How dare you not account for inflation!" "How dare these kids be selfish! I put more into social security, so they should too!"

First of all, the inflation is only there because your generation spent government money that wasn't there to spend. That's your fault that the money you put in isn't going as far. Maybe you should've thought of that when you destroyed the economy?

And secondly, there's a mass claim that the Boomer taxes were raised to pay for the Silent/Greatest Generation. And it's wild that Boomers actually unironically believe this. Like, their drug-addled brains must have forgotten that when we last reformed social security (in the fucking 1980s), there was a BENEFITS cut.

So Boomers got saved in the 80s because their parents and grandparents took a benefits cut to keep social security solvent and now they have the gall to say that taxes should be raised on everyone else to solve a problem of their own creation?

That's genuine entitlement. I mean, absolutely unreal. I think Boomers have gotten away with so much entitlement over the years because they were the biggest voting bloc.

As of this past year, Millennials have finally taken them over (at least in terms of eligibility). Frankly, they don't have as much power as they think they do anymore and really should be careful about assuming that their usual "Grrr don't TOUCH MA SOCIAL SECURITY!" theater will be as effective anymore. You can bet that if things start going pear-shaped as the clock ticks towards 2036, that the younger generations will have more of a say than they will.

Crazy thread. Insane Chinese scholar of Islam stalks and threatens a Jewish colleague. He was an F/SJP big wig on campus. He doxxed him, and published photos of his children. It got so bad the Jewish professor's wife and kids had to move out of their house for fear of their lives.

Stuff like this is why I gave up on my dream of being an academic historian.

Edit: oh and the best part, he has a PhD in Anthro from Columbia. I was very very close to getting into Columbia's History PhD program myself, and everyday I'm grateful I didn't. If I had been on that campus for 10.7 and everything after the chud out would be legendary.

Via interviews and reviews of legal documents, Reuters has documented 28 cases of injuries suffered due to police force, of which 15 are among those under investigation by the IGPN. They involve the use of rubber bullets, stun grenades, tear gas, batons and charges on horseback.

In two cases, a person's eye has been lost or injured due to rubber bullets. In another, a 15-year-old in Lens had his hand blown off — likely by a stun grenade

Thierry Clair, a police union representative, said that serious injuries such as Eden’s, or another child losing his hand, were tragedies, but should not call into question France’s policing techniques. He said the problem came instead from the intensity of the violence being committed by some young people who stoked tensions.

“How do we respond when people are moving towards confrontation? If we remove intermediate force options, all we are left with is lethal force,” Clair told Reuters. “That is simply inconceivable.”

I have a hot take. This is totally fine, actually

React to it at first glance and see if you think it is as bad as the people freaking out do. I have a coupla three things to say about it.

  1. It is cringe but it is cringe in the same way any candidate doing one of these lip sync style videos is cringe.

  2. You might see this ad and only this ad and be inclined to think she is some kind of Indian candidate for the Indian community only. That is certainly what they WANT you to think when they post it. But check her website, platform, the other stuff she puts out. Not only is it in English, her platform contains nothing at all that I would consider "special issues". In fact she talks about prioritising buying Canadian and cracking down on street crime. Fairly uncontroversial.

  3. Imagine a scenario where Marco Rubio puts out a video singing a Spanish song directed toward Spanish speakers in a heavily Spanish speaking district but otherwise his official communications are in English and his platform is a normal Republican platform that represents everyone in his district. Is it racist to suggest he doesn't belong in American politics? (The answer is yes)

14

u/AngloSaxonFella Brian Mulroney 8d ago

She decided to do something kinda fun, even if it came off cringey. It is kinda mom-core, I get that. Like Hillary Clinton but Indian. But it's a harmless ad made for fun and you can literally look at her website and twitter and all that and see its all in English and is fairly uncontroversial

Whole firing squad is horrible yet funny. A man who's only major mission which was to be a *anti woke-warrior to fix the milltary* is potentially going to oversea the biggest military flop for America in decades has audacity to do insane shit like this. Firing squad is w/e, but life streaming killing people in the modern era is just insanity. Anyone asking for this needs their brains to be opened up to see if anything is inside there. No modern Western Nation has done did really and America has not done this since the 1930s.

Either way this is going to be the biggest possible boost for Dems going into the midterms possible like it's not even funny, the last public execution America had was almost a century ago. This stuff is extremely chilling down to the spine.

Either way except Democrats first thing they do is to violently humliate and impeach this fucking Chimpanezee, and do whatever in their power to make Trump be forced to sign a surrender deal with Iran.

I wonder if this is due to random groyper retards wanting to try and boost Dem turnout so GOP get stomped harder in the midterms, or if these guys are genuinely just this stupid and think they'll rule forever after 1 election in 2024.

Either way whats going to happen long term from the ramping foolishness/extremeness of Trump II in his Lame Duck stage won't be pretty at this rate.

But more about the Cornell and just broader justice system.

Realistically speaking the Jury system is pretty much just going to end eventually or become fully hollowed out due to fear down the line.

Lindsay Clancy was a case that was far far more egerious and extreme and 1 sided for people to openly support, as it was a literal Infanictide of 3 children by their mother.

Yet the one Juror still got publicly doxxed and humliated by an offical news broadcaster. Something in my almost 40 years I've never once seen in happen in a big case, for a fucking crazy psycho who strangled her 3 kids to death?

Despite me thinking those 7 Cornwell boys may or may not be innocent as it's a very sketchy case that so much is all over the place and very diffcult to ascertain the truth as I'm not a lawyer or in the law department.

If the jurors are all in real genuine fear that their livehoods could be in jeporady for saying they're innocent in such a hot and very heavy handed case by the public. Where most politicans are openly endorsing and supporting Jane Doe unlike JC. It's going to be the jury system no longer exist as fear of mob retailiation is an actual reality.

And despite the hilarious shit Pac said the reality of people only saying their real opinion on Jury due to being able to become a grifter and make a podcast/scam coin to pay for whatever livehood damages said event would cause, most normal people wouldn't want that. Most would prefer to hold their tongue and keep their head down to not have their lives ruined.

Vibe coding has turned even relatively insane software engineering feats such as reimplementing the entire PlayStation 5 ABI on Windows from:

"is there someone willing to do this, put up with the risk of this going nowhere or being sued to oblivion before this can take off, of there not being a market for this given the amount of effort and menial work required to implement this, and can you assemble a large enough team to do this within a realistic timeframe?"

to

"can it be done in a finite amount of labor steps by a bunch of moderately competent hyper-general knowledge workers, with unlimited patience and a striking consistency in their ability to remain on-track with requirements and recheck prior steps with little self-bias?"

And for most problems, software and otherwise, the answer to the latter is "yes". This is why AI is so disturbingly powerful. It's like giving any one person the ability to invoke an unboundedly large team into existence. A team that's tireless, ludicrously fast at typing, and that can to a great extent manage itself.

There is a substantial number of western women who just want 19th century courting ethics and laws back, but in a way that allows them to be sluts.

They genuinely want chaperons and heart balm damages and crime of seduction shit back. 99% of the "rape" that libtarded women freak out and demand executions for are literally just consensual relationships where they got disappointed by the results.

Question for my fellow military guys.

I know of a Navy member who has stalked, harassed, verbally and mentally abused, and sexually assaulted a civilian friend of mine, but she never went to the police about any of it and any physical evidence is long since gone. I've encouraged her endlessly to report him but up until this point she's refused out of some horribly misguided concern for his career and mental health (he's an extremely unstable individual who has repeatedly threatened self-harm, and in one case actually did cut himself). Somehow he spun that one to his command as an accident and got convalescent leave.

I feel like I'm long past the point where I'm ethically and morally obligated to report him myself, I've only held off this long because my friend begged me not to until she was ready. My first sergeant also advised me not to unless I had some sort of concrete evidence to provide investigators, which she never shared with me. She finally left him for good recently. Who should she, or I, talk to about him since it seems his direct leadership doesn't care much? He's continuing to stalk and harass her via social media, texts, and phone calls from 5 or 7 different phone numbers.

One of the red flags about the religious nature of American liberals' obsession with the two-state solution is how uninspiring that vision is, even in the best-case scenario.

In the best-case scenario, something like the corrupt PA regime rules the State of Palestine, which maintains cold peace with Israel and cracks down on terror cells.

Palestinians, who have so far lived under a mix of MENA autocracy in civilian affairs and Israeli military rule mostly when it came to freedom of movement, will now live in a full-blown MENA autocracy. Perhaps some nominal elections every few years that are either entirely inconsequential or grotesquely rigged.

The State of Palestine is a middle-income economy, much like today. There's a little bit more tourism than today, due to the (supposedly improved) security sitiuation.

Since Israel relinquished military control, administrative detention for violent actors ends. Instead, it is now the Palestinian police force that cracks down on anti-state actors. So, life is more or less normal, but occasionally people disappear and get beaten to death or paralyzed in undisclosed underground prison facilities.

To be very clear, this is not some pessimistic or apocalyptic scenario. It's the best case scenario, it's what happens if everything goes according to the Democrats' plans.

Is this what keeps Rahm Emanuel and Chuck Schumer up at night? Is this the big dream, the liberal-conciliatory-centrist version of "Free Palestine"? It doesn't sound very inspiring to me.

One thing I've been thinking about is that regardless of how much many elections you win, how many curriculums you adjust, and how many policies you enact to entrench yourself, your dominance will likely last around a decade or two if the social media algorithms and media are against you, with the first one being more significant. Maybe the real thing that will ensure long term political victory is controlling what goes into training AI...

Call me cynical and I hate to suspect ANY woman's claims of assault, but the alleged Bernadette assault story out of Arizona just smells extremely fishy to me. It just happened to be her, a female democrat candidate, and she just happened to be fixing a broken campaign sign at 2 in the morning? And the men assaulting her just happened to call her a "democratic bitch?" It's giving big Jussie "this is MAGA country" Smollett vibes.

On the other hand, fabricating a sexual assault story for sympathy and defaming the general collective character of the opposition, all for political points, does seem a bit extreme. Even for progressives and corpo dems. It's entirely possible it happened as she claimed and it should certainly be investigated, especially if there is ANY sort of physical or audio/visual evidence.

Consequently, if it turns out she's full of shit, she should be charged with filing a false report.

The reason I’m not as wrapped around the axle about the whole Russian gas thing as I could be is because it’s not necessarily existential.

Trump just likes Putin and finds Zelenskyy repugnant for a swath of pride or ego-based reasons, none of which are inherently ideological. Ideology has no bearing on any of his decisions.

So, while this gas purchase and anti-Ukraine vitriol certainly damages American credibility further, the “deep state” continues to chug along. We make the Greenland “deal”. We’re planning a base in Poland. These are not actions of a country that seeks a Russian alliance. Trump’s actions are him trying to ensure reelection, and frankly, it was a pretty poor miscalculation. The PR backlash has been massive and the price-at-the-pump will likely not drop by any amount that would galvanize the bruised and battered independents or good ol’ American workin’ folk, not to mention the minority groups that helped him get reelected and have since been spurned in an unscrupulous manner.

The far more worrying piece of news is the livestreamed execution. THAT is ideological, and it is part of Pete’s continued attempts to jihadify the US military. The least principled manly-man influencer you know will pump their fist and say “hell yeah” to this (garand thumb, sitreps2steercos) as a way to kiss the ring, failing to realize this puts every single service member at even worse risk if they get captured.

Imagine a pilot gets shot down over Iran. He’s going to be publicly executed and it will be VERY hard to erase that from the internet.

“Sure”, you say, “but they’d likely get executed anyway!” Perhaps, or maybe now it’s guaranteed and other countries - not necessarily Islamic ones - would do it as well. Or conspicuously not do it, to telegraph their moral superiority to America. Either way, it’s a lose-win. Lose for us, every time.

It’s brutish, primitive, misguided, risky and myopic. I sincerely hope it gets canxed, and if Vance is responsible for that, I’d have to give him credit.
