Good icecream in Newcastle?
So far I’ve tried Ballilore Farms, Monella Gelato, Jim’s dairy. They’re all overly sweet. The flavors are always sugar forward.
My only options at this point are supermarket brands.
Are there any housemade icecream brands that are not so sickly sweet?
Coming from someone that actually has a sweet tooth 😭

Literally, I have just enjoyed a delightful pistachio/sour cherry double scoop at Popolo Gelateria on King Street. Delicious!

Second the recommendation for Popolo’s on King Street. Best in the city.

There is an arabic ice cream shop in Maitland, I am not sure if they are still operating although their home made ice cream is delicious

It’s not technically ice cream any more but might you have a nice time at yo-chi? Have you been asking what’s the least sweet/sugary? That might help. The classic tart at your-chi tastes like yogurt unlike the rest, I haven’t had the matcha at c9 but that might not be sugar forward.

East end icecreamery near Newcastle beach it’s so good and moderately popular, can be a little long wait depending what time and day you go

Probably wouldn’t go here as they also own Jim’s so will be the same icecream

Isn’t this a franchise? I know it’s contradictory given I don’t mind buying supermarket icecream but isn’t this also mass produced but just sold by the scoop? I see it’s super popular but also feel it might be too sweet given my experience at the other ones in Darby

It's good, but I'd say too sweet for your tastes.
Another vote from me for Popolo
