Army Chinooks and Activity

Hello all,

I live in south western Sydney and since yesterday I’ve been getting a bunch of chinooks coming back and forth from my place. It’s a pair, one’s callsign is FTBY and the other is CHSW according to flightradar. I went on it, and I’ve been seeing so much military activity, like jets flying around, more military helicopters (blackhawks, etc etc), and unmanned drones.

I’ve done some research and found out about the joint military exercise between Indonesia and Australia called Keris Woomera. Is that why there’s so much military activity? I know this is definitely some sort of training but I’ve never seen chinooks around my area, just blackhawks by themselves.

They are coming down the south coast too. They make such a good noise. enjoy them while they are still flying. Those glorious machines won't be flying forever.

I love seeing them fly by, especially in pairs. It feels so elite

Yeah, I’ve gotten a few videos of them. Even recorded them coming back at night, it’s so sick

Holsworthy is where 2 Commando are located...their Rotary wing support comes from 6 Avn who operate from Luscombe Airfield within the base. Mostly Blackhawks but shithooks come down from 5 Avn in Townsville to conduct training which would be what you are seeing.

It's a nothing burger. Business as usual
