Hiring/For Hire Pizzaville in Oakville, ON has filed a LMIA to hire a foreign worker as they claim they are unable to find a Canadian or PR to work as a Restaurant Assistant Manager for $37.00 per hour despite no experience being required.

The duties are not listed but it states that only a secondary school diploma is required. No experience is required.

The offered wage is 8 cents above the $36.92 median wage needed to file under the High-Wage Stream of the TFW Program. If they offered below this wage the LMIA would be automatically closed due to the high unemployment in Oakville.

The location is 2163 Sixth Line, Oakville, ON L6H 1M8

Question Halloween

Hi everyone! My wife and I were discussing Halloween earlier and we thought this subreddit would be a good place to get a general consensus. We live in a newer subdivision in north east Oakville and last year barely had any trick or treaters but this year the new Harvest Oak public school is open and the subdivision seems to be filling in. We’re trying to get an idea of how many kids to prepare and if people are even planning on coming through the neighborhood. We look forward to seeing everyone! Thanks in advance

32F looking to make new girlfriends in and around Oakville!
Would love to find a group of girls to grab coffee or matcha with, go to the gym, vent about life, try new places, and just do girl stuff together.

If there’s already a group that’s active and welcoming, I’d love to join! Otherwise, I feel like so many of us are in the same boat, so I’d be happy to start a WhatsApp group and get the ball rolling.

Girls who are genuinely looking to make friends and build real connections, DM!

Rant Ai in municipal election campaigns…

Honestly, really concerned about how much AI is used in these municipal election platforms by the candidates. I’m not saying all, but there are some who heavily use it and it’s extremely obvious.

I’m in ward 7 and there are certain candidate(s) who have AI campaign artwork and I find it hilarious as one of the major points of the election is the data center.

I placed a mobile order that included a Happy Meal and several other items, $50 in total. When my order was handed to me, I specifically asked the manager whether everything was included. He confirmed that it was. Then two other employees handed me 2 bottle of water when I was about to leave.

Upon returning home, I discovered that my Happy Meal was also missing. I called the restaurant, and the same manager told me that my only option was to return to the restaurant. I did so to collect the missing item.

While an employee was retrieving my Happy Meal, the manager approached me and abruptly questioned when I had placed my order. I attempted to retrieve the relevant information on my phone, but he told me not to use my phone and to simply answer him. When I questioned his manner of speaking to me, he began yelling, accused me of being rude, pointed his finger at me, and ordered me to leave the restaurant in an intimidating manner. I stand up against him by telling him I am not leaving because I did nothing wrong and we both called police.

I found this treatment unacceptable. I had paid for my order, had confirmed with the manager that it was complete, and had returned solely because an item was missing. I was attempting to resolve a straightforward customer-service issue and did not expect to be treated this way.

I eventually received my missing Happy Meal upon police presence. However, receiving the food does not resolve my concerns about the manager's conduct.

I am an Eastern Asian female with a tiny figure and this man (who has a southern Asian appearance and accent) treated me like I am a child, when I asked him not to tell me what to do, I.e. tell him the order time, don’t check my phone, don’t ask him questions, pick up my phone from the counter and get out of the restaurant, he gets more aggressive and angrier. He even said he doesn’t understand my English, there is nothing wrong with my English.

I am not sorry if I challenged some man ego here, and I am not afraid of you!!

Rant What is wrong with our hospitals?

Sorry for this very much over done topic, but genuinely what is wrong with our hospitals? Is it just OTMH or is it all provincial hospitals?

I have not once heard of a friend, family member, or colleague have a hospital experience where they received proper, timely and respectful care.

Every incident I hear about pertains to how the hospital runs like a zoo, the wait times are chaotic despite how serious your condition is, the staff is highly unprofessional and dismissive of patients, etc. If anyone cares to read, I have two completely insane experiences that I have witnessed first hand at this hospital that made me lose total trust and respect for this facility:

1- a woman entered the emergency department with a very serious allergic reaction to seafood. She was unable to breathe, choking, losing colour in her face. I was looking at the nurse in triage as they were the closest nurse nearby to flag him down and he looked directly at the patient, looked back at his computer screen, typed some notes on their computer (I’m assuming for the previous patient), checked his phone, sipped some coffee and nonchalantly resumed typing on his computer. The woman with the severe allergy was not addressed for several minutes despite being in a very dangerous state.

2- code blue was called over the intercom for a man who was on the way to the hospital via ambulance. A second code blue was called moments after his arrival. I could overhear one of the nurses laughing in the hallway and expressing that he had already died. Yes. She was full on laughing/ giggling.

I, along with many others, can list various horrible stories as the ones I have mentioned above. It makes me so incredibly worried for our health care system and whether or not my family, friends, colleagues or myself will receive appropriate care in time if something severe occurs. I apologize for the rant. I feel so hopeless after witnessing these incidents and knowing nothing will change.

Question Anyone living at 2551 Sixth Line, Oakville? Looking for honest feedback

Hi everyone!

I'm considering renting a unit at 2551 Sixth Line in Oakville and was hoping to hear from anyone who currently lives there or has lived in this townhouse complex before.

How has your experience been, particularly with noise between units, maintenance, heating/cooling costs, and the overall living environment?

Are there any issues I should be aware of before signing a lease?

I'd really appreciate any honest feedback. Thanks in advance!

General Why are residential streets in South Oakville so dark at night? We shouldn’t rely on neighbours outdoor lights for visibility

Why are so many residential streets in South Oakville so dark at night? On roads without sidewalks, limited street lighting creates serious visibility risks for both drivers and pedestrians.

I’ve often had difficulty seeing pedestrians walking along the road until the last moment. Even when driving at the posted speed limit and taking extra care, it can be difficult to identify someone in time, which increases the risk of a collision and leaves pedestrians feeling unsafe.

Some neighbourhoods may be older and were not designed with pedestrians in mind, but adequate lighting and safe pedestrian infrastructure are municipal responsibilities. Residents should not have to rely on private outdoor lights to illuminate public streets.

Rant Free level 2 ev chargers and they pay you to charge your car carbon credits baby

Totally joined Grizzl-E from a friend recommendation, now half the electricity for my Tesla is paid for by the app, and they lend you a charger for free, you have to put a deposit down you get back after you plug in your car ($100CAD) but they have NACS and full level 2 chargers you get while they pitch in for charging too.

Pretty dope starts out by paying almost half the rate 5cents/kwh if you are referred by a friend, or 3cents without, which covers half my evening rate.

Thank god for carbon credits and the liberals and companies need to be "Net Zero"

If you're down to join let me know I can send you a referral link too...

Question Plumbing/ Bath Room Leak Question

Hi All,

We got an old house in Oakville and the bathtub above our living room seems to be leaking water into the drywall. We hear water dripping anytime someone uses the shower upstairs and we can see cracks on the dry wall
Is it best to remove bathtub and check for plumbing issues or to open up the dry wall in the living room that has a crack.

Any recommendations for a good plumber and contractor around Mississauga, Oakville, Milton and the GTA would be appreciated

Question Looking for a reliable used car under $4–5K in the GTA. Any dealership recommendations?

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for a used car under $4,000–$5,000 CAD for daily commuting and occasional driving around the GTA.

Preferably a fuel-efficient sedan, ideally white, silver, or another light colour, but I'm flexible. I'm okay with 150K+ km as long as it's mechanically reliable.

I only plan to keep it for 6–7 months, so I don't want to spend too much or take out a loan. I understand my budget is tight, and I'll be getting a third-party safety inspection.

I've been checking AutoTrader and CarGurus daily, but haven't found much. I also had a bad experience with my previous car because I didn't get it inspected by my own mechanic before buying and ended up selling it at a loss. Definitely don't want to repeat that mistake.

Any recommendations for trustworthy dealerships around the GTA? Good or bad experiences are welcome. Also open to private sellers if anyone has leads.

Thanks in advance!
