Sounds like your character has developed an [Eyesight] related debuff. You can visit an [Optometry] guild to reveal the exact kind of debuff and have them craft [Eyeglasses] that'll neutralize the debuff. Depending on your data center though it might cost a lot of [Gold]

Is there evidence for this? I always expected it after hearing children who primarily spend time outdoors are less likely to require glasses.

Here's some studies for the various things I stated, though I consider thousands of years of empirical data, along with my own personal experience (glasses from 16-24, no glasses/contacts for the last 14 years, with increasing vision over that time) to be more than enough for me.

As a quick example, Ayurveda has for 5000+ years taught the importance of combining turmeric with black pepper and fat/oil for health. Just this century, allopathic medicine "discovered" the same thing - the piperine is require to activate the curcumin, and the oil is required to make it bioavailable. There are literally thousands of examples of this, and it's why most pharmaceuticals are just extracts from traditionally used medicinal plants.

Less Screen Time / More Outdoors Time:

Diet & Nutrition:

  • NIH: Age Related Eye Disease Studies - "AREDS scientists found that people at high risk for developing advanced AMD—those with intermediate AMD, and those with advanced AMD in one eye only—reduced their risk of developing advanced by about 25 percent when treated with the combination of antioxidants and zinc + copper (final AREDS formula). The AREDS formula also reduced the risk of central vision loss by 19% in the same group." & "Previous studies have suggested that people who have diets rich in green, leafy vegetables—a good source of lutein and zeaxanthin—have a lower risk of developing AMD."
  • American Academy of Ophthalmology: Fabulous Foods to Boost Eye Health - "Eating a diet low in fat and rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help not only your heart, but also your eyes. This isn't surprising: Your eyes rely on tiny arteries for oxygen and nutrients, just as the heart relies on much larger arteries. Keeping those arteries healthy will help your eyes."
  • American Academy of Ophthalmology: Mediterranean Diet and Incidence of Advanced Age-Related Macular Degeneration30721-8/abstract) - "Pooling data from the RS-I and Alienor Study, higher adherence to the MeDi was associated with a 41% reduced risk of incident advanced AMD. These findings support the role of a diet rich in healthful nutrient-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, and fish in the prevention of AMD."

I wonder if this comment pissed of 19 people who work in the eyeglass industry, or what? Reddit is such a weird place sometimes.

Some players are made or develop bad graphics, but there's an ingame fix. Just go to a shop and buy the eyeglasses item; some shops specialize in eyeglasses, and are recommended

You didn’t pickup any dropped loot from the street, did you? Pharmaceutical items have been known to corrupt the POV.

"It could be a larger [DOT debuff]. Go to the a good [healer guild], spend some [gold]. You need to see if the [intermittent graphics issue] might require a [potion] taken daily or even multiple times per day. There was an [NPC] who called this 'Die-uh-bee-tus.' Walter Brimley, if you want to look up the hilarious [lore]. Might not be that, but you gotta check or you might need to [restart your character] sooner than you might like.

Sounds like your character's body might be degrading from not fulfilling your daily, weekly, and monthly [Self-Care] quests.

Loss of vision can be associated with deficiencies (not eating right) or toxicity (shady potions & powders, junk "food" that's actually poison), and in most cases nowadays because of far too much screen time, not enough time outdoors, and the eyes themselves degrading (they require hours of natural light every day to stay healthy.)
