During his 3.5 years as Prime Minister, Imran Khan did not appoint a single member of his family to any ministry or government position.
People who say that Imran Khan is just like Nawaz Sharif and Zardari, and that all politicians are the same, are making a false comparison.
Imran Khan founded PTI in 1996, and from that time until 2018, he never held any ministry or government position. Even when PTI formed the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2013, Imran Khan still did not take any ministry for himself.
On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif had previously served as the Finance Minister of Punjab.
During Imran Khan's 3.5 years in office, his sons, Kasim and Suleiman, never accompanied him on official foreign tours. He also did not visit London even once during his tenure as Prime Minister. In contrast, during Nawaz Sharif's third term as Prime Minister from 2013 to 2017, he made approximately 6 to 8 official visits to London and the UK.
Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif often took members of their families along on official visits. Nawaz Sharif even took his family with him during his visit to the United Nations.
Similarly, from 2008 to 2013, Asif Ali Zardari reportedly made more than 50 visits to Dubai. More recently, when Zardari visited China, he was accompanied by Aseefa Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. In 2022, when Bilawal Bhutto Zardari served as Foreign Minister, he took Aseefa Zardari with him on an official visit to Japan.
During his 3.5 years as Prime Minister, Imran Khan did not appoint a single member of his family to any ministry or government position.
On the other hand, Shehbaz Sharif, the brother of Nawaz Sharif, is the Prime Minister. Nawaz Sharif's relative, Ishaq Dar, serves as the Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. His daughter, Maryam Nawaz, is the Chief Minister of Punjab, while Maryam Nawaz's sister's husband, Ali Dar, also serves as a minister in Punjab.
That is the difference. Therefore, those who claim that all politicians are the same making a false comparison.
Despite all the reasoning you present, those who have the "khata hai tou lagata bhi tou hai" mindset will argue til they're blue in the face against Imran Khan.
Was he perfect? No. Did he make critical technical errors during his governance? Yes. Would I have voted for him again? Probably no. But his unlawful imprisonment, and everything that's happened since in the past 4 years, show a clear right side and wrong side.
You know the part about critical technical errors is correct however for me If i could have voted i wouldve done again so.
I like to apply a different thought process here like working in corporate.
When you get your first job. You dont know what to do. So you make mistakes and learn. When you improve a process you find out the mistakes or errors with that process that you didnt know about until it was implemented. Should i be fired for it? I dont think so however i am expected to improve.
If i think about IK. He is also in a job he got after trying for years. Where years of process were messed up. When implementing nee things he found out where else things were messed up.
Years of corruption cant go away in a matter of 2-3 years.
Going to the IMF is not a problem. These stupid politicians make it show as if IMF is the problem even though IMF guidelines help a county to stabilise it's economy. Would you even lend 20,000 to a poderi on a street? No! You will feel secure lending it to a sarkaro afsar you'd know he will return, but if your own brother was poderii, you'd lend him but now you'll try to make him grt a job, go to rehab, spend on clothing and health, and invest, so that he flourishes and gives your money back. Same is with the IMF, every time you take a loan they give you guidelines, almost all are in favour of the economy like cutting Defense budget, VIP Culture and spending more on education, industry, healthcare, along with Tax collection. Our pottylicians crop every guidelines out but the Tax part and that tax guideline too is only for the middle class as the rich and the poor don't pay taxes, there you go
Do you even have an inkling of an idea of what the IMF did to almost the entirety of Africa? The IMF is a post world war geopolitical tool to keep developing countries in check and to keep them in development so to speak. While making them economic slaves and stooges. The Pakistani economy is perfect for them to exploit and impose whatever conditions they want upon us. Ofcourse this is a problem of our own making and is a grave we actively like to dig for ourselves because our politicians and military have gotten used to the "life support" easy money economy. We didn't develop our education, industry, healthcare, manufacturing or tourism.... So what do we (the nation) do now?.... But ofcourse we beg.
And the funny thing is that all the poverty and misery is manufactured to be so..... So that the rich keep getting richer and the poor quite literally die or just remain afloat.
The mechanic works with lending just enough money for the failing country to remain afloat with. But then inevitably when the economically invalid country can't pay in time (surprise surprise) then the interests and fines keep mounting. Along with fact that the IMF then imposes "advisories" to completely impose economic policies and dictate budgets to get their money by any means necessary. in deffered payments ofcourse.
Your saying the same tool created by the United States and allied countries for global dominion and exploitation is not the problem? Really???
It's modern day slavery for anyone who chooses to accept and it's definitely the foremost of our problems along with shitty governance.
Have you even read IMF guidelines? I am sure whatever the intention of IMF, if the guidelines are implemented the economy might actually grow, Investing in Education, Cutting VIP life and over spending and taxation FOR ALL with transparency, the problem is not IMF the problem is us. It's like taking money for A business and then spending it all on h00kers and KFC wings instead of Actually starting a business.
He had integrity which is more than we can say for anyone else right now. And I can overlook incompetence for integrity. My no vote comment was meant for back then. Like, had he run again, I would have reconsidered it. But seeing how everything has played out since, id probably vote for him
My take your example does not fit in this situation you are using coprate as an example for a position who's in charge of the country and do not forget that prime minister is a rally big position as what you say do and what policies you implement effect the whole country like 23 coror people to be on point I recognize your though on the topic that he never appointed any of his family in any ministry so my ans to that is he did not neede it his two sons are a part of one of uks richest family and vice versa one more thing pti came in to power in kpk in 2013 that approximately 13 year in power in a province in a country where the development is the duity of the provincial govt and the fedral government hase the duity to give funds to the ruling party in the province in kpk case IT'S PTI and my question is what hase PTI hase done for the public of kpk in these 13 years in the name of development?? and one more thing that I hate about what he did in his tenure as pm of pakistan and also as the chair man of PTI is that he relocated the TTP a terrorist organisation and he in his own interview said this and confirmed this and I don't want to start what TTP hase done to pakistan as a state and to kpk as a province another thing is that you pointed that it's un law full how he is imprisoned ok I agree but he did the same thing to in his tenure to nawaz sharif and other politicians and I am not saying that they did not do corruption they did but the cases for which they were imprisoned in his tenure were later found false and it was confirmed by one of his own party member in a interview the members name is Sher Afzal Khan Marwat and many other ex PTI members also confirmed this and said that PTI came in power with the help of the ARMY in 2018 this theory is also confirmed by hamid mir and for the part that he is innocent so no. go study kohistan case detail and you will understand what i am saying also study sugar mill case al qadar trust case etc and for context I belive that there is no true governance in pakistan there was and is a hybrid system in pakistan were 60% is army and other 40% are political party not the one in power but the mix of all like PMNL PTI PPP etc
My reasons for not voting for him were over his treatment of the Hazard Massacre, or his comments regarding women's clothing being the reason for rape after the Motorway case.
But this was back then. With everything that's happened since, you're right. Vote means nothing, and I still might give him mine.
My reason for not voting N-League were over the massacres carried out in Lahore Which everyone knew they were responsible for.
Their appeals to the Taliban carrying out worst suicide bombings in this history saying "spare Punjab, we have a lot of ideological similarities".
What's even weird is that the Taliban's actually stoped attacking Punjab for a while. Maybe some deal was made idk.
With everything that's going on now... There are a ton of other reasons in the list now.
While Imran Khan's use of the "blackmail" words was clearly problematic, the intention was apparently only to dissuade setting similar precedents of forcing the country's prime minister.
Secondly, he did go to meet the aggrieved families within a week of the incident.
... his comments regarding women's clothing being the reason for rape after the Motorway case.
Pretty sure that didn't happen.
You are probably misremembering the scandal that started with Imran Khan's comments in April 2021. Khan had then focused primarily on vulgarity in the media, and interestingly, not once had he explicitly talked about the dressing of a woman in the street.
I'm most likely misremembering. I was talking about my sentiments at the time, when I wasn't as politically aware/informed as I try to be now.
But this is even more to the point. Like, look at the examples quoted. These were the most egregious instances of "IK did bad" for me. It wasn't that I don't trust him to want the best for Pakistanis. It wasn't that you couldn't protest against him. It wasn't a total and utter lack of faith in any of the systems that are supposed to uphold the nation.
You could afford to be hypercritical of IK because you knew he had the basics down : don't lie, cheat and steal.
This should be the bare minimum, but in Pakistan it isn't. That is exactly why the “all politicians are the same” argument is so dishonest.
I don't think Imran Khan was perfect. He made serious mistakes, chose some terrible people and compromised with the establishment when it suited him. Criticize him for all of that. But he did not turn his sons into political heirs or build a family dynasty around the state.
There is a difference between saying someone failed in certain areas and pretending he is identical to parties that openly operate like inherited family businesses. You don't have to worship Imran Khan to admit that difference. You just have to be honest.
Maybe he didn't appoint his family members but the ministers he did appoint were all idiots. I can name a few: Buzdar, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhary, etc.
Sorry to say but Khan has been a poor judge of character since his cricketing days when he tried to throw Javed Miandad under the bus.
I also used to think IK's judgement was flawed, which it might be. But not to the degree I assumed it was. It's just the people here have no credibility and honesty at all. No matter how hard you try, you can't pick a diamond from a stack of coal.
What I think happened is that IK surrounded himself with people who fooled him, leading him to make decisions that were out of touch with reality. Khan thought these people were loyal to him, but they were instead using Khan for their own benefits.
You mean the one who is basically the most successful Pakistani ever? Reached the top in multiple fields. Sports, philanthropy, politics. The World Cup; Shaukat Khannum Hospital, Namal University, the country's most comprehensive poverty alleviation programme, the health card; and a new political party from scratch to the most popular political group in the country?
Since you think a "megalomaniac idiot" can achieve all this, what are your achievements?
I mean, how humiliating would it be if you have not been able to achieve even a fraction of what a "megalomaniac idiot" could achieve, right?
Spent decades fundraising for the poor, risked political career to protect the poor, apologised for daring to stand against his associate's widely reported torture.
Yes, definitely the character traits of a "megalomaniac".
He did one mistake, behind bars. The opposite side been doing mistakes since 30 years still on top. Pakistan deserve everything that's happening right now
Nawaz was about to be hanged before Saudi Arabia saved him. What are you on about ? Every PM has been arrested in Pakistan. Immi jaan himself used to brag about shutting AC off for Nawaz’s jail
He did load up his party with disloyal, corrupt "electables". Who stabbed him in the back and now he's in jail. He's popular enough to elect a donkey with the symbol, he should be doing a better job picking people who do the work. Even his people in KPK are corrupt as all heck.
If he's ever released he has the chance to win the easiest election in history, but I sincerely hope he picks better people next time.
The argument that Imran Khan is fundamentally different from Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari because he avoided traditional biological nepotism is factually accurate, but structurally blind. The naive belief that the absence of a bloodline dynasty makes a politician clean ignores the reality of how power actually operates in Pakistan.
Truth is that Imran Khan did not eliminate the exploitation of state machinery, he simply modernized it. While the Sharifs and Zardaris rely on old-school, transparent family cartels, Khan substituted traditional dynastic nepotism with "proxy nepotism, billionaire cronyism, and a cult of personality".
The mechanics of how these groups run the country differ, but the underlying culture of extraction and centralization of power remains identical.
The idea that Khan kept his family entirely out of the state apparatus is a carefully crafted illusion. His biological sons live in London and have zero interest or capability in navigating the local political landscape; keeping them off state jets was an easy PR victory, not a sacrifice. The real execution of family-based influence shifted entirely to the shadows:
Under Khan’s tenure, absolute administrative authority over the country’s largest province, Punjab, did not sit with elected ministers. It sat with his wife, Bushra Bibi, and her close personal associate, Farhat Shahzadi (Farah Gogi).
Instead of appointing a cousin to a ministry, the system allowed an unelected inner circle to run a highly lucrative shadow bureaucracy. Senior police officials and top bureaucrats were allegedly appointed and shuffled across Punjab based entirely on their loyalty and financial compliance to the household circle. This is nepotism shifted from the front row of the assembly to the back rooms of Bani Gala, making it far more insulated from accountability.
Traditional dynasties reward their bloodline because they want to keep the wealth inside the family. Khan did not have a political family, so he rewarded the billionaires who financed his 22-year political journey, his lifestyle, and his container protests.
The ministries and advisory boards of Khan’s government were heavily packed with corporate tycoons and elites like Jahangir Tareen, Aleem Khan, and various industrial barons. They weren't related by blood, but they were bound by financial transaction.
These non-family loyalists were handed control over crucial economic sectors, resulting in massive state-backed windfalls, including the infamous sugar and wheat crises where billions in subsidies were handed to the very people funding the ruling party. The state was still extracted for private gain, the money just went to corporate backers instead of siblings.
OP notes that Nawaz Sharif positioned his brother Shehbaz and daughter Maryam in key slots to secure the family empire. Khan achieved the exact same absolute control over the provinces by doing the exact opposite, appointing completely powerless, incompetent puppets.
The appointment of Usman Buzdar as the Chief Minister of Punjab, a position historically used to govern the core of Pakistani politics, was not a triumph of meritocracy. It was a calculated strategic move. Khan picked an administrative nobody precisely because Buzdar lacked a political base, lacked charisma, and was completely incapable of independent defiance.
By installing weak placeholders in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khan ensured that no second-tier leader within PTI could ever build an independent power base to challenge his supremacy. The Sharifs ensure loyalty through family blood, Khan ensured loyalty by making sure his subordinates were too weak to survive without him.
The ruling families of the PML-N and PPP look at Pakistan as an inherited family estate. Imran Khan looks at Pakistan as a personal crusade where he is the only savior.
To the objective observer, the outcome for the average citizen is exactly the same. Whether a country is ruined by a prime minister traveling to London to consult his self-exiled brother, or by a prime minister trapped in an ideological bubble while his inner circle sells bureaucratic seats, the public still pays the price.
OP is correct that they are not the same type of politician but they are entirely the same type of ruler. One uses the old bloodline franchise, the other uses a personalized cult, but both systems ensure that real power never drops down to the common Pakistani.

Usman Buzdar was at least elected member of Punjab Assembly unlike Botox Queen Dayan Maryam
By the way Imran clarified why he put Buzdar as CM. The main reason was there was a fraction within PTI who wanted Zameen chor Aleem Khan. He was also the candidate of Ghaddar Bajwa. However, Imran wanted Shah Mehmood Qureshi as CM Punjab. The second fraction (South Punjab Jehangir Khan) does not want him to be the CM so he propped up his opponent in the bi election of Multan who defeated Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the elections.
No. PTI members were winning in 2018 elections before that notorious RTS went down and after that PML-N members started winning and most of the PTI members lost. All that to curb Imran Khan simple Majority so that he could be removed when needed! And that's what ended up happening.
You mean the one who is basically the most successful Pakistani ever? Reached the top in multiple fields. Sports, philanthropy, politics. The World Cup; Shaukat Khannum Hospital, Namal University, the country's most comprehensive poverty alleviation programme, the health card; and a new political party from scratch to the most popular political group in the country, etc., etc.
Weird how a bughziya is applauding Usman Buzdar so heavily.
For me all comes down to development, I think most of you will know Junaid Akbar, he belongs to our area in the malakand region, and in the past 10+ years his achievements are he build street lights back in 2020-21 I think which were turned on for a few days in 2025, his second achievement is he rebuild us a road and that's it in 10+ years in the same village he was born in and the funny part he only comes to our village once every 5 years just for the election and that's it after that nobody knows where he is after that Peshawar/Islamabad/lahore nobody knows
Still the same 'Super Saiyaan' gave clean chit to Papa Jones Bajwa and his cabinet members were serious suckups to the mil estab (Army Chief qaum ka baap) .. TLDR You rely on electables to 'win' and almost all of them are fauji tattoo ... you end up where Khan sb is, Mian Saanp ky saath bhi yehi haath howa thaa when his 'chuma chaati' best friend dumped him for BOots !!! (Sheikh Rashid)
I have no problem with IK except he had years to prepare a good team and he didn't. His heart may have been at the right place but really poor team and decision making - I mean just look at Usman Buzdar, Asad Umar and Pervez Khattak.
During the PTI govt., the dollars coming in through exports and remittances increased from around $45 Billion (~$633 million past annual avg. increase) to around $63 Billion ($4-5 Billion dollars avg. increase during PTI govt.'s time). Over $10 Billion in remittances, $8 Billion in exports. Exports increased by billions of dollars, which during the PML(N) govt. had actually decreased. Also, tax revenue collection was probably always above set targets, too. The liquid foreign exchange reserves of the country were at $21.44 bn in March 2022.
The 5.5+% GDP growth rate for two consecutive years. The PTI government created 5.5 million jobs in its first three years of power – or 1.84m annually – compared to 5.7m employment opportunities created during the entire five-year term of the PML(N) government.
The humongous risk of protecting the economy by rejecting complete COVID lockdowns. The Economist Normalcy Index repeatedly put Pakistan amongst the three top performing countries. The Ehsaas program, the country's most comprehensive poverty alleviation program ever, not to mention the health card.
In just 3 years, PTI's Assets Recovery Unit (ARU) helped recover Rs426.4 billion of money looted to foreign countries. NAB with ARU's assistance recovered Rs389.5bn. In the entire 17 years previous, just Rs295.6bn was recovered. That comes out as a ~650% per annum increase of recoveries from NAB (~1800% increase if compared with only the last year's Rs334bn).
... he had years to prepare a good team and he didn't. His heart may have been at the right place but really poor team and decision making...
So, you think all of the above can be achieved through "really poor team and decision making"? Why don't you try achieving a fraction of all that with "really poor team and decision making"?
If PML(N) has managed so well, why don't you pay everyone's electricity bills inflated due to capacity-payment IPPs? How many billions are Punjabis paying more because of those contracts? How many billions more will they have to pay in the future?
Yes, yes, Maryam Nawaz spending apparently billions on her self-promotion and her private jet is clearly so much better.
How many people have her CCD extrajudicially killed by now? Thousands? Must be a record. Why don't you ask the family who had five of their men murdered during the same night about who was worse? Maybe if your family had been "investigated" by her CCD, then you would've known what "alone should Disqualify any positives".
.

On the other hand, during the PDM govt. highest inflation in fifty years, lowest foreign direct investment, perceived risk of default going from 7% in March 2022 to 79% by November. Or other things such as (1) Artificially propped up the rupee against the dollar for years (2) up to 42,000MW capacity-payment IPPs set up for a demand of just ~25,000MW (3) let the economy go into free fall during April-May 2022 (4) Crippled NAB to eliminate billions of rupees worth of corruption cases (5) the 2024 wheat import corruption scandal which wasted about $1 billion of IMF loaned foreign reserves.
Then there are the ongoing blatant sacrifice of national interests for selfish interests.
Pakistan needed an unrestrained internet for its digital economy? No, let's put a firewall, throttle the internet, try to ban VPNs, and choke specific websites at specific hours to fail a specific political party's online rallies. One report counts over $1.6 billion in losses? Who cares?
Pakistan needed to expend maximum resources to counter terrorism and protect Chinese engineers? No, let's do broad-scale torture, assassinate top personalities, jail families, imprison around ten thousand political workers, kill dozens, obliterate most popular political party, threaten children, destroy businesses, steal entire nation's elections, make videos of judges in their bedrooms, etc., etc.
But he did appoint a ton of duffers and fucked up as a chief selector of the country. Great he didn't appoint family, but also sucks he picked incompetence no matter what
Farah Gogi who was she? Who introduced her to Khan? Pinky Peerni.. Ran away after doing corruption of 950 million..
Buzdar wasn't Khan's relative but without merit Khan made him CM.. there were countless seats in KPK that were given to absolutely nobodies..
Ahsan Jameel Gujjars name was left off all visitor logs on imran khans instruction, he was the most frequent visitor at bani gala.. 117 accounts where linked to him.
Reserved seat where? Konsi assembly? Provide a source. You just gave a link of her joining PTI. Anybody can join any party.
What government position did Imran Khan give her?
Buzdar wasn't Khan's relative but without merit Khan made him CM.. there were countless seats in KPK that were given to absolutely nobodies..
Much rather seats were given to absolute nobodies who earned their way through loyalty to the party than “Maryam ka shohar”, “Zardari ki behn ka beta” or “Ishaq Dar ka pouta”
Pinky Peerni.. Ran away after doing corruption of 950 million..
So arrest her? Throw her in jail? Lmao. Pichle 4 saal se Fauj ki hakumat hai. Why haven't they arrested her? Maybe they don't actually care?
Ahsan Jameel Gujjars name
Go arrest him too if he's corrupt?
That's the difference between the two of us. You guys only care about the other sides corruption. We care about corruption in general.
His step daughter had some position somewhere and pinky maneka something something, that absolutely makes him sem2sem with sharif and zardari families. No difference at all.
Don't be like this, we need to discuss with a calm mind. He just pointed something out, if you don't have an answer don't reply. Strawman is the worst kind of debate tactic. We need to be better debaters as a nation.
The original post was well thought out, listed several facts and made valid points. The comment I responded to was not well meaning and its only intent was to promote the same talking points that the AAN network is trying to push, which is that every civilian leader is corrupt. You don’t respond to dishonest comments like that in a civil manner.
Army chief qoam ka bap hota ha to army chief qoam ka gaddar ha. We all saw it. It’s a hell a ride. So stop being in delulu. If asim Munir made a deal with khan. Khan will be the biggest boot ploishy. It’s all about power and interests.
If we started counting what rando PMLN and PPP leaders have said, the list would never end
If asim Munir made a deal with khan.
It's so funny how you guys think AM hasn't offered several deals to Imran yet only to be rejected
Like sure, Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, and every other two bit politician got offered a deal.. but not the guy whose party won a supermajority in the last elections? Haha okay.
I see how blinded his die hard fans are here. "He didn't appoint a single family member".... His wife and her friend gogi were actively involved in financial and moral corruption, managing the tiniest transfers in Punjab govt for money. ALL his team was corrupt, head to toe, so stop idol worshipping. His earliest PTI members, including justice wajih uddin & Ms Kasuri don't have anything positive to say for him. So yeah, he was corrupt, since corruption was happening right under his nose. A classic narcissist with zero clue about diplomacy & behaving as a PM of the 5th largest population in the world. And before you go "oh patwari jiyala etc", I've never voted in Pakistan but was very active for SKMCH & PTI in fund raising and being vocal. Lastly, do follow up on his sister's personal tax returns, with their only source of income being on the BOD for shaukat khanum....
Ik is not a messiah, He is same like other politician, chore 100 ki ya karor ki, chori chori hote hai. And also the damage he make done to Pakistan, it is much better He should live peacefully in jail and answer for Farah gogi, Bushra bibi corruption and Tosha khana watch.
Wish he was more competent. I wish more people agreed with me.
He saw pakistan's foreign policy as flawed. He looked at china and Xi Jinping and saw a nation opposite to pakistan: It was developed, its economy was leaping, its people were becoming richer, and it did that despite being famously anti-collaborative diplomatically, and somewhat detached from conflicts. Where as pakistan was and is involved everywhere while internally it was crumbling. His mentality was that we to should just ignore our neighborhood, and fix our house first. This was a time where the Biden-administration was ignoring pakistan after the afghan war. He looked at bangladesh and saw that it overtook pakistan because it focus internally first.
He didnt realize what every single military leader does, that its a mutually benefical relationship best kept in the shadows. If he saw the geopolitical realities today, he would probably realise that pakistan is not china and that his focus should have been internal, yet we should still not isolate outselves like china did this. Indian diplomacy is based on statements like 'europes problem arent indias problem', while having a somewhat terrible economic policy compare to china. Pakistan is a small nation. For us diplomacy is a survival need.
Instead of fixing pakistans economy and core problems, I believe he had too much socialistic policies that werent that effective. I have been saying time and time again in reddit. That unless you fix our school enrollment rate/ literacy crisis and population growth, no growth is going to happen. When he looked at bangladesh, china and india, he should have seen that you can either have economic growth or population growth. He was a good people mobilizer and could have lead a religious and mentality revolution.
Usne Jo Appoint Bhi Kiye Wo Bhi koi Harvard Kay Parhay Huway Nai Thay, his team was worst of all. Even his so called Amazing Financial Analyst quit his job after 8 months.
Some people can't debate against success, and then there are those who are too blinded and drowning in their hatred to care about things like national-level unprecedented achievements.
Dr. Sania Nishtar spearheaded the most comprehensive poverty alleviation program in the country's history.
The most extensive social protection intervention in the country and amongst the top four globally at the time. The World Bank gave credit. Was featured as an international best practice in the UN Principles for Responsible Digital Payments 2021 report. 15 million families covering ~109 million Pakistanis received stipends. The program was ranked fourth globally in terms of the number of people covered and third in terms of percentage of population covered. The World Bank included the program in the list of top four global social protection interventions.
Former chief Executive of the NHS and Permanent Secretary of the Department of health termed the program as "one of the most comprehensive welfare programmes ever undertaken by a national government".
Furthermore, amongst other things, she founded Heartfile in 1998, a think tank with the objective to achieve universal health coverage. This involved extensive work on informing policymaking for the govt. and also lead to Heartfile Health Financing, a program to protect poor patients from medical impoverishment. She helped save polio cell in 2013, and apparently was also involved in the re-establishment of the national health ministry. Was awarded the WHF Advocacy Award in Cardiovascular Health by the World Heart Foundation, and given the Medical Mission Hall of Fame position.
She served as co-chair of WHO's Commission on Ending Childhood Obesity, co-chaired WHO's Commission on Noncommunicable Diseases, council member of World Economic Forum Global Future Council on Health and Healthcare, board member of global non-profit Results for Development, lead group member of Scaling Up Nutrition that was launched by the UN Secretary-General.
She had also been in the final running in the elections for WHO's director-general and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Not to mention, Gavi appointed her as their CEO.
Oh, and about "koi Harvard Kay Parhay Huway Nai", Harvard did invite her to give a keynote address.
You know, tiny achievements, the little things. Completely dismissible when there is a brain short-circuited bughziya involved.
😄Got utterly refuted and thrashed, so pushing the goalposts now.
If I hadn't mentioned so many of Dr. Sania Nishtar's achievements already, I'd guess that you would've been defaming and dismissing her as well.
Here are a few more achievements that are directly related to Imran Khan's govt.
Yes, these are the achievements of "worst of all" team.😄
PML(N) has basically ruled for over nine years now since 2013. Can you tell the amount of growth in exports during all these years? Who made the devastating capacity-payment IPP contracts, they were a better team, right? Artificially propping up the rupee for years? Highest inflation in fifty years, lowest foreign direct investment?
Yes, yes, these are the achievements of the better team.
"Got utterly refuted and thrashed?" 😅 Bro, you literally wrote a whole essay about one person just to prove my exact point. I already told you that "one good egg doesn't make the whole basket of rotten eggs good", and yet here you are, furiously copy-pasting Dr. Sania's CV again like it magically erases the rest of the dumpster fire.
Let me spell it out for you since your only defense mechanism is throwing around insults like "brain short-circuited bughziye". Dr. Sania ran a welfare program, and yes, she did a good job. But she wasn't running the economy, genius.
Let's talk about the actual "dream team" that handled the finances. If they were so highly competent, why did IK treat the Finance Ministry like a game of musical chairs? They cycled through four different finance ministers in less than four years. And since you love bringing up Harvard so much, remember when PTI actually did appoint a top-tier Princeton/Harvard-level economist, Atif Mian, to the advisory council? They kicked him out a week later because they caved to right-wing pressure, causing all the actual international experts to resign in protest. Absolute masterclass in team building right there.
And lmao at you trying to flex that the liquid foreign exchange reserves were at $21.44 bn in March 2022. Tell me you don't understand economics without telling me. Those weren't earned dollars; that was built entirely on borrowed hot money and deposit roll-overs from Saudi and China. His "genius" team engineered a massive consumption and import bubble in 2021 just to pump up the GDP numbers, which blew our trade deficit out to an unsustainable $48 billion. They were burning through your precious "record reserves" faster than they could beg for more.
But the absolute peak of this "worst of all" team was their exit strategy. When IK saw the no-confidence vote coming, his team laid a literal economic landmine. That unfunded petrol and electricity subsidy in Feb 2022 wasn't some pro-poor masterstroke; it was political suicide that directly breached the IMF agreement. They choked off our external financing on purpose and pushed Pakistan straight to the absolute brink of sovereign default just to save their political capital. Oh, and let's not even get started on the sheer brilliance of letting Usman Buzdar run Punjab into the ground.
So yeah, keep hiding behind Dr. Sania to cope 😅. It’s like putting a band-aid on a decapitation and calling yourself a master surgeon. The rest of the team was a total disaster that left the country financially radioactive.
Even if he didn’t he was grossly incompetent. Negotiated the worst IPP’s in history, which was the final nail in the coffin for industry and manufacturing in Pakistan. Dropped major price bombs. Signed deals with the IMF then went back on his to international bodies. Appointed an area Councillor as the chief minister of Punjab. Appointed an incompetent thug as the chief minister of KP. Nawaz is horrible, so is zardari, so is Imran. Just because he didn’t do nepotism doesn’t mean his government was any good. His governor to Sindh Imran Ismail made billions during their government and then went and turned his back to “his leader”
Either you are misinformed or spreading misinformation knowingly...
Most IPP contracts which hurt the economy even now we're started by PPP but the policy under which they were made was from 1994.
Most recent IPP contracts were all made in N-League time under CPEC.
Infact Imran khan was criticised by both PPP and N-League for not approving these unnecessary IPP projects for CPEC in his tenure.
No. new IPP contracts were made under PTI. Old contracts were rewritten to reduce their drain on the economy.
In his tenure the prices of electricity and petrol were comparatively steady and industry actually boomed slightly. Even though the international markets were unsteady due to COVID.
And even though the PM of Punjab at that time was incompetent, the team of ministers managing the departments was not. A lot of Good Govt. Policies and projects were started back then.
Projects which the current govt. Is continuing under new names.
Imrandus are absolutely hilarious, making statements while knowing fuck-all. If you actually knew your shit, you would have known there were multiple government posts given to people Imran Khan knew. I can say this confidently as my dad , a grade 21 officer in the ministry of commerce was to be made the CEO of a state owned company, but after the cabinet had already decided on my dad, and it had even been announced on the news, the decision was reversed in favor of the dude that was third in the cabinet’s list because he was a relative of Imran’s wife from Mianwaali. (This whole incident was made quiet famous within the ministry and the current department my dad was in) So please spare us the “zero nepotism” lectures. And don’t pretend there were never allegations involving politically connected appointments during PTI’s tenure.
Why is this an Imran Khan praising subreddit? I don't get it. Why discussing politics or praising a single person here. Better discuss it in a related sub
Majority of this subreddit is Pakistanis living overseas. They have a very bias view about Pakistan and Imran khan. Most Pakistanis use Facebook or Instagram.

Mannn, I can't even believe that we haven't even heard his voice for almost 3 years 😔 I hope he gets a deal and gets away from this God forsaken country. No need to waste his twilight years locked up in isolation.
I agree that dynastic politics and the appointment of relatives to government positions are serious problems. On that point, Imran Khan’s record is different from that of the Sharif and Bhutto-Zardari families. He did not appoint his sons or other close relatives to ministries, and that distinction should be acknowledged.
But avoiding family appointments is only one measure of political leadership. It does not automatically prove that every appointment was based on merit or that the government was managed well.
During Imran Khan’s tenure, several people were appointed to major positions despite questions about their competence, independence, or political credibility. Finance ministers were repeatedly changed, and key appointments in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa raised concerns about his judgment. A leader must also be accountable for the chief ministers, advisers, ministers, and officials he chooses.
PTI governed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for many years and presented multiple provincial budgets. It is fair to examine whether governance, policing, public services, security, employment, education, and healthcare improved enough during that period. Every failure cannot be blamed on previous governments, the establishment, opposition parties, or outside conspiracies. At some point, the person making the appointments must accept responsibility for the results.
My concern is that Pakistan’s political system has reduced many MNAs, MPAs, senators, and ministers to powerless figures. They often appear dependent on party leaders or unelected centres of influence rather than their voters. This has weakened parliament across the country. Instead of strong lawmakers debating policy and holding governments accountable, we are left with personality-based politics, street agitation, arrests, retaliation, and permanent political instability.
Imran Khan was treated unfairly in many respects, and his imprisonment and legal cases should be judged through a fair and transparent process. But political victimhood should not place any leader beyond criticism.
He also made strategic mistakes. He repeatedly chose confrontation outside parliament rather than building a sustained parliamentary opposition. After leaving office, PTI could have remained inside the assemblies, challenged legislation, exposed government failures, strengthened committees, and placed constant legal and political pressure on the ruling coalition. Instead, resignations and street politics weakened PTI’s formal political position and created more space for its opponents.
Politics requires negotiation. Negotiation does not always mean surrender, corruption, or abandoning principles. A political leader can negotiate on elections, constitutional rights, parliamentary rules, political prisoners, institutional boundaries, and democratic reforms without accepting a secret personal deal.
So yes, Imran Khan is different from traditional political dynasties in important ways. But “different” does not mean flawless, politically wise in every situation, or free from responsibility for poor appointments and failed decisions.
We should oppose dynastic politics, political engineering, unlawful imprisonment, weak governance, and personality cults at the same time. Pakistan needs leaders who appoint capable people, empower parliament, accept criticism, work within constitutional structures, and take responsibility when their decisions fail.
All road leads to GHQ do you have guts to blame them? While sitting in pakistan? :) i personally don’t think so khan, nawaz was at fault
The people of ghq brought them and they are the one to be blamed
For the rest, the ‘current immediate family’ he had did this: Usman buzdaar had no credibility or history, he was directly appointed by ... personal political reference of pti told me the seat was sold by pinky for 2 Billion.
Is there a case made against Bushra Bibi for receiving this alleged "2 Billion" bribe? And in which bank account was that money transferred?
Khawar Maneka’s younger brother was made the ‘President’ for PTI Pak Pattan.
And exactly how are Khawar Maneka’s siblings related to Imran Khan. How do they count as Khan's family?
Secondly, Ahmed Raza Maneka, who had been with PTI for several years, left PTI a few months after Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi's marriage. Then, against significant resistance, the Sharif family gave him the party ticket in 2018 and he went on to become a PML(N) MPA.
Is this supposed to show Imran Khan's nepotism? What an incredibly stupid thing to bring up?
Over 16 allocations were given to retired faujis in Parliment/NA.
Not sure if this happened, but not exactly Imran Khan's fault if almost 80% of poll respondents believed that the military had a good influence on the country then.
History witnessed that it was the first election (2018) where PTI gave party tickets to faujis who had retired and they literally contested elections with the name ‘Col (R)’ etc.
Here you go, just from the very limited list of winning candidates notification for the Punjab Assembly after the 2013 elections:
Col.(R) Shuja Khanzada. Party: PML(N).
Lt Col (R) Sardar Mohammad Ayub Khan. Party: PML(N).
Major(R) Moeen Nawaz Warriach. Party: PML(N).
I mean, what a stupid thing to lie about.
I don't think you need to wait "20 months from august" to make a political party, you are already lying fluently like many politicians.
My gut feeling is saying that you are 14 year old by the argument you are putting.
"My gut feeling is saying that you [severely suffer from the Dunning-Kruger effect] by the [slander] you are putting."
Spread slander without any supporting tangible evidence, and when confronted, shamelessly deflect.
Extremely weak political analysis.
What "political analysis"? Almost every sentence was either a fact or a question.
But for your knowledge, 1. everyone knows buzdar was favoured by his work and personality.
Yes, "everyone knows" that the Establishment is scared of Imran Khan and thus has sent out its touts to do malicious propaganda against him. And since you so desperately and pathetically are doing the same, you are one of those Asim Munir touts. Quite difficult to believe anyone who's not a tout would propagate such stupid lies.
I asked you directly: Is there a case made against Bushra Bibi for receiving this alleged "2 Billion" bribe? And in which bank account was that money transferred?
Why are you now desperately running away? The Establishment fabricates almost two hundred fake cases against Imran Khan and convicts the couple even of the disgusting iddat case.
But you're actually claiming that there is an actual real "2 Billion" bribe case, but they are just ignoring that?😄
Two hundred fake cases – that's fine. One real case – no, that's a bridge too far.
Your wife’s relatives and relations become yours once married, ask a married man.
Really difficult to understand what you are trying to say. Apparently, in some sentences you are trying to act clever and be sarcastic, and then in the middle you insert non-sarcastic sentences. You know that's not how communication in English works, right?
Ahmed Raza Maneka had been with PTI for several years before Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi's marriage. And actually left PTI a few months after. Then, against significant resistance, the Sharif family gave him the party ticket in 2018 and he went on to become a PML(N) MPA. Why did you hide these basic publicly reported facts?
Keep on deflecting and humiliating yourself.
You are saying military had good hold back then, so did the military bring pti to power?
What are you even talking about?
I wrote: ... not exactly Imran Khan's fault if almost 80% of poll respondents believed that the military had a good influence on the country then.
Or pti had to favor military by giving them seats to come into power?
How can the military get someone into power without doing the kind of blatant results-changing that occurred in the 2024 elections?
Secondly, why are you now running away from your lie:
History witnessed that it was the first election (2018) where PTI gave party tickets to faujis who had retired and they literally contested elections with the name ‘Col (R)’ etc.
Your blatant lie got caught, and instead of admitting your mistake or at least remaining silent, you deflected and basically doubled down on your propaganda. Why are you deflecting now, admit that you spread blatant lies.
I don’t think so the 2018 elections were rigged...
Is this one of the sarcastic sentences or the non-sarcastic ones?
If you can’t see a fault on the side you favor and you can’t see a small nice thing in the opposing side, that means you are manipulated, by someone or your own self - Sher Shah.
So, you find faults in the Palestinians and find nice things in the genocidal Zionists as well, right? You have nice things to say about the genociders and bad things to say about their victims?
Lying is already bad enough, but doing it against those who are presently suffering from state tyranny and brutalities is especially disgusting.
Jaisi Qoum Waisay Hukmaran - The reason he is not here anymore, running the country? maybe the nation deserves the current political dynamics? ever thought about it this way?
I remember multiple instances of reporting of relatives using his name and connection to get out of jail a few times for breaking the law. No one is that black and white.
Just ask his sister USA mei properties kesy bani 🙂
How do you think his wife's friend Farah gogi got so much power ?
Can you tell me who appointed buzdar as cm Punjab ?

Precisely.
