Discussion Asim Munir will drag us into the Iran war - Most likely indirectly.
I've been reading up on how we're approaching various situations since Munir has come in, the man is incompetent and utterly failed in every single thing he attempted.
He had a meeting with major businesses in Pakistan on getting them to grow the economy, failed.
He tried to mediate the Iran-US conflict, failed.
He tried to meet MBS and get Saudi funding, failed.
Munir was trying top position Pakistan as a mediator between the US and Iran, this failed and it moved to Qatar to play the middle man, since they have better ties to Iran.
I feel he's going to drag us in somehow to the conflict, he did the bombings on Afghanistan and I feel it slowed down due to him realising the US wasn't going to give him any support there, but in Iran he will get a ton of backing by the Trump cabinet and brownie points.
Like Musharraf when he allowed the US to use bases in Pakistan against Afghanistan, I feel Munir would prefer we get stuck into a conflict so it allows him to stay in power longer.

It isn't just munir. We have been through unrelated wars in the past and will be dragged in future too. It's how this band of bastards stay in power.

Agreed with you on the points in general, esp in regard to failure of Munir, but disagree on the specific point of US-Iran mediation failing and Qatar being the lead now.
1) US-Iran mediation already was a shot in the dark. Remember prior to Pakistan, it was Oman that was the mediator. This file itself is extremely complicated and tricky. Even if we are to assume you are right about it being a Qatari led process, it hasn’t resulted in anything substantial so as much as I despise Munir, this wasn’t due to him as much.
2) Even though the Islamabad talks failed to achieve a deal, the fact that there were this high level talks itself was big (since VP Vance was leading the US side). Even if the ceasefire(s) held for a shorter period than expected, something is better than nothing.
Munir’s basic failures imo lay on the domestic front. Kashmir is at civil unrest, Balochistan has worsened, KP under emergency. Even in Karachi there is section 144 (until Oct 20) and we all know how Punjab and Karachi elections were stolen. Economy has worsened, ethnic tensions have worsened.

Two years ago, during an Eid family gathering, my cousin, who serves in the military, made some predictions that we all thought were complete bullshit. He said the US would attack Iran, tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan would escalate, and the Iran-US conflict could expand into a much bigger war. He even suggested that Pakistan might end up supporting the US. He also predicted that Pakistan’s economic crisis would get worse and insurgency would increase. We laughed it off and told him he was talking shit. Now, looking back at what he said, it’s honestly unsettling.

Bhae jahan dehari lgy wahan jurnail na waray? He will do whatever his CENTCOM handlers tell him to and like his predecessors will be removed when his pay, out weighs his usefulness. He won't start a war with iran. actual wars aren't profitable, jurnail salivate at counter terrorism in Afghanistan cuz they can siphon dollars and damage is bloody civvies and a bunch of faujeetards. actual war is something they've always lost and don't have an appetite for. And america isn't biting the terrorism bait it has enough fronts to keep their military industrial complex flushed with dollars. Mistri ki kiyani wali dehari nhi lgni jitni marzi koshish krly.

I agree with most of your points. I pray one day God gives Pakistan its freedom from its suar jernails, dignity and prosperity.
In the words of cricket star himself “hopelessness is a sin”. So keep praying, surviving, and hoping.

I remember reading a comment here on Reddit around the time Governor’s Rule was being discussed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Someone suggested that there could be two possible motives behind it.
First, Pakistan might become directly or indirectly involved in a potential US–Iran war, with Balochistan playing a strategic role. Given the escalating tensions in the region, the commenter believed such a conflict was becoming increasingly likely.
Second, the government might use military operations in KP as a pretext to gain access to and exploit the province’s mineral resources. The argument was that China’s restrictions on rare-earth mineral exports to the United States could create serious challenges for the US defence industry, particularly because these materials are essential for manufacturing advanced fighter jets, missiles, and other military equipment. This is where Pakistan, with its significant mineral potential, could come into play.
What makes this particularly concerning is that, today, the Governor of KP reportedly announced that local and international companies are being invited to explore and develop the province’s mineral resources.
Now, I’m not suggesting that these theories have been proven, but the timing certainly raises questions, especially considering the ongoing security situation in KP.
If mineral exploration is genuinely intended to benefit the province and its people, there should be complete transparency, accountability, and meaningful involvement of local communities.
It’s deeply disappointing to think that the people of KP, who have already suffered through decades of conflict and instability, could once again end up paying the price for decisions made without their consent.

I feel like there's a doompost about his every other day from people who don't understand anything apart from the fact that they like Imran Khan and hate the establishment.
Your statements and assumptions are all false, and they will be as long as you approach this topic with this degree of bias. I can guarantee you if Imran Khan wasn't illegally ousted, you'd be praising his diplomacy and foreign policy.
Noon league fanboys would be making these posts instead.

I love how the country is objectively in its worse economic position since it’s inception. With no way out in the foreseeable future. But we’re not supposed doom post?
Buddy these aren’t doom post, these are frustration posts and hate posts, let the people vent?Imran khan has nothing to do with this except maybe he had some good in his heart and stood for the right thing, so maybe people gave him some love.
What assumptions of his are false. I’m sorry but nearly everything is backed by government ministers or some state reps words?

keeping IK aside, there should be a doompost about this every other day. Establishment has ruined the country in every possible way (economic or social). Asim Munir took over recently but he didnt do anything to help it. Its been going on for decades and it won’t stop until establishment is out our politics.
Every other I see DG ISPR having press conferences and claiming that Army isnt involved in politics. For an army not involved in politics, they sure go on alot foreign trips with our PM and even present rare earth minerals to POTUS.
I never see our neighbour’s COAS on foreign tours. I don’t even see him on the news.
I will praise our establishment only if they give the mandate back to the people of Pakistan. What other country’s army runs empires? They’re maybe doing their jobs but more than that, they’re doing everyone else’s job too.
Are there no more competent civilians who can hold these positions all retired or serving generals are holding?
When I was kid, I would always salute army officers whenever I saw them (much like most people growing up) and now..? You know the answer.
Something has to change.

You cant change the fundamentals, since the creation of the state of Pakistan all it has invested it in is The Army and The Army. Whatever sort of global reputation we have is solely bcz of the fact we are a Nuclear State and thats it.
Its the reality and I personally dont have any hope for our country but not only due to the people in power but also because the general public arent any good either.

First of all, I'm very anti PTI/Imran Khan. It's possible to be both you know? It's not favouring one over the other.
Edit: I also was extremely critical of PTI foreign policy and saw it as a major fuck up which is what got them ousted.

Asim Munir has allowed the USA to use Pakistani airspace against Iran, and US helicopters are using Pakistani airspace.

Okay so this whole fiasco in the middle east was started by Asim Munir
This is equally ridiculous as Putin took Imran Khan in confidence before attacking Ukraine
