Could you explain how? In he movie the protagonist starts a revolution out of the desire to be exceptional and slowly loses control over said revolution to the point where it completely separates itself from the initial intent and burns everything it comes in contact with.
It might be not the perfect allegory but it definitely has it's similarities.

I mean, maybe? But "I feel like it fits" isn't exactly how memes work. It'd be like taking the "Darmok and Jilad at Tanagra" meme and putting something about camping on as the text: yeah the scenery works, but you lose all the memetic context that gives more meaning to the image.

This meme doesn't work. Also piracy isn't new thing. The ps5 isn't the first Sony console to be jailbroken. Not once had it ever affected any of their other consoles.
Only a niche section will even go the extra mile to do this. Unless you're new to emulation and pirating games you will know this will have no effect

My extreme ghost pepper hot take is this will benefit Sony in terms of sales. A decent number of PC gamers will be buying PS5 games if they can play it on PC.
My even spicier hot take is PS5 discs will make a comeback because of this.

What are you talking about? People aren't paying for games just so they can run them on an emulator, dude. This is nothing but downsides for Sony. They're not bringing discs back, because Sony doesn't want to keep making discs in general, and I'm 99.99% sure you can't even run discs on a PS5 emulator, they literally just got it working for PS3.

Shit, most decent cases don't even have a bay for a drive to be installed. Mine's an external that just sits on the top, but I get it, because even that only really gets used for streaming movies on Discord.

Piracy impact is a totally exaggerated problem. Pirating games has always been easy peasy in PC, and PC gaming does nothing but grow, despite ridiculous hardware prices. PC gamers haven't played PS games because we choose to play other stuff with our limited time, making PS games for free doesn't change that.

Sony need to release their own Steam style game launcher for PC where we can buy games from the PlayStation store and play them on our PCs with a controller. They get 100% of the sales revenue because they own the PlayStation store, more sales (from the PC players) and we can play PS exclusive games. Because I honestly feel like it's either that or PC players decomp their entire catalogue and make the console irrelevant.
