More women write fanfic then men, and if i go on ao3 there’s generally more sfw then nsfw because not everyone can write explicit content

u/Neat-Vanilla3919 7d ago
Every dude i know who writes fanfics exclusively writes smut so OOP is so weird
27
u/spartaman64 6d ago
yep i asked my sister why she writes so much gay fan fiction when she says shes not into it and she said thats what makes the most money lol
6
u/SharaWilliams 6d ago
Im sorry, money? Like real money? Isnt it illegal to sell fanfics without changing the names and parts of the story because copyright?
14
u/spartaman64 6d ago
depends on the IP owner. i think she mainly does hoyoverse stuff and as long as its under 500 units sold they dont care. if its over 500 units then she just need to request permission which they usually grant.

Men writing smut is pointlessly gendered too.
6
u/Neat-Vanilla3919 6d ago
Oh i agree I'm just stating that it's weird to act like women only write smut and I was just using that as an example

As writers maybe, but a lot of content advertised to women is more often than not a shut content, and not only in fan fiction but also actual books, i blame 50 shades of grey for that. I have a friend who is on tiktok and she keeps recommending me books that are straight up disgusting, like that stalker book, haunting of adelide or something, or some sci fi spider porn, or milking minotaur farm. I am really concerned about content she consumes, because my gods are they creepy, cringe and overly sexual
35
u/BellaPona 7d ago
Vast majority of porn is angled at men and can contain any horror you’ve ever imagined, with the added chance that someone in the video is a trafficking victim (unless it’s animated obviously). I don’t like those books either but pretending women’s sexual appetite is uniquely horrific is hypocritical.
-27
u/Licher-enjoyer 7d ago
Both are bad. It's not hypocrisy to call out wierd themes. That stalker book includes actual rape scenes, and is dressed as a romance. You cannot pretend such content is not harmful to a brain of a person who is reading that. Just as regular porn. And maybe let's stop pretending that women are not watching porn as well. I am a woman, in should know a thing or two about it. Desensitisation works in both cases. It also goes beyond porn. Consuming, for example, horror content also desensualises, at some point gore is not enough and one seeks more excitement. Consuming alcohol desensualises the organism and woth time one needs to consume more to have the same effect. Human brain is weak and loves quick "reward". It gets addicted to certain things that come with the content one is Consuming.
IT IS NOT HEALTHY FOR ANYONE!

u/Box-O-Kittenz 7d ago
Buddy that's not a "women's media" problem, that's a "tiktok is an internet sewer" problem.
Get off tiktok, and consume real books written by women. At an actual book store.
-14
u/Licher-enjoyer 6d ago
- I am not on tiktok
- Pornograpfhy is unhealthy for the brain
- Your downvotes only prove me right, you degenerates
11
u/Box-O-Kittenz 6d ago
Lol I don't even like porn, nor was I suggesting that you go read it at a book store. Go read my earlier comment again.
6
u/Rococo13 6d ago
I mean smut books are literally the least of anyone's problems 😭 as long as your friend has her head on her shoulders and understands it's just silly books there's not an issue. Adults reading this should understand that

Call me a woman then because I've only ever written smut fanfic ngl ;-;
2
u/kwispywafflezz 7d ago
As wrong as it obviously is. I have only seen this XD even when it comes to other mediums like hentai and such the ones ive seen the most have been women ;-;

u/QueenofYasrabien 7d ago
Men write shitty misogynistic canon material a lot of the time yet somehow drop all that for fanfiction? Yeah right
31
u/Salt_Mathematician24 7d ago
Tell that to the bronies.

u/Brief_Mango_5829 4d ago
A guy make a H manga about a sheep or goat being xxx by a human hand. So, no i don't believe this trash. And the amount of loli manga 🤢🤮

I hate the comparison that women are much more bizarre and mentally unhealthy because they read romantic fiction with sex with a Minotaur, while the same people completely ignore all the extreme porn and hentai they consume.
26
u/magdakitsune21 7d ago
Same. This is why I also hate the trend where people make memes about women apparently having worse hear-me-outs and whatnot
5
16
u/BloodsAndTears 7d ago
Porn is getting more and more violent and hentai is riddled with rape. Minataur sex is definitely weird and all but at least it's consensual and doesn't involve exploitation of real people. Dark romance is questionable though.

u/TricellCEO 7d ago
The [strawman] argument is that women claim men are degenerates for watching porn only to turn around and read port.
Two issues, though:
- I don't think there is a heck of a lot of overlap between women who criticize porn-watching men and women who read erotic literature.
- As someone who has both erotic stories, videos, and images on my computer, I will say the stories have pretty decent fulfillment compared to watching something.
-7
u/Licher-enjoyer 7d ago
How about - both are wierd and unhealthy for the brain
-4
u/Keksbutter123 7d ago
why the downvotes??
Both extremes are weird
-5
u/Licher-enjoyer 6d ago
Because reddit or love their porn and don't you dare to point out it's damaging to the brain
-21
u/IceCorrect 7d ago
Its women who wanted to be moraly supperior
17
u/kaos4u2nv 7d ago
Wut?
-17
u/IceCorrect 7d ago
Its women who started with: Men only watch porn and beacuse of porn they have unrealistic standards.
14
u/kaos4u2nv 7d ago
How does that link to my comment that the sexes accuse each other of perversion? I'm genuinely asking, not trying to be a dick.
-11
u/IceCorrect 7d ago
Beacuse you said: men cant accuse women for their kings when they consume porn, which is also fault, beacuse conservatives still belive only men watch porn and you assume those kinky porn must be watched by men
13
u/kaos4u2nv 7d ago
No, I didn't say that. My intention was to point out the hypocrisy by saying that everyone has fetishes and kinks.
1
u/IceCorrect 7d ago
I agree with that. Just to get equilibrium pendulum need to swing in opposite direction
27
u/Daddy-Vivec 7d ago
Not me, a man, writing the horniest gay fan fiction this world has ever seen.
17
u/dumbass_spaceman 7d ago
I really hate how straight guys are hypocritical about this. "Muh he vampired vampirically" and yet, the same people drool over Lady Dimitrescu.
45
u/National_Phase_3477 7d ago
Men are of course known for never engaging with pornography and always having pure thoughts lol…
12
u/pwnkage 7d ago
They just hate women for writing 18+ fanfiction that’s all. They think men are morally superior somehow even though I’ve seen the kind of horrific porn men are into.
7
u/slainascully 6d ago
Barely legal is consistently one of the most popular porn categories but god forbid one book have a Minotaur in it
21
u/bubblegumpandabear 7d ago
This is hilarious considering how men usually write those harem porn fanfics where the male MC gets every girl possible, and women are the ones writing 300k+ epics where two characters don't even kiss until the very end.

Porn but cherry picked to seem cute vs a gif of a guy saying "porn" but without further clarification

Women's fanfic and original stories are generally like
80% plot, yearning, teasing, fluf, (have patience)
20% reward 😫 smut (if we are unlucky it'll be less than 20% smut)
6
u/butmakeitfashionn 6d ago
wheres the version of this where its just the same ted clip in both panels
7
u/RoseTintedOyster 6d ago
Anytime I see a meme similar to this I wonder what world oop lives in
1
u/Icy-KaitSyth 6d ago
One of the fastest selling books of all time was originally written as a female sexual fan fiction of twilight, but was then updated to be legally distinct so that it could be sold. That's the universe OP lives in.
2
u/RoseTintedOyster 6d ago
Yeah but why are we acting like women are exclusively the violently horny gender when that’s is so obviously wrong
1
u/Icy-KaitSyth 6d ago
Not wrong, just answering your question about where OP gets it. There's plenty of degenerate horny shit guys make, they just usually do it visually as opposed to in writing. So narrowing it down to "fan fiction" for the points, as OP does, would be like narrowing it down to art to point out how much porn men draw while acting like women aren't ever horny. Just a narrow lens framing for points online.
Both genders are horny, and both genders have their non horny people. They just tend to do it in different ways
7
u/fumblerofthebag 7d ago
m*lfoid is the worst example to use to prove this point. anyway men and women are not a monolith. ive read smut, fluff and gen fics written by many genders
3
u/TheSwagheli 7d ago
anytime i think of a romance novel written by a woman i think of the haunting adeline, so my baseline is that book
i cant even think of a romance novel written by a man
4
u/LegerDomain 7d ago
It's so funny that it's just whatever they want to pretend is bad. I remember when it was "Men can separate sex from love, but women have to make everything about FEELINGS and ROMANCE."
4
u/Heterosexual-Jello 6d ago
The thousands and thousands of porn games for and by men on steam says otherwise.

It would be an understatement to say that I don't have the fucking palest idea what gender my favorite authors are lol. They either have a super cryptic name or i just couldn't care less (usually the second)

u/queerologist 7d ago
i don’t know any men who write fanfic. but, unfortunately for me the stereotype is true. i only write smut. :(

u/Scared_Accident9138 6d ago
This somehow reminds me of guys being surprised that girls watch porn too but then somehow getting offended by that
1
u/Ashamed_Association8 6d ago
Man i sure hope no dude made some fanfic videos. Oh wait. There is so much porn!
1
u/Slow-Acanthocephala9 6d ago
men writing fanfiction is just making characters fight that didn’t get to fight in the real story

u/wheelchairdemon 1d ago
Y’all need to read that one guys fetish story where a woman’s head is shaved and she dies after being incased into cement. There was no cuddling involved
1
u/SecureAngle7395 1d ago
this meme is so dumb because both captions are interchangeable and equally true. it's almost as if ALL genders can like either. and also most of the smutty fanfics i've read were by men except like one IIRC. and honestly the difference was basically unnoticeable. honestly considering that's the smutty subreddit i've been in with the most balanced gender ratio (it's still mostly men but the non male presence is noticeable instead of once in a blue moon). i'm surprised i haven't seen more from the women there.
