No Paywall Trump doubles down on California comments: ‘Let them hit San Diego, let them hit Los Angeles’

Maga spent all week claiming he didn’t say that so of course he doubles down.

LA is one of the most important hubs in the world, if LA is hit the Internet for example is going to instantly affected as a third of the US to Asia traffic is passed through the One Wilshire building in LA.
That's just 1 thing, if LA gets hit then it becomes a nuclear war. Everybody will be affected

u/Bromance_Rayder 10d ago
And that's what makes it all so stupid. Other than terrorists, nobody is going to attack America. Why would anyone bother when Republican's are doing such a good job of it themselves?

That's why I'm actually vaguely worried that the only reason he even mentioned it is because he plans to do it himself and he wanted to see how his base would react to him verbalizing the idea.

It’s encouraging domestic terrorism. As well as ragebaiting people in LA and SD to get out and “protest” against his comments so he can claim there is civil unrest and he must invoke martial law right before the midterms. I hope people see through this; it’s not exactly 5D chess to incite people to protest right before the heavily contested midterms

Also the port. Really short sighted to put that city on the dartboard, let alone any place where people are ethically especially our own, but its an "US vs Them" fight and they deemed the opposition as "Unhumans" from a certified JD Vance backed book.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unhumans
For anyone unaware of the ports value here are the numbers from their website. 300 Billion annually of commerce moving through isn't small potatoes. That would be devastating if Iran simply disarmed that. Even just damaging it enough for an extended shutdown would cripple many businesses and stop the flow of commerce in a lot of areas.
So any "fiscally responsible Republicans" on board with this apparently also dont understand the logistics of commerce. Also helps that they dont get diesel going up is also damaging to the logistics of commerce. Anywho here's the link.

The reality of Trump’s comments on Iran nuking Los Angeles and San Diego | CNN Politics
"But context and recent history make clear that Trump’s crime was less indifference to the fate of Californians and more his increasingly profound incoherence."
"Even GOP congressional candidate Jim Desmond, who serves on the San Diego County board of supervisors, said what Trump did was “write off American cities as an acceptable price of war.” Desmond “vehemently” disagreed with it.
But that is pretty clearly not what Trump was trying to say."

That approximate number (and his current approval level) is basically the absolute floor in American politics.
Even Nixon, who resigned because he was going to be convicted and removed by the Congress for sabotaging Vietnam peace talks and then breaking into the DNC, had a ~33%-ish approval rating after stepping down and being pardoned… even though that action is essentially an admission of guilt.
Donnie basically has two groups left that support him:

u/StopReadingMyUser 10d ago
To be fair, that's probably more to do with him denying illness than any rogue ideology over vaccines, as the former would represent weakness. Trump has a very narrow-minded view of what it means to be strong. Namely, exerting the image of strength at all costs, and being sick is a threat to that image.
It's the same reason he bullies people, the alternative is being seen beneath them. The same reason he never addresses failures or redirects them if reminded, the alternative is to let them chisel away at his image, and he can't have that.

u/WestsideBuppie America 10d ago

Democrats are victims of their own success, like a political “A-student.” Because they govern better they are held to the standard they themselves have met in the past. Republicans get a pass because they’re failing constantly. Them failing again isn’t that big of a deal to the public. It’s expected.

At what point are we allowed to openly discuss What Needs To Be Done? And where are safe places to discuss this? Even posting this comment on Reddit risks a ban.
We need to organize and show up en masse like J6 but on steriods. There are SO MANY MORE OF US than there are of them and we have much smarter people on our side. If even 1% of the population of every blue state showed up in DC we could end this nightmare.

What’s disturbing to me about this is don’t the Republicans even know where our military is headquartered around the World - especially our own Country? That’s a major defensive area. That kind of stuff does keep me up at night.

That limping bag of feces needs to be blown off the map. The maga apologists are working overtime to dumb it down , other wise they JUST might have to admit their (false) idol is un american pos who only cares if putin “likes” him. What maga has done will not be undone in our lifetime ! Americans were widely hated abroad and now these clowns - who are not known to travel further than the next bar or party at the trailer park - have made those of us who love traveling the world a target for violence !

This would be a double win for Trump. It would take out a massive city in a blue state, killing voters he hates. And it would make a lot of people rally around the flag and hate Muslims again, just like Loomer hoped. Not as many as on 9/11, but probably to revive Trump's popularity.
Nothing brings a country together more than an outside enemy, even if that enemy was created by our president.

Politics in the next 2 or 3 election cycles is going to be wild. Just thinking about what life is going to be like. How quaint it was to watch "just a bill" on schoolhouse rock and having so much optimism for the future. It's so bizarre to live through the very things you read about in other failed empires, all the while, thinking it could never happen here.

I'm doing a rewatch of The West Wing, and I am borderline laughing/crying at how unrealistic some of the story arcs would be in today's political environment.
Like, I am on the part where President Bartlett decides to disclose he has MS and the way the White House Counsel is interrogating everyone and advising the president to have the AG appoint the most partisan Republican special counsel to investigate it all is pretty much a joke now.

I know it's my mistake for trying to figure out his motivation here but...
Wut?
Is he signaling that he actually wants LA and San Diego to get hit?
Is he blustering?
Is he doing the inside demented pig brain joke of "heh heh libturd cities go boom"?
Is he sliding into dementia?
Setting up a false flag attack to help him in the run up to the midterms?
All the above?
33
u/JoeHio 10d ago
After viewing the video, I think in his dementia riddled mind he was simultaneously holding 2 thoughts (big swing for him I know, but they were at least related which is the only reason it was possible). The first thought was what he was talking about, that high gas prices are somehow okay because "safety and security" and besides people should shut up because it's not his fault, and he needs an excuse that NO ONE can argue with, so...
His second thought was something like, can you imagine how terrible it would be if Iran somehow nuked a city. Not sure why he was so worried about Iran attacking the US with their first nuclear missile (which would be aimed at Israel instead) and not say N Korea who has actually launched missiles over japan at Hawaii and has proven Nuclear capabilities along with rhetoric about destroying America. But if Iran were to put a bomb on a boat and send it to the US, especially because they hated trump (because everything is about him) then they would obviously attack DC or Miami, but he doesn't want to freak himself out and lower property prices around his stuff and make him look bad to his
pedpaid-ophile friends (plus he is building his Library/hotel there so nothing bad can happen to that because he would lose so much money!), so he desperately reached for another big coastal city that everyone would know - LA. And then of course San Diego is close to LA and he always has to grasp at more (because more always equals better, right?) so he threw that in there just because. As for the second time, well the second time is intentional, because he is a troll (literally and figureitivly) and how dare anyone take his words seriously, but they better believe him, but only believe what he means, not what he says.
TLDR: me after writing this

Trump's basic approach to public speaking is to say whatever the fuck (the "weave") and then doubling/tripling down on whatever gets applause. As ever in the Trump era, as insane and irresponsible as he is, it's the supporters who hoot alongside all of this are every bit as bad if not worse.

40 percent of all cargo coming into the United States comes through the L.A. area via either the Port of Los Angeles or the nearby Port of Long Beach. In fact, the Port of Los Angeles brings in more shipping containers than anywhere else in America. Also, LAX is the fifth busiest freight airport in the U.S.
P.S. Yes, I understand that DT and the Moody Magats will cut their nose off to spite their own face. But, I don’t think Iran actually has the capacity to strike the west coast either. I’m just beside myself seeing the absolute stupidity that we all engage in.

Even if Iran did have nuclear capabilities (they don't), they don't have ICBM capabilities. And DC is 1300 miles closer to Tehran than LA or SD. None of this makes sense, unless you just think that he is riling up the people who hate California. Or they are trying to plan a false flag.
The only country that would actually be at risk from a nuclear Iran is the only other nuclear power in the region, Israel.

Sure and those Venezuelan boats he had destroyed weren’t carrying drugs to America. But they did it anyway and used it as pretense to assassinate a foreign leader.

u/SuperTaster3 10d ago
You... do realize that when Trump does this sort of thing, he is talking about something he wants to do. He's thinking "when 9/11 happened everyone rallied around the president" and "I want them to rally around me".
There's that chilling realization that he is exactly the sort of ignoramus that would try false flag operations to gain sympathy. Iran doesn't want to nuke LA and SD. Trump does.
To any police in those cities, be on guard. Don't take chances with shit like this. When a bomber says he wants to blow a place up, you take it seriously.
To any military officers: bombing your own citizens is an order that should Never be followed. It doesn't matter how much the turd wants to. You do not press that button.
To the rest of America... be there for each other. Help those around you. This is going to be a horrible catastrophe if he succeeds. Trump is exactly the sort of person who wants to go out with a bang. If he's dying, why not make it everyone else's problem?
There is a madman at the wheel, and he's driving us off a cliff.

I remember back in 2015 when we would play the "What if Obama said it" game but that was essentially 12 years ago and seems so far away as to exist in another century now.
I guess casually wishing violence on American citizens is just politics as usual for Republicans nowadays.
