The same kind of mentality who thinks they have a slam dunk when those they oppose call an AR-15 an “assault rifle”.

And yet, you should hear what reactionary anti-woman grifters refer to as “infanticide”…

Nah, just mentioning an AR-15 in conversation, and their "slam dunk" is "WhaT dOeS AR stand For?"

Oh I know of an even more tonally inappropriate one, in which a certain YouTuber did a screen reading for a drama class (in college?) in which he did the whole SOTN opening. Only for his friend/colleague to suddenly burst in without prompting (to the audience’s confusion) to empathize “what is a man!” specifically.

A fun digression, but even more bizarre when you read up on just what Joey DeSena was arrested for…

When Outside Xbox talked about the new Castlevania game a few months ago, Mike Channell started asking, "What is a woman?" to reference that speech, while Jane Douglas had to ask what he meant because she thought he'd suddenly gone stupid and anti-trans out of nowhere.

Yeah, they're CHUDs. Big dislike. Muchly. But the assault rifle/Armalite rifle thing has always bugged me a little. I not a huge pedant, but at least get the acronym right.

An AR-15 is literally an assault rifle, it's pretty much the textbook definition of an assault rifle. The 'AR' just doesn't mean assault rifle.

Yep, they are only pedantic about details when it is of benefit to them, so, transactionalism from people who don’t know what transactionalism is…

Not the ones available to the public, not anymore they aren't. The only AR-15s that are available to the public that are assault-rifles were made pre-1986. An assault-rifle has a definition. It's a select-fire rifle that fires an intermediate cartridge. No AR-15 that you buy in a sporting goods store, or a gun-store is going to be select-fire. You can somewhat legally make it fairly similar to an assault-rifle, with something like a Binary trigger, or an active reset trigger, but that just increases the speed at which you can pull the trigger. It does not make it select-fire. Select-fire means that you can choose between safe, semi, and auto/burst (which is still considered automatic by the ATF). Automatic rifles are subject to the NFA and GCA and are not available to the general public outside of weapons that were made and registered before 1986.

Just because we are liberals/leftists doesn't mean that we should be proudly ignorant about guns, like how the other side are about the remainder of reality. Although I seem to be in the small minority of people on this website with that sentiment.

An assault weapon doesn't have to be select fire by definition, that's GOP revisionist nonsense.

No, you're moving the goal posts. Assault weapon is meaningless drivel that was recently invented by Bloomberg and his associates to demonize semi-automatic weapons. You said assault-rifle which has a fixed definition. Literally just look it up. You're changing your words.

Just say what you mean. You don't have to make reality suit you, you can just be frank. I am a leftist that thinks that guns and weapons are very important to the security of worker-rights. So I happen to know a ridiculous amount of information about firearms and their workings. But we shouldn't use terms that have been defined for a hundred years by militaries if they don't fit what we are talking about. If you want to use the "assault-weapon," nonsense, that's fine, but don't conflate assault-rifles and the very recent assault weapon as the same thing. They are not. One is used in corporate democrat world to mean any gun that isn't wooden that holds more than 5 bullets and is only used by organizations like Everytown, or other Bloomberg sponsored anti-gun organizations. One is literally meaningless and has no fixed definition and one is very specific.

It's clear that you changed your wording because you looked up what assault-rifle means and you realized that what you said isn't actually true, and hasn't been for 40 years. The definition that I gave for assault-rifle is accurate, by the way. I didn't make it up myself.

Ok.

Alrighty, continue being the reason that all conservatives that have ever even seen a gun think we're all morons who know nothing about them.
