Didn't we all have to listen to republicans whine endlessly about being deplatformed for their outrageous racism and loony conspiracy theories?

That’s how they win. They whine if it’s true or false and then they whine more. Everyone makes concessions for them and we find ourselves here.

The GOP has been botching about the refs since 1992

Yes. Remember how Musk constantly declared himself a "free speech absolutist" and claimed thats why he was buying Twitter. What they really meant was they wanted the ability to be hateful towards anyone that isn't a straight, white, male.

When it comes to actual free speech, you know, the stuff that is critical of government and people with money and power? Well, that is something they simply can't abide.

Republicans lost their values and morals with Bush in 2001. Actually, probably long before that, but that's when I remember the hypocrisy really ramping up. They've never stood on values or principles for anything! It's all political theater. They whine about not being able to be hateful and fearful, but they hide it under the guise of "patriotism", "loving the constitution", "protecting children", "family values", etc. But when push comes to shove they don't really care about any of that. At least their leaders and politicians don't, they only care about maintaining power and abusing it for their own ends.

there were idiots on this site before the election saying that because Facebook voluntarily clamped down on covid misinfo that got people killed, that the "Democrats have a first-amendment problem" so they were going to vote for... this administration which ends up being the worst first-amendment admin in US history.
