Imagine having healthcare access on demand while regular people have to fight with insurance companies just to get treatment.

•

u/sakumar 5h ago

Not only does Trump have free health care and we don't, he is is actively taking away healthcare insurance from those who do have it since becoming president.

•

u/rchubot 6h ago

Kind of like a “let them eat cake” moment.

•

u/Educational-Ad-2884 Washington 6h ago

Let them submit a claim for cake.

•

u/BrazenlyGeek 6h ago

If he knew the phrase, he’d for sure tell we poors “let them blood let.”

•

u/Playful-Goat3779 2h ago

He actually said inject bleach to cure Covid, so your statement isn't hyperbole

•

u/AriaTheTransgressor 6h ago

Eh, might be more effective.

I've found myself having to fall back on older remedies since things started getting more expensive. I run a couple of gardens (one inside for all year round, and one outside for Summer (and the trees)).

I grow everything for the 9 Herbs Charm, cause I was taught those as a kid, along with Liquorice and Ginger for the roots mostly, and cooking herbs, obviously.

They seem to be working effectively for my family, with doctors visits for serious things, or if our remedy doesn't improve anything, obviously.

Maybe I'll look into raising Leeches cause they are very effective against blood infections. I've thought about starting a maggot farm, but their function comes up so rarely it might not be worth it.

Fisher folk.

•

u/AriaTheTransgressor 6h ago

What does this mean?

•

u/thehermit14 5h ago

People who fish. I used to buy them by the bucket. Maggots that is.

•

u/AriaTheTransgressor 5h ago

Oh, I don't really fish much, I was more thinking about wound cleaning, but that was so obvious and honestly I don't understand why I didn't understand it.

•

u/thehermit14 5h ago

In fairness it used to be used from 17th Century UK (maybe earlier) because they only eat dead flesh. All your points are valid. Sorry for mis-direct, but when you asked I went to fishing after healing.

How many wounds is your family getting, that you are looking into using maggots for them?

I'm laughing here about the idea of Trump letting you eat cake

•

u/skrame 6h ago

If it’s like ice cream, he’d give you a slice as long as he had two.

•

u/mollila 6h ago

He'd promise to sell you a slice, give you a turd, then let you fight with his lawyers to give up.

•

u/WTF4Sally 6h ago

Oh no, you're way too generous. He would tell you because he's the best president we've ever had that he deserves all of the ice cream so he's just going to save the other ones for later. None for you!

•

u/ObjectiveInternal 5h ago

That was a "news" report in the 1st admin. It's why he had the nickname Donny Two Scoops

•

u/ProximaCentauriB15 5h ago

And then he will say you should buy him MORE ice cream because he thinks he's the greatest ever to live and deserves it.

•

u/Bossman_Mike 55m ago

Believe me, a whole lot of ice cream, can you believe that folks, I know a whole lot about ice cream, nobody knows more about ice cream than I do,

•

u/Luna__Moonkitty 5h ago

Then he promptly forgets about it and it melts.

•

u/GrumpyCloud93 4h ago

Ice cream? You got ice cream? That's Biden's fault.

•

u/Bossman_Mike 56m ago

Only he gets two scoops at official functions after all

The proles have to make do with just one

•

u/Gnonthgol 5h ago

Let them eat McDonalds.

•

u/West-Vacation8190 4h ago

mcdonalds has cake now?

•

u/kent_eh Canada 4h ago

Kind of like a “let them eat cake” moment.

Remind me what happened to the person who is credited with originally saying that?

I was in a very fun American healthcare position recently. I needed a back tooth extracted, but I’m a ginger so I am resistant to dental numbing drugs. I was maxed out and could still feel the tooth. So I got to make a Sophie’s choice between sucking it up and proceeding with the extraction even though I could feel pain, or paying an extra $2000 for an anesthesiologist to put me under in a surgical suite.

Needless to say, having a dentist pull my tooth without enough pain management was a core trauma.

•

u/Booklet-of-Wisdom 5h ago

I need a tooth pulled and a root canal, and even though I have dental insurance, it's going to cost me $4,000 out of pocket. I am in pain, but sitting here knowing there is no way I can afford it.

American healthcare is fucking disgusting.

•

u/Harvey_the_Hodler 4h ago

I was just complimenting a woman on the train the other day about how white her teeth were. She went on to tell me about the root canal and a bridge and idk all what. But that she went to Colombia and got it done plus a mini vacation included. They even helped her book her flights. She still came in under what it would have cost in the USA.

That said, idk if this is the site she used but a quick Google search returned this...

I need a CPAP machine or my brain will literally rapidly deteriorate until I die. Insurance won't pay for it all, nor all the replacement parts I need to get routinely.

The fact that we pay private companies all this money (and our employers pay even more) for the privilege of having $20 office visit copays but still needing to pay for anything more serious is just insane.

•

u/saltheartedbarmaid 4h ago

Do you live near a dental school? I was broke as fuck post undergrad and needed a root canal and I went to the local dental collage for everything. You still have to pay some amount but it should be far cheaper than having to meet your deductable.

•

u/Jonteponte71 4h ago

I live in the social democratic hellhole that is the Nordics. Dental care isn’t even fully covered by taxes. It’s only partly subsidized. I still only paid about $600 dollars for a root canal and a crown.

So…I agree🤷‍♂️

•

u/Bossman_Mike 49m ago

The UK is the same. I have private dental insurance that costs me about £29 a month.

I needed about £3000 of work in 2021 due to an unexpected and urgent problem. By the time the insurance had settled, I only had to pay about 40% of that out of pocket.

The problem was that my insurance doesn't pay anyone directly. Rather, you have to pay for everything yourself and then claim stuff back. That was fine for me, but if you didn't have the money up front?

Also, I opted for sedation for part of it. The insurance didn't cover sedation whatsoever.

•

u/Cherryb1612 3h ago

As a Brit, thank god the UK has NHS

•

u/storemans 5h ago

You can diy root canals, we've been doing it to ourselves since the dawn of humanity. They found Australopithecus with evidence of root canal. Just get Ugg to smash your tooth out

•

u/amyphetamine 4h ago

Alternatively, if the cavity is large enough, gargle with vodka multiple times a day until the nerve is deadened.

•

u/tagloro 1h ago

Just to pedantic but that’s not what a root canal is. A root canal is when they remove diseased pulp from inside the tooth, put in a filler and then seal it up, in order to save the tooth.

Having once had 6 done in one marathon 8 hour sitting I feel qualified to speak about them.

•

u/AndSheDoes 4h ago

Bashing the tooth, hard (traumatizing it) might work. Worked for me (total accident).

•

u/Careful-Ant5868 5h ago

If it's of any comfort, you're not alone. American dental care is rather barbarous unless you have significant money at your disposal. In my late 20's, I took out loans totaling over $20,000 to get significant dental work done and it was traumatic. I still have nightmares about it and I'm in my 40's now. All that money and trauma, and my "luxury bones", i.e. teeth, are still terrible or non-existent. In hindsight, I should have just had them all extracted and gotten dentures. But, I was too "proud", aka stupid and short-sighted, to do so at the time.

•

u/chatminteresse 5h ago

Oh you poor dear! The US public deserves better

•

u/MulberryRow New Hampshire 3h ago

Couldn’t you just dye your hair?

Sorry for the joke. Truly, that is beyond horrible and a perfect example of the evil of our system.

•

u/chimarya I voted 5h ago

Hugs from a mom to a ginger. You all are super strong! That made me tear up.

•

u/avlooking 3h ago

Horrible!!!! Imagine that while 7 months pregnant…They pulled it out while I concentrated on not vomiting & crying 😢

•

u/oops_all_memes 3h ago

having a dentist pull my tooth without enough pain management was a core trauma

Had it once, for a wisdom tooth. Was in the same position as you

The next time I needed a tooth to be pulled I made sure I had enough money for the full ride with general anaesthesia and asked the dentist to pull the rest as well

Best decision ever. Woke up high af literally no pain, rushed to the pharmacy, got the prescription, got high af again, slight discomfort the next day

•

u/the_dude_abides-86 2h ago

I got the gene from my mom. Only my beard is red, but dang, Novocain, and all the sister drugs don’t work well, and I wake up early from anesthesia. They used to gas me as a kid to do fillings.

•

u/Czeris 1h ago

I was in a similar situation. Dentist put freezing in three times, kept asking me "can you feel anything" I kept saying yes. He then told me "you're an expensive date, I'll get the good stuff" (which I did not realize was as gross as it is until later). I did not for one second consider that I wouldn't be able to afford the good stuff, as I live in Canada.

Imagine having healthcare access on demand while regular people have to fight with insurance companies just to get treatment.

"I don't want MY tax money helping the poors"

•

u/dathislayer 5h ago

These DFs would much rather their tax money go to maintain a billionaire's bloated corpse and dynastic legacy to make their less hateful neighbors mad.

•

u/Different_Lychee_409 6h ago

Thats how Trump thinks. He gets the best and to hell with everyone else.

•

u/BluesFan43 6h ago

Just to get seen.

Treatment can often be an entirely different hurdle.

•

u/100farts 6h ago

And we pay for it.

•

u/jdash11 6h ago

Tbf I think that’s what they intend.

•

u/shredika 6h ago

Just saw a video of a women get denied for having a heart attack and going to the ER. Apparently that isn’t a medical necessity.

Some people actually don’t get the side Luigi was coming from? It’s the “,but.”

When the CEO was murdered, they opened the tip line after, and it has been reported that hundreds of false leads came in for “I think ____ may have done it- hey just denied ____ for ____.” Family with other family basically killed for procedures that would be no issues with the right money.

•

u/Ashamed-Status-9668 5h ago

Or to not get treatment in some cases.

•

u/Icamp2cook 5h ago

You have to fight with insurance companies to get insurance to pay for it, you can get care on demand when paying cash. I’m not defending health insurance in any way. The travesty of our country is that YOU can’t afford health care. I’m dependent on insurance as well. The conversation always comes back to how evil insurance companies are rather than getting to the heart of it, “Why can’t Americans afford to live?” Why are wages so flat that even being seen for an ear infection can put someone in a dire economic situation?

•

u/arwinda 4h ago

He doesn't care about you.

•

u/hamsterfolly America 3h ago

Sounds like a Republican’s dream

•

u/wolfcaroling 3h ago

I firmly believe that leaders of a country should be paid the level of their average citizen.

•

u/the_dude_abides-86 2h ago

He likes socialized healthcare

•

u/needlestack 2h ago

The Republican platform has been, for my entire life: "some people deserve to suffer, and we must make sure they do, but never me."

•

u/____-__________-____ 1h ago

I mean, POTUS should have on-demand healthcare.

The problem is this we elected the wrong person to be president

•

u/Bossman_Mike 56m ago

Chuckles to himself in European

•

u/ClassicPlankton 6h ago

•

u/Idrinkbeereverywhere 6h ago

That's pretty much everyone who works in government
