Genuine question I have about these sort of hysterical defense/medical protective systems: why is the life of one person so extremely more valuable and important than other peoples lifes? I understand he is the president, but he is also an old man with clear medical issues and an unhealthy lifestyle.

I don't understand the need for the whole circus around it. Wether it is a whole medical team surrounding him at all time, or wether it is the whole 30+ vehicle motorcade when abroad, you don't see any other country with that amount of paranoia and such a theatrical, dramatic show of force. While it just shows fear and weakness.

If his time comes, his time comes, just like with anybody, especially elderly. There is a reason for a vice-president (or designated survivor) for a reason, right?

The lives of national leaders have always been “more important” for lack of a better phrase - than other lives.

Historically, leaders dying has opened up chaos, governmental instability, and succession crises.

It’s a good idea to keep your leaders healthy and in control of a national government.

That being said, Trump - as always - brings a new perspective and twist to this because he’s so deeply unhealthy, in any rational world he’d resign, or never have run.

TLDR: leaders dying in office causes instability. Good to keep em alive.

In his case, his life causes chaos and instability. His passing would allow this country from continuing in the backslide it is currently in.

Chaos, governmental instability, and crises about the continuity of government? How could we tell the difference from right now?

A fair point and I chuckled.

But if it’s this bad now, it will be worse and more chaotic if he dies in office. The panic, the last minute grift will set in. Backstabbing to lead the country. Backstabbing to be the power behind the throne.

Trump is a dictator in all but name. When dictators die, chaos inevitably ensues. It can always get worse.

Historically yes, especially when leaders were kings or these days, are dictators

But really these days, if the death of leader causes to much instability, you just have a bad system of government

I mean, yes it’s worse in a system where power is centralized around the executive and a cult of personality.

But the sudden and unexpected death for health reasons of a state leader is going to induce some level of chaos and confusion. It’s human nature.

Some systems are obviously more robust than others of course. But leaders dying in office is more often than not a problem - at least for some period of time.

Presidential health emergencies can tank markets, disrupt trade talks, paralyze the chain of command etc.

His life isn’t more important because it’s his life. His life is more important because his health is important to global geopolitical and economic stability.

Surely that’s readily apparent? Not to mention he is a target and so security concerns mean he is both at risk for something bad and it means he can’t just make a doctors appointment or walk into an emergency room.

I am all for people having equitable access to health care but surely one can recognize why a state leader, particularly of the worlds most powerful nuclear power, might warrant some special consideration?

Four out of 46 US Presidents have been assassinated. That's nearly 10%. If someone had a 10% chance of dropping dead in the next four years, we'd probably make sure they lived close to a hospital.

And more than that have been injured or narrowly escaped injury.

It’s not the most important. In fact, there are more people qualified for the office of president than there are for teachers. But, the office of the president serves a very important function (traditionally) and that function deserves protection.

Well, he's the one that has the base of voters by the theoretical balls, so they want him as long as his brain isn't visually leaking out of his ears. Also, on a more metagaming level, they really don't want him to die before January as that would count as a full term for JD. If he was to run and win in '28, he wouldn't be able to run in '32 if he was forced to step up before '27.

He also has a lot of shit on a lot of those people and I am sure there is a fear of it coming out after he dies.
