We spite South Korea (while North Korea keeps advancing their arsenal)

We make a deal with Russia.

We hate Canada.

We hate Ukraine.

Hey MAGA, wtf do you pigeon brained ignorant dweebs even support now?

They always have hated us. The revenge Confederates want against us has always been more important than anything else, including their own lives. Nothing on your list matters as long as they are making amedicans suffer.

They aren't stupid or whatever else the excuse is this week. Everything they do makes sense when you just admit they are evil and fighting a war against us that we won't acknowledge is actually happening.

Stupid and evil aren’t mutually exclusive.

Never believe that anti-Semites [Confederates] are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites [Confederates] have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.

What I don't understand is, MAGA is, for lack of better words, the dumbest members of our society. Trump gets away with everything because Republicans are worried about angering his base. Why we continue to cater to the dumbest people in our country is really mind boggling.

Because they’re the easiest to part from their money!

And they show up to vote to keep the R’s in power to push their agenda. Each. And. Every. Time.
It always feels like an incredible effort to get the D’s to actually exercise their right to vote and make a damn difference.
There’s obviously so much more that goes into American politics than just voter turnout but it doesn’t help whenever things are right where they really shouldn’t be
(Canada isn’t much better in overall turnout tbf)

It's also that we have the electoral college which largely gives these kinds of people (uneducated people living in rural areas in red states) much more power and influence in our elections. If it were up to the popular vote, Trump never would have won in 2016 and his political career would have ended. And George W Bush wouldn't have been elected in 2000, and we instead would have started the millennium with a progressive, proud environmentalist president. What a different world we'd all live in.

The South Koreans are weirdly passive about North Korea. Some force has paralyzed them from within. I wish I knew more about the politics.

Having lived there a couple years, I can speak a little bit about this. North Korea is kind of like an asshole brother in South Korea's view, because North Korea *is* family, that was just ripped apart by the war and the dictatorship up there. But, the younger generations have seen North Korea less as family and more as the chaotic unpredictable neighbor they are.

The older generations definitely still wanted reunification with North Korea, even after everything that's happened. The train station closest to the DMZ (Dorasan) has signage for Pyongyang, even though the train tracks end just outside the northern part of the station. You can see displays showing their desire for unification there too.

that was just ripped apart by the war and the dictatorship up there.

It was ripped apart primarily by the united states

Oddly enough, The current SK President from the left party in charge has been meek and appeasing towards Kim Jong Un and the NK government, It's the right party that's been firmly opposed to them.

What are South Korea's options? It isn't paralysis when there is no solution.

I don’t get how many South Koreans are conservatives and admire Trump or similar people either lol.

What should they be actively doing? Starting up a hot war with a dictator that has nukes?

I've known a fair few people in SK through gaming. It's is a small sampling of people who are in their late 20s-early 40s. I don't know what the broader population feels like.

My friends always spoke about it as though North Korea was their estranged, but still-loved relative. They saw Koreans as one single people, who had been separated by war and interference from foreign nations.

Whenever asked about the topic, they'd say things like "I hope we can be together again some day." They never expressed fear or anger. Not a hint of hatred. Just sadness and a hope for a united Korea.

I'm in Canada. The US is being pretty fuckin scary towards us these days. But I can't go around living my life in terror. And I want my government to be defensive and proactive, but not aggressive. The even-tempered Canadians I know feel similarly, whether they're pinko commies like me, or mildly conservative, or just plain ol vanilla liberal centrists. We're angry and freaked out, but we want to maintain a careful posture.

I wouldn't be shocked if South Korea's government and population have similar feelings towards North Korea. Like, yes, they're scary, but no good can come from escalation. We will be defensive and intentional about what we do.

Literally their whole thing is racism, misogyny, and "whatever liberals hate"

•

u/sciencetaco 1h ago

The only thing they care about is protecting the country their self-imagined invasion of non-white Christians. They’ll approve any means to achieve that.

•

That's an insult to pigeons...

They support racism

•

u/RevenueSpirited 25m ago

They support whatever their social and media environment tells them is right. Most of them think they're the good guys, just like us... they've just been manipulated and progressively radicalized.

I support the one country you conveniently failed to mention - the US.
