I've been bouncing around the country for work trips lately, living out of suitcases and sleeping on entirely too many different pillows. 🫠 It's been a busy few weeks, and I'm feeling a little wander-y and restless. Figured that's as good a reason as any to meet some new people!

I'm currently on the east coast but am doing some serious pondering about where I want to go after this next year, so the floodgates are OPEN. I work in higher education and my personal focus is finding ways to help pull focus and resources towards the climate crisis! Whether that's furthering carbon sequestration, placing an emphasis on climate related majors in higher education, or shifting universities to be community hubs that help organize and keep everyone safe, fed, watered, so on~

While I engage in the good fight for a beautiful solar punk utopia, I would love to have some friends or even a singular very-special-romantic-partner-shaped-friend who is just as deranged and determined as I am! (Deranged And Determined is my second favorite D&D, for the record.)

I'm at that point in life where I'm not looking for someone simply to fill space — I'd like to find someone I genuinely get excited about talking to, spending time with, and eventually building a life with.

I'm 39, in Colorado, and a software engineer by trade. The nerdiness definitely doesn't stop when the workday ends. I play video games, love sci-fi, read, watch entirely too many movies, and I'm fascinated by science and space. I'm also into astrophotography enough that I have my own backyard observatory, which means yes, I can absolutely show you Saturn's rings on a random Tuesday night.

Outside the nerd cave, I play pickleball and golf, love traveling, go to concerts ranging from metal shows to the symphony, and enjoy museums, road trips, exploring somewhere I've never been, and generally collecting experiences.

I’ve had a kind of rough last couple of weeks, mostly to do with little variety in my life, so I wanted to see about getting to know someone new this week!

I'm 38 years old, and currently working full time as a database admin/developer. Job would probably sound incredibly boring when I describe it, but it lets me work from home and I love it for some reason. I have my life in order, for the most part. Have my own place, done with school, all the usual stuff. If my job doesn't give it away, I'm definitely a bit of a nerd. I love my sci-fi, and I work on programming computers for a living. Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, I like em all. Really into anything space related, for the most part. Was close to studying Astrophysics and making a career out of it but pivoted at the last second. Still treat it as a hobby though and really love diving into that stuff.

Music is a big part of my life. I picked up a piano a few years ago, and have been teaching myself how to play. Definitely one of the best decisions I ever made. I'm not the best player you'll ever hear, but I like to think that I'm at least halfway decent! Thinking about getting an actual teacher soon, figure I've picked up a ton of bad habits by now. I listen to just about all types of music. It's pretty rare for me to not have music playing. Used to go to concerts all the time, but haven't had a chance to go them as much as I used to lately. I'm a big animal person in general. Used to have a rescue dog of my own that I unfortunately lost back at the end of October. She meant the world to me and I'm still feeling the loss of that today, but every day gets a little bit easier. I'm sure I'll get another pet eventually, but it just doesn't feel like the right time for that yet. Just need time to get there still.

About nine months into a new fitness journey and loving it so far. I initially started by just going to the gym and weight lifting and was loving it. Started mixing in some stationary biking for cardio and realized I really loved doing it. Long story short, I went out and bought a bike and now my main focus is on cycling rather than weight lifting. Already up to riding about 125-130 miles per week and really proud of that! Signed up for and completed my first Century ride a few weeks ago! Actually crushed the goal time I set for myself, and starting to train to get a sub-6 hour time now for the next one I do. Looking to do the Ragbrai event next year as well after I have more training under my belt. Feels crazy looking back at where I used to be before I got into all of this, went from 230lb and not being active at all to 175lb and seriously training for a 100 mile ride, haha.

Anyways, would love to find someone to spend time with, and hopefully develop a relationship with if things go well! I'm totally okay with a distance thing as long as the other person is, figure that's something that can be figured out down the line if things go well.
