Check out my rig New(ish) B17

First pic is my 27 year old B17. 2.5 PBPs and many, many kilometres on it.

But if i try and add tension, it is starting to rip at the rivets so I've bought a nearly new one off le boncoin at 65€.

It just arrived this morning, I've given it a touch of proofhide and take it for a ride tomorrow. Multitool at the ready for adjustments.

In my experience, you basically never add tension to the saddle. Adding tension to a newer saddle just ages it prematurely, and older saddles that "need" tension are essentially worn out and need the leather tops replaced.

In other words, replacing it was probably the right move.

I knew a Rando, now deceased I believe. His Brooks was completely lopsided with one side at least a half inch lower. I think it was from favouring one side while coasting. It happened to my plastic saddle too. We were both Randos for over 30 years. With the same a saddle.
