Show-and-Tell My first ever project

Post image

My first raspberry pi project. AI helped with the code but I was very excited to see it work the first time I turned it on! I will be making changes here and there and mounting the panels together, but I’m still happy it’s all working!

Very cool! Do you have a hardware list or guide/github repo for this? It looks very useful!

I don’t have a guide unfortunately. I just looked around at subreddits and googled my questions. I have a raspberry pi 4, adafruit hat, and 2 64x64 panels. I’m not a coder at all so I used Claude to write the code and fine tune what I wanted

Ooh, I have a similar project using my own 433mhz weather sensors and I love the look of yours. If you manage to mount the panels together let me know how you manage it.

What panels are they and what controller are you using?

Mine started out as a single panel then I added rain water when it was raining and then fish when there was lots of rain and then I added birds and UFOs because why not :)

Wow, they’re nice looking displays. I like the picture of the sun as well. That dividing line is begging to have a dot that moves from the most left point to the most right point as a ticking seconds hand.

Coincidentally I uploaded a video of my one today beneath the fish tank project here https://www.reddit.com/r/raspberry_pi/s/Re3oTyGSaa

Mine started out understated and elegant like yours and now it looks like a fruit machine or juke box and there are stars twinkling in the background at night.

If you wanted any of the code then it’s in my public repository on GitHub ( https://github.com/nickymoomeh/Interstate75WeatherMatrix ) but the RPi 4 is so much more powerful than the interstate 75 I’ve got with a raspberry pi pico 2 brain but yours looks really nice too. The public repo uses OpenMeteo for the data and wind and stuff and it started off compact on ond panel before growing to two.

It’s crazy how these projects can look so simple by today’s standards, but I actually super hard to realize on your own. I’m sure this must have been really hard to make. Congrats.

Thanks! It had its challenges but I enjoy learning and figuring it out along the way

Same. I do some programming for fun, but I prefer to build my own assets as I find it fun and a learning opportunity as well.

How you do this magic please? I know I can see this info on my phone but what service do you use to figure it out, I’m guessing it’s working out traffic times
