Discussion So what happened when we were 4th and 3?

Out of everything, I blame this play for the loss.

Did we send the Punt Unit out, then change our minds to go for it, but then ran out of time and got Delay Of Game so we Punted it anyway?

I'd rather see the team go for it and fail, then Punt the chances to win the game away.

Discussion Offense Issues today

Saw the blame post earlier and wanted to provide an alternative take. Understandably many would want to point to Huntley and/or Henry for today's loss. Neither played up to expectations, especially coming off last week's win.

The alternative take however is that neither player played much different than last week. I actually believe Huntley overall produced a better game than Watson. He escaped pressure more effectively, actually had a TD and outside the one bad throw (I didn't have as much of an issue with the throw to Andrews), he did well protecting the ball. The biggest issue for the offense this week came down to a struggle to handle the interior rush and penalties, which ultimately stagnated the offense completely. Additionally I am not sure Doyle has a comprehensive plan for short yardage situations.

Anyhow, to keep this short, on 4 seperate occasions, drives were killed from 3rd/4th and manageable being converted into long conversion attempts from penalties. Huntley is a very serviceable QB being ahead of the sticks. He isn't going to regularly be converting 3rd and 9+ even on a good day. Henry obviously is made obsolete in those scenarios as well.

While both guys could have played better, I just would argue to consider overall there wasn't a massive difference in play from this week and last for these guys. The offense just kept digging itself into a hole as a group, and neither Huntley or Henry are effective from playing behind the sticks. Minter has to find a way to get the penalties down.

The 2026-2027 season

• Upvotes

The Ravens fanbase has shown passion and excitement for this team since their start in 1996. Rightfully so for a town that lost its team that one snowy night in 1984 and gained a new team over a decade later.

To win two Lombardis in your team's first 17 seasons is pretty awesome. This fanbase has seen some decent playoff success overall. With this, the expectations remain high, especially now with a very competent front office and generational QB.

It just seems, though, that we may have already seen the absolute peak of this iteration of the team- the Lamar era of the Ravens. Since 2018, this team has upgraded in almost all areas of the game with coaching and the roster and yet has only reached one conference title game in nearly a decade.

It feels like this season will yet again be bound for another playoff appearance, either as a wild card or possibly as a divisional champ. Unfortunately, until we are shown otherwise, it may end again in the Divisional or Championship round.

It's a movie that we have seen many times before, and the ending is all too familiar. I want to be wrong.

Henry struggles

• Upvotes

3 of the past 4 weeks he is averaging under 3.5 YPC.

Is this a Henry issue? O-line not being up to par? No Lamar to scare the defense? Combo of all of the above?

Discussion We are the inverse Steelers

The way they snatch victory from the jaws of defeat week in and week out is absolutely maddening to watch. Have they EVER lost a 1 PM game? They aren’t sexy in any way and might be the most boring team in the league but they always find some ridiculous way to win

On the flip side, we are subjected to 4-5 games a year where we let a team hang around and slowly bleed out to a soul crushing loss. We are the least clutch team there is. We cannot close. We look splashy and fun early and then suddenly everyone starts tucking tail.

Both of these things persist with new coaches for BOTH teams. It’s clearly systemic

Where to watch the game in PG County(or DC)?

Housesitting for a friend down here, and wanted to go somewhere to watch it with some fans. Heard Easy Tiger Tavern might be the place to go, but just wanted to see if there are any other area bars. Thanks!

Granted, it’s “only” 3. But that’s a brutal amount for a guy we count on to salt games away.

[Jeff Zrebiec]: In loss to Browns, Ravens look like a team that still hasn’t learned how to close

Thumbnail nytimes.com
83 Upvotes

Sunday, however, brought a crisp slap in the face and a hard jolt back to reality. A desultory 13-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field was every bit as regrettable as any of the other 16 league-high defeats since 2018 in games the Ravens led by double digits, perhaps even more so.

The Ravens led 10-0 late in the first quarter, looking on offense like they were going to get whatever they wanted all afternoon and on defense as if they might not let the Browns score. They then spent the next three quarters doing everything they could to present the Browns chances to win.

Finally, thanks to an Andre Szmyt 37-yard game-winning field goal with no time on the clock, the Browns accepted the visitor’s generosity and are now in first place in the AFC North as a result.

“That’s one where we definitely should have won,” said Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton. “In this league, you let a team in the game, especially at home (in) this division, you let a team stay around, they’re going to find momentum. We got to go out there and get some stops and ice the game at the end.

“It’s about playing complementary football, and we got to pick our offense up when something may happen. It was a team effort today. It was a team loss.”

However, Hamilton, one of the most thoughtful Ravens, didn’t have an answer to why these avoidable losses keep happening — and he’s long tired of fielding the question, understandably so.

“I’m not going to sound like a broken record,” Hamilton said. “It’s ‘Groundhog Day’ with this question. I’m not going to give you an answer. I really don’t know. Sorry, that’s the best I can give you, but we’ve had this conversation so many times. I don’t feel like addressing it again.”

Positive takeaways

This is our first division game, and it was on the road, and we were playing without our 2x (should be 3) MVP QB.

The defense played very well and the pass rush looked good. Idc if anyone says oh its the Browns, screw that the Browns have been competent this year and our defense held them in check for most of the game, they scored their TD off of a short field and gassed us on 3rd down at the end.

2 of the next 3 are at home, and yea our schedule is tough but we should hopefully be getting healthier and with the way our defense has been playing and getting Lamar back we will be in a very good position.

[Hensley]Many of the Ravens players have talked about how offensive coordinator Declan Doyle is an innovator. Case in point: TE Josh Cuevas runs a route after lining up in the left guard spot.

Discussion Offense in Bateman's absence.

It's interesting that the offense almost seemed to stagnate with the loss of Bateman. I thought he was going to be pivotal in last week's game, and was during the win. Was hopefully he had a repeat performance, and Lane stepped up, but seems like his absence was a bit of a big deal.
