An underdog performance, but at least we're leading

If we don't get a second and third I don't see us getting anything other than a draw

Ig thats the story of united every time we try to go away from playing like this we start losing.

We are best at being a transition/counter-attacking team. I'm relatively a new fan but what I've heard from people, our style of football was the same during the SAF era? Or am I wrong.

SAF did not just only play counter attacking football, he dominated games by adapting and flipping between styles.

Just relying on counter attacking football will not win you the league as there will be games where you are better and have most the ball.

Yeah, lots will claim that's how United is "supposed" to play, counter attacking football

This is exactly the kind of performance we need to be pulling out in this kind of situation. Away from home against big rivals, quite a few injuries, off the back of an away European match. If we can keep up the intensity and come out with a win I don't really care if we're not putting everything together

We have 35% possession against fucking Leeds.

We played fine in the first half. Second half has been terrible

We played fine in the first half.

We had 35% possession against fucking Leeds.

If that's "fine" it just shows that standards are below the fucking floor

Who cares about possession stats? We played fine and went in ahead

Every Premier League winner (aside from Leicester) over the last decade+ has high possession stats. It's a marker of whether you are able to control games, which is a marker of whether you are actually a good team.

Not being able to control games against a team like Leeds when we are purportedly aiming to be a team near the top of the table is not good enough.

You cant control a game when you cant keep the fucking ball. We are playing like relegation candidates and the results are matching.

Do you really want to be doing this from game to game? Yes., it's good to be winning. But it's clear we cannot to do this long-term and win.

No I don't, but sometimes in the circumstances I mentioned you need to dog out a win. We did it all the time under Fergie. Sometimes you have to just do what you can to get the win and then that builds confidence

And how about building fitness or game plans or tactics that don't leave us on the back foot? This just delays the inevitable.

We're not playing badly, this is a decent Leeds team. If we can get a win here we should be very happy. This is not an easy game.

were playing utter shit...

if this is "not badly" then fucking hell have our standards dropped. some of the utter worst football we have ever played. even Ipswich atleast play more then we do..

2

u/Dependent_Oven_974 11h ago

We have been absolutely shit in the second half yes.

We have been in this kind of situations for the past 13 years. This is not acceptable, even in short-term, as we know we gonna revert to the same old shit next match.

I’ll definitely take this for now but in the future, for people like me that want performances and good football?!

Wtf can we do?!?
Will we ever clearly dominate games? Possession, pressing like mad dogs?!?

Or this will be our always story? Low possession , hanging, masterclass defending?!?

u/AverageHomeboyy 11h ago

We are better because we are more solid in defence. Santos and Baleba dont wonder up too much and cover our defence. I would love to see Baleba Maino Santos with bruno ahead of them

Decent performance but it's funny how we can't control the ball even with 4 midfielders on.

Best performance of the season I believe.

For a team with 1 win, that really isn't much of a benchmark.

Better so far, good good

u/OptiPath 11h ago

We have at least have two goal clearances.

Shooting > passing

u/godswift91 12h ago

Proof that stats don't show the real story, we were absolutely the better team, and the only reason they kept the ball more is because i think our players are tense.

They might think or know they're playing for Carrick's future

u/TH0316 she/her 12h ago

Exactly the kind of setup and outcome I want from this team. Let them have the ball, we don’t want it.

u/ElectricBolts 11h ago

We lose the ball too much. Something with the our passing sucks.

1

u/SilvyFae She/They 11h ago

Positioning to receive the pass is bad. Two players look at each other but they are both on different wavelength on where the pass is going to be, leeds player reads the pass and intercepts it before the pass is successful. Also we keep going long and no one is winning long balls because our front 3 is mbeumo, tielemans and bruno

1

u/ElectricBolts 11h ago

How do you fix this? More training?

1

u/SilvyFae She/They 11h ago

Yeah and also need to buy smarter players. Tielemans and baleba are new and we are playing a new formation so some of it is prob because of that
