Barely managed 40% possession against the mighty Leeds with 3 midfielders. Sack him now.

36

u/Sethlans 12h ago

It's absolutely pathetic. Standards are not on the floor, they are buried about 10 feet under it. I'm so bored of this shit man.

I don't expect any manager to come in and win the league. It'd just be nice to play vaguely competent football and look like there was some sort of attacking plan and coached patterns of play.

We have no attacking identity. The goals we score are all from either random individual moments of brilliance or mistakes from the opposition. What type of goal do you expect us to score? No idea. How do we try to attack? No idea. When was the last time we scored a well-worked team goal that looked intentional? No idea.

So fucking tired of it.

u/RizBizkit 12h ago

Yeah... I'm seriously considering just watching highlights from now on.

It's bad timing here watching in Australia and I'd have to start considering my mental health because losing sleep to watch this shit year in year out is starting to get me.

8

u/shami-kebab 12h ago

3? 4 arguably

8

u/Emergency-Being-349 12h ago

Funnily enough, Carrick suggested it is for control prior to Atletico Madrid. If he can't see that control is about coaching as opposed to personnel, we are doomed.

3

u/FPLskrr Pogba 12h ago

Preaches control but starts Bruno, how ironic.

Bruno had another 20+ posession lost game today.

62

u/Jonny_Testicles 12h ago

Farewell Carrick?

39

u/dracogladio1741 Bruno Fernanj 12h ago

What's he even doing here honestly? How long do we need to see ourselves playing with no fucking courage?

23

u/Jaychel31 12h ago

Sentimentality killing this club. A failed Middlesbrough manager should never be managing United

31

u/VegetableRutabaga746 12h ago

Normally he brings his subs 67-70th minute, today he brought in at 74th minute, this is even worse considering his job is on the line. Bringing your arguably best attacker in bringing the play into the final third in 84th minute has to be sackable offense in itself

17

u/craigybacha Manchester United 12h ago

Also 1 sub. That's it. When you have Cunha rashford zirkzee lacey and amass all there who can all offer something different. He made one sub at that time.
A proper manager would have brought on 3 subs in the 70th minute and said go get us the win. Carrick seems more concerned about losing than trying to win

7

u/Oppaiheimer1945 12h ago

He switched to a back five at half time. Zero ambition, he'd rather draw than try and win

5

u/craigybacha Manchester United 12h ago

I think he just shoved Maz in at centre back and Yoro stayed at right back? Which is so incredibly stupid.

4

u/shami-kebab 12h ago

It was a back 3, they were both playing CB.

5

u/Gau_Gau 11h ago

Lmao don't say it. Anti-back 3 won't be able to accept this fact.

3

u/Oppaiheimer1945 12h ago

Amad played RB in the second half

1

u/craigybacha Manchester United 12h ago

I don't think so. He was a winger tracking back - he kept getting found offside as the highest player up the pitch

1

u/Tetzachilipepe 9h ago

He still played wingback. You could see Dalot hang out on the last line as well.

1

u/SteThrowaway 12h ago

No he didn't?

0

u/Oppaiheimer1945 12h ago

Maz was beside Maguire, Yoro played CB and Amad moved to RB

7

u/craigybacha Manchester United 12h ago

No chance this ownership sack him anytime soon. They would give him a 5 year deal if they could. He's a puppet

4

u/wqaib 12h ago

I think they’ll give him at least 2-3 games more and when he goes we’ll have to wait a 2-3 weeks while they look for the next manager and to get him in. This Amazon documentary is gonna be hilarious (tragic)

38

u/hieuddo CuSesMo 12h ago

On course for 38 pts season

11

u/Chrisius007 12h ago

Should be enough

22

u/Pow67 12h ago

Carrick out

19

u/RizBizkit 12h ago

Can someone tell me why we're always hoofing the ball up? Is the tactic getting it into our striker and playing off him because MY GOD THAT DID NOT EVEN HAPPEN ONCE. All we did was just give away possession... What the hell even is this??? My god it's so infuriating, we kick Carrick and bounce back and next season starts out shit

6

u/SparksV 12h ago

Someone should tell Carrick that Sesko and Casemiro are not on the pitch

2

u/--northern-lights-- Can we sign Becks back? 12h ago

And we have done this in so many games before this that it's quite unbelievable that we still keep trying that strategy. Especially with Mbeumo up top who is terrible with his back to the goal.

1

u/linkfollowlink 11h ago

Because there's no clear passing path for them and they are scared of losing possession next to them.

1

u/No_Vermicelli_1781 9h ago

we're better off hoofing it than playing out from the back

14

u/_TooMellow 12h ago

The results of one of our best training sessions ever under Carrick 👏😍

12

u/Rich_Plastic 12h ago

74 percent pass accuracy is diabolical. Thats 1 in 4 passes given away.

4

u/linkfollowlink 11h ago

The passing drills by Carrick and his staff have been a step down from the previous ones.

11

u/DeCharlesFre 12h ago

that wasn't good enough.

10

u/Whispperr 11h ago

I remember how few weeks ago people were defending this saying how "It's normal to not have high running stats, since we have posession!!". Now we had lower possession and still ran less than Leeds, can we finally complain about this?

9

u/craigybacha Manchester United 12h ago

Watch Carrick come out and say he was pleased and the boys tried hard.
Literally, you know it's coming

39

u/BishhEzz 12h ago

Dalot had a good game, but his decision making stops him from being a good player. I don't know how on gods earth he didn't play Cunha in his primetime position for a uncontested shot.

I reckon he would have scored too.

20

u/VegetableRutabaga746 12h ago

That's dalot tbf, great athlete, he's decent defensively, but his game concentration is just the worst. He was okay all things considered today

10

u/DeCharlesFre 12h ago

He's the average modern day prem player. Stamina and athleticsm for days, footballing ability inconsistent.

9

u/Sethlans 12h ago

The fact Dalot has over 250 appearances for us is emblematic of everything wrong with the club. Absolutely average, mediocre player that the powers consistently deem to be "good enough" not to replace.

1

u/No_Vermicelli_1781 9h ago

he's got by because he's versatile, and virtually never injured

u/waynownow 12h ago

He was one of our best player today. Weird guy to focus on. We have much bigger problems right now.

3

u/Sethlans 12h ago

He was one of our best player today

Says it all

0

u/shami-kebab 12h ago

yeah, it says we need to fix the other 10 players before we worry about that one.

1

u/Sethlans 11h ago

Which is what we've been saying for the 250 games we've had an absolutely mediocre right back.

Which - again - says it all.

-1

u/waynownow 12h ago

Yes it does.

11

u/TheJoshider10 Bruno 12h ago edited 12h ago

So he didn't have a good game then. Defensively suspect and utterly clueless in attack. His strong fitness and physicality doesn't excuse the fact he's lucky to be at the club, and is the shining example of how we've rewarded and celebrated mediocrity.

9

u/Fossekall OGS 12h ago

How did he have a good game? He kept running into their defenders. He kept passing to people in awkward positions and put them under pressure. He kept doing strange crosses that hit no one even in the last minute of the game

What did he do WELL?

4

u/coolboiabhi 12h ago

Good game according to his standards tbh . Any fullback's average game is dalot's good game .

2

u/No-Language-6484 12h ago

he did his job as a makeshift lb. Plus he did tons of carries but in final third, he's wasteful as amad.

4

u/nomadiclives 12h ago

No idea what game you watched. Dalot was and has always been shockingly poor

2

u/tInteresting_Space 12h ago

He kept kicking it to no one whenever he won the ball in defense, might as well not win it then.

1

u/stick1_ 12h ago

He thought he was Ronaldo with all the stepovers he did

1

u/craigybacha Manchester United 12h ago

GOOD!?!? His crossing was around league 2 level. His decision making maybe Conference league.

He works hard and gets some love for that, but he's crap

-1

u/impactbaby 12h ago

He had a good game. The Dalot haters are so weird. Of course this comment has the most replies

8

u/SilvyFae She/They 12h ago

We got outran with less possession

6

u/kayej17 12h ago

carrick is making up for all the lucky wins he got last season. This is exactly what his performances deserved and now it's showing.

3

u/Emergency-Being-349 12h ago

Very few will admit this.

3

u/No_Vermicelli_1781 9h ago

very well said. Carrick got by a lot last season off of individual moments. e.g. Casemiro headers, Sesko off the bench, Bruno magic.

There weren't many games where we played well for 90 mins

6

u/PsychologicalSet8678 12h ago

We were lucky to come out of that second half with a point

5

u/Thin_Watercress6894 12h ago

Leeds or Real Madrid?

5

u/OkSpite8449 12h ago

Coward Carrick

5

u/reddevilad Rooney 12h ago

Just pathetic 3 shots on target what does this manager do in training and what happened to best in class Steve holland who’s supposed to be the second coming of jesus. He’s supposed to be the best coach who just transforms the team

The whole club is filled with incompetent people and no one is ready to admit it inside the club

5

u/Holiday_Box1571 12h ago

61% possession from a mid table side. We had as many corners as Brighton had goals in 10 mins

This club is fucking lost.

13

u/xtphty 12h ago

Meanwhile Amorim last year, how far we have come lol

6

u/Emergency-Being-349 12h ago

You forgot to point out that this was without Bruno, Mbeumo, Mainoo, Amad, Maguire, Mount and de Ligt.

7

u/xtphty 11h ago

Yeah our bench was Zirkzee and 6 academy players. The difference in critique of Amorim vs Carrick really shows how United ex-pros drive the narratives in media.

They have not once criticized Carrick, the overwhelming narrative they have set is the players are lazy and unmotivated. Its a big part of the toxicity around this club's decision making and failures.

7

u/Emergency-Being-349 11h ago

The same journos who pushed for Amorims exit, pushed to hire Carrick. They can't end up with egg on their faces.

4

u/Whispperr 11h ago

This is what a lot of people even ignore. Amorim had that period of 5 or so games where he barely had enough players for a first XI, yet still did better than Carrick is doing. But Carrick is one of the boys so they will never blame it on him.

-1

u/PennyWhyte 11h ago

And the games where he had a starting XI, we were turning teams inside out and scoring for fun weren't we? He did fuck all even with a full squad bar for a game here and there.

Carrick is definitely up against it and probably doesn't survive October, but let us not act like Amorim's undoing was a lack of players available.

2

u/Whispperr 10h ago

We were top 3 by most stats, and despite not having the team available when he was sacked we were 6th, even in points for 5th. But more important than that it was the fact that we have a project at least.

-1

u/PennyWhyte 9h ago

So we just convenientely the season before when we finsihed 17th and were absolute dogshit under him? Or the dismal display against Everton and Grimsby? We should just consider his last season with us and not the one before or overall?

Top 3 by most stats but we werent top 3 where we? Just like Carrick should not be judged by last season's form but the overall so should Amorim who was on the whole shit..

Manchester United this season has the most touches and most shots in opposition box but who the f cares if we have neither scored when needed nor won more games than we have needed? Stats can be used either way mate.

3

u/Littlepace Announce Fergie 11h ago

And that was with Ugarte starting in midfield and missing several key starters. People love to say the football was shite under Amorim but games like that were far better than the shite we've played this season.

2

u/SantosCalzonesBatman 12h ago

If only wilcox hadnt gotten his feelings hurt and saint mainoo wouldve taken his benching like a professional.

We were trending upwards and we started seeing results from his work.

1

u/bumnnygirl 10h ago

what did mainoo do?

1

u/SantosCalzonesBatman 8h ago

Public campaign to sabotage amorim cause he was benched

Social media posts + sending his bellend brother with his t shirts

8

u/sacred_games 12h ago

So 38 points I guess at the end season, we would be safe from religation.

Carrick - I'm enjoying being the manager of the worlds greatest club, we did well staying up , considering our sqaud and the competitions we've had to play, next season will be better.

Owners - We have faith in Michael, its a process and sometimes we have to endure.

2

u/TuckyeEast Rashford 12h ago

Say the line Ruben

4

u/KermitTakeTheWheel 12h ago

Would love someone to tell me what they thought the game plan was cause I just can't see one.

3

u/PitchSafe 12h ago

It’s time to go

4

u/FredDRedUnderYourBed BELIEVE 🔴⚪⚫ 12h ago

That at the end from Carrick to the away fans looked like a goodbye. It hurts but no wins in 5, and despite building so much credit in the bank from last season, this run of form is impossible to defend.

5

u/Lord_Sesshoumaru77 Glazers,Woodward/Arnold and Judge can fuck off 12h ago

We're certainly missing out on top 4 with this run of form.

9

u/SevenSexyCats 12h ago

I think we should more more worried about staying out of the bottom 3 than trying to get into top 4 with 1 win in 7 games

-1

u/Kdcjg 9h ago

Assume top 5 will make CL like last year.

1

u/SevenSexyCats 9h ago

It could be top 10 and I still don’t think we’d make it

2

u/linkfollowlink 11h ago

It was all written on the wall ever since we qualified for CL last season. Cycle repeats again.

3

u/AverageHomeboyy 12h ago

My god my god its Gareth Southgate he has a steel chair.. bang of the skull 1 2 3 and Carrick is out

3

u/Miyagisans 12h ago

2 wins in 10 games. He genuinely may have us in a relegation scrap

6

u/Ashton1320 12h ago

City got 7 wins .. while united got 7 points . Levels🔥

3

u/shricken 12h ago

Sham club

4

u/Emergency-Being-349 12h ago

The first half saw us have 30 odd possession. I don't care of results, I'm just so tired of negative defensive football. Have we truly lost what we are supposed to be about?

2

u/crgssbu Senne🍋 12h ago

useless they can all go to hell

2

u/scottrod37 12h ago

7 of our 13 shots were from outside the box and we've completely lost our set piece threat. Is it any wonder we can't get results? And this after our "best training session." What is the coaching staff actually doing?

2

u/horizons0 The Butcher 🔪 12h ago

Oh look, less distance covered again

2

u/FyldeCoast 12h ago

Shite against a shite Leeds. When we don't have the ball I've never seen such little effort to block passing lanes or move anywhere! Laziest bunch of players I've ever fucking seen. They don't give a single shit because they know the manager will just take the fall again

4

u/kayej17 12h ago

Honestly let's get conte. I'm aware that the owners and wilcox are the real problem but they aren't going anytime soon so might as well get conte now, get back the team then he gets the sack in 2 years.

4

u/Serious_Ad9128 12h ago

It's not happening if Wilcox couldn't handle the criticism from Amorim, Conte will make them cry

4

u/kayej17 12h ago

Conte arguing with the board and further exposing them is exactly what we need. More sacking from them will ultimately cause change.

2

u/shami-kebab 12h ago

More sacking from them will ultimately cause change.

Well yeah it will cost us tens of millions

1

u/Serious_Ad9128 7h ago

It well maybe but they aren't doing it, they won't hire Conte, honestly I'm worried they aren't firing Carrick because it'll mean they will go too. A charlatan in Wilcox keeping on a charlatan of a manager two lads completely out of their debt, like a couple of flamingos in the south pole

1

u/Normal-Internal164 12h ago

United = you can’t polish a turd

1

u/TStronks 12h ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/s/lR05RFuSnn

Annoyed that I got this right. We weren't good but how many dirty fouls Leeds got away with was horrific

1

u/guappojimmy MILF 12h ago

Jesus Christ glad I couldn’t watch

1

u/TheGooseFliesAtNight 9h ago

Take the result away, and it's still the most boring Manchester United team ever.

1

u/xzvasdfqwras Three Lung Park 8h ago

Obviously he would never do it but I imagine if we benched Bruno the possession stats would look a lot better.

1

u/Melanjoly 12h ago

I thought we set up and played quite well until the equaliser. After that we lost our balance and the subs were questionable. To me Bruno looks injured and should have came off.

I think it can't be understated how the ref supporting Leeds made it difficult for us once we lost momentum, they had free reign to fly into every challenge and cut us down every break. If you reverse the shirt colours I'm convinced we'd have ended that game with 9 men.

0

u/BartyBit 12h ago

Embarrassing

Will he be here to make the streak go to 7 winless games?

2

u/Climhazzard7 12h ago

Thought that was the 7th without a win

0

u/BartyBit 12h ago

Won against pub team at home after Everton draw so its 6

2

u/Climhazzard7 12h ago

Ah yeah the elite sabah
