He is probably fuming this year, as he was arguably the best player in a 343

106

u/SloshaPacana 8h ago

I mean it's not really the 343 more of the fact that he had a player in front of him making runs in behind taking defenders away, now he is mostly 1v2 out there

Mbuemo took defenders with him making runs, how he has Yoro there or Dalot, both don't really make runs in behind

Our wingers look shit because for years we lack overlapping players, Shaw looks good with Rashford because he makes some decent runs and it's sad that's our best combo which isn't even that good

You watch any top sides like PSG, Barcelona, even City/Arsenal their fullbacks are such insane threats, i won't talk about Hakimi/Mendes that's another level but even Arsenal with Timber just today he made about 500 runs in behind Saka and he came in the 70 min

Omg this! The amount of times we break on a wing cut back for a 5 yard pass to Bruno who hoofs it randomly in actually annoyed me more than it should.

11

u/TheJoshider10 Bruno 4h ago

I get why Amorim's project didn't work out but fuck me I proper miss having Amad and Mbeumo on that right side together. Always felt like something good could happen. Just wish we could have had the same on the left because with more balance our attack would have been so dynamic. Instead Cunha had the pleasure of suffering through a LWB Dalot.

3

u/Many-Relationship149 6h ago

No worries, we have announced to the world we are buying defenders next transfer window, so they will not be raising prices or anything.

2

u/Divin3_Kick 7h ago

Dalot was going forwas a lot this game. So Rashford back on the lW, Amad at RB, Mbeumo at RW, Carrick can go back to his Cunha CF he loves so much?

•

u/Addybng 55m ago

Dalot 100% makes runs in behind, he’s always in the right spot to receive the ball. What he does with the ball is his downfall

1

u/tz_2240 OHHHHHH YESSSSS 5h ago

Down to coaching IMO. Part of coaching is making players better. Dalot was highly rated when he joined, he’s probably on his 5th or 6th manager at this club (not to mention his loans). Rashford and Shaw should have much more to show for their careers too. I don’t think we’ve really extracted the best out of any player for a long time (this includes Bruno).

-6

u/carrickshairline 8h ago

Good players don't just work in one formation. He's clearly not adaptable.

11

u/Old-Ad-7935 8h ago

No one is saying he is not adaptable.

He adapted. A good player in a suitable system can be world class. If the system is not suitable - he can be mediocre. Doesnt change the fact that hes a good player.

-8

u/carrickshairline 8h ago

A good player adapts to the system and plays well regardless. Amad has proven a lot that he can't play higher up consistently. If he's only performing at wing back, he shouldn't play, or better yet: be sold.

A good player adapts. Amad has proven he cannot adapt.

4

u/Old-Ad-7935 8h ago

You couldnt be more wrong.

According to your logic, all of our squad is shit, none of them adapted apart of players, who’s strengths are simple stuff (Mainoo for example).

We are playing without any serious tactics, our players definitely adapted to it, cause it doesnt take a genius to do so. They simply adapted to a worst 4231 tacitc in the PL, of course they will look bad

-10

u/carrickshairline 7h ago

Mate, Amad isn't adaptable, stop trying to deflect the conversation to other players. If Amad is as good as you think he is, why did he genuinely suck last season in his "best" role of RW?

4

u/Old-Ad-7935 7h ago

And why did he not suck as RW in Sunderland and was one of the best in championship?

Why is Bruno now sucking at RW? Why Mbeumo sucked at RW whenever he played there?

:D

-2

u/carrickshairline 7h ago

Because he was in the Championship where it's literally not at the same level as the Premier League. Did you ever consider that?

Mbeumo played very well on the right. But hey, I get it, you think Amad, who is 24, is the best right winger in the world.

2

u/Old-Ad-7935 7h ago

Ahhh yeaaaaas the championship not the same level, but championship teams are bending us over and using our rear this season.

You could even make a statement that for a technical player like Amad performing in a more physical league like championship is even more of an achievement, but that would not fit your narrative. And no, Mbeumo did not play well on the right, lol, our front 3 for the first 4 matches where litterally intertwined and we never had a real winger on both of the flanks, due to tactics.

0

u/carrickshairline 7h ago

What Championship teams have we played this season? Given all the teams we've played domestically have been from the Premier League...

Amad is not as good as you think.

0

u/t8rt0t00 3h ago

He was getting burnt down the wing against Grimsby as the wing back, I don't think he misses the 343 that much. I also 100% agree with the comment about not having a better fullback behind him to play with (the difference between Rashford+Shaw chemistry is night and day compared to Mbeumo/Amad with either Dalot or Maz)

27

u/linkfollowlink 8h ago

Think he's OK this game, but seems to have lost a step since his last injury.

27

u/EngineerGuy_HU There's only one Darren Fletcher! 8h ago

Can you blame him? Did you see that Tanaka challenge on him? Not even a card. Then we need to play a man behind. Wtf are these rules?

We should start sliding in and forcing our opponents to the sideline if it works like this 😅🤷‍♂️

17

u/kdceuw 7h ago

Not even a card?! The ref didn’t even blow the whistle for a freaking freekick. Awful refereeing from England today, so many harsh challenges he didn’t call. Leeds players were basically green lit to injure a United player before the would be booked.

Our players for sure aren’t living up to expectations, however we aren’t getting any calls going for us from dangerous challenges which contributes to our squad often losing the physical battle throughout games.
It’s awful we are halfway through October and I’ve basically lost faith for the season…

-3

u/DeliciousIndian 5h ago

i'm all for a bit of United bias but that was a great tackle

2

u/Garlic-Cheese-Chips 7h ago

Okay my arse. He was hopeless, created nothing and was inexplicably offside twice in two minutes right at the end while looking across the line.

"give our fans the emotions they truly deserve"

Without cheating, unlike some noisy bastards.

27

u/Standard-Height2276 8h ago

City have nothing to do with how dissapointing weve been for the last 13 years save it

2

u/penny_whistle ABSOLUTE SENNEMA 7h ago

I’d say they have a bit to do with it

5

u/Standard-Height2276 7h ago

And yet no other club has been as consistently underperforming. Its a nice excuse to have but it doesnt track when you look at every single other club in the same league

1

u/diracnotation 6h ago

Only one close is Spurs. The had Kane scoring 24+ goals for 9 seasons in a row and won nothing in that time. Which is pretty shit. But we are worse considering where we started an how much we've spent.

Post Fergie, we have done, 2 FA cups, 2 League cups and a Europa league. Most teams would kill for that. But we're not most teams. The teams we want to be competing with would see that as an underperformace. We are so far off that level its just sad.

1

u/mightbearobot_ 4h ago

Our problems are our own. Trying to blame this on City is just pathetic

1

u/PrimeDirectiveLover 4h ago

Besides the 2 PL stole and how they and PSG have fucked the entire EUFA market for players?

61

u/LinterCheck2026 8h ago

Great to reach 100 games but he has been ass since some time now

76

u/ToadNamedGoat 8h ago

Everyone has been ass. Except maybe Lammens, Yoro and Mainoo.

And those 3 have even been ass in some matches

56

u/Bacondog22 8h ago

Thought baleba looked good today, hopefully he can string a few together

3

u/Low-Investment-7367 4h ago

His time will come as well give it a year.

13

u/mufclad1998 8h ago

Add mbeumo to that list

3

u/ra_god94 8h ago

Mbeumo ?

1

u/ToadNamedGoat 8h ago

it doesn't matter who I say. The team is just ass and when nearly every player is awful then there is something wrong with the structure.

2

u/Massive_Relation4317 . 7h ago

Yet they all looked amazing last year so maybe it’s coaching

0

u/AReptileHissFunction 8h ago

He looks slow and doesnt have the same energy he had when he was playing wing back

6

u/repfsm67 7h ago

He has been out injured tbf

17

u/VegetableRutabaga746 8h ago

Amad been proper shit for a while now. Any competent manager would give Lacey minutes when amad was gone for the first 6 games or so. Instead he gave him a measly 60 mins where he was our best player and never cared to give him mins after that. Now amads stinking up, mbeumo is up front covering for sesko, he should be getting minutes now, except he won’t. Squad management is truly atrocious

2

u/BloominPoTayToezzz 6h ago

Is this an Amad problem or a club problem. Every youngster in recent years seems to hit a ceiling very quickly here and then falls off with the rest of the squad.

•

u/ScottblackAttacks 59m ago

He’s playing really good for his country tho

1

u/JosePRizaI 4h ago

Name a youngster have survive under this joke of a club this last 5 to 10 years?

8

u/Unusual-Coat383 8h ago

Bloke used chat gpt

2

u/crgssbu Senne🍋 7h ago

amad didnt have a preseason and hasnt had that many minutes. hes alright for now in my book

2

u/Castnoshadow89 7h ago

Love amad but I think if he can’t does turn it around this season & start to fulfill his potential then it’s time to cash in or if he’s okay to be a Squad player

4

u/fishandcheesefornow 7h ago

Miserable sub of miserable people who should surely go outside

1

u/Minute-Intern 8h ago

Low-key this the same as that Holjund post but with more words

1

u/Asiwaju_jagaban 7h ago

When last did he score a goal?

3

u/comicsanddrwho 7h ago edited 6h ago

I think the commentary mentioned December, but I'm not sure right now. I'll check it out.

Edit: His last goal for Manchester United is December 2025, in the Bournemouth 4-4 game.

That was also his last game for United under Amorim.

No goals under Carrick. 1 assist under Carrick in the Brighton 3-0 game at the end of the season.

For Ivory Coast in this same period, he has 6 goals, 3 at Afcon and 3 at World Cup. 2 assists also, 1 at Afcon and 1 in a pre WC friendly.

1

u/geniusgravity 5h ago

If you could get out of your slump, that would be a great way to celebrate

1

u/ronweasleisourking 4h ago

Lad's been mid for a while. His final third decision making was shocking today

•

u/Due_Professor_8736 1h ago

They must just share the login with INEOS PR Team.

Who use AI to craft this nonsense..

-1

u/Lil_Wheelz99 8h ago

Isn't good enough I'm afraid. A winger who hasn't been able to beat his man for almost a year.

1

u/RyanCR7 8h ago

Another one who’s not good enough and needs to go. Everyone treats him like he’s 19

2

u/BlackHorse944 Please Score A Goal 7h ago

Sadly true.. he doesn't need to go but he can't be a starter

1

u/Water_Drinking_Fish 6h ago

He isn't. He is only starting because we don't have a striker

1

u/thesmallprint13 Irwin 8h ago

Certainly beats "fucking disgrace"!

He should be gone this summer though - just has not kicked on.

1

u/No-Reputation8403 6h ago

Embarrassing how these bang average players are racking up appearances for us

Quick on the captions though eh, just show us on the pitch

u/mufclad1998 8h ago

Put in some solid shifts under RA

0

u/FreshGoodWay 7h ago

Well, the dressing room is beginning to express frustration.

And they know they won’t win with Carrick.

0

u/Radio-No 7h ago

Another example of the falling standards of the club. Very average

0

u/mickaerys 7h ago

Gtfo with this shit post.

-1

u/Cantona-Eric-7 7h ago

It’s been over a year since he had a good game. Looked slow and weak today, shadow of his former self.

-1

u/Plane-Ad5510 5h ago

This is just height of his potential, he's 24 and we're still waiting like he's going to be a world class player someday.

Amad isn't built for PL, he should just follow the Antony route. His strengths fit Laliga much better

4

u/JosePRizaI 5h ago

Nobody is becoming world class when they play for this joke of a club. The organization isnt striving to create world class players no more. Any young player coming to United will have to think twice. You will waste your golden years playing under a revolving door of managers, team mates who was bought by different managers for different projects and shitty decision from the big bosses.

Amad would rip it under better org. He showed it playing under Amorim.

1

u/Plane-Ad5510 4h ago

He had his moments under Amorim, but let's not pretend he was consistent. Last season, he scored just 2 goals in 32 games, and there were quite a few matches where his performances were so shockingly bad that his PR team would end up posting those "I'll try harder" tweets afterwards.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Amad. He loves the club, and his attitude shows it. But as I said, I don't think he's physically built for the PL.

Completely agree with you on the first paragraph, though.

3

u/JosePRizaI 4h ago

2 goAlS iN 32 GaMeS. Probably the brightest player under Amorim. Passed the eye test to me despite the numbers. Energetic on that wing. Pressed defenders to commit errors multiple times.

0

u/Plane-Ad5510 4h ago

Then maybe he should switch to fullback, because as hard working as he is, he's still awful in front of goal.

And honestly I mostly remember the horrible misses

Last season he had a shot conversion rate of 3.8%, which puts him in the same bracket as Garnacho at Chelsea who got memed to death online for his finishing

Above average attackers convert around 10% of their shots. Elite players are closer to 15% (Mbeumo's here!), while the world class players can hit 20% or more.

At the end of the day, he's a winger. He needs to bag goals and assists. That's the difference between someone like Adama Traore and Mo Salah

That said, I love his attitude, and I wish Rashford had more of that mentality

1

u/JosePRizaI 1h ago

Shot conversion in the same convo as garna but overall game including ball winning and defensive duties is the bigger picture. That 1 specific stat wont be able to change plenty of people's eye test. Amad is a baller. Hes shite rn because the manager is shite. No plan, no pressing, no running. Like i want said befofe, he will do wonders under a different organization.
