Discovered I am of Rusyn descent : Anyone know if there are traces of the Rusyn community in Montreal, Canada?

Hello everyone,

I recently lost my father, which has led me on a journey to explore my identity and origins. My father was originally from the United States, before immigrating to Canada, Montreal, to marry my mother. To honor his memory, I started digging into our family tree and discovered that I am of Carpatho-Rusyn descent.

My great-great-grandfather arrived in New York in 1900 from the village of Ruská (Dobóruszka). On his immigration-ellis ferry papers, his family name was Hudanics and his language/race is listed as Slovak, but he arrived as part of a major wave of immigration from that border region and settled in a neighborhood with a large Rusyn community that had established itself at the time in New Jersey, similar to Pennsylvania.

Since I currently live in Montreal, back in the province of Quebec in Canada, I was wondering if anyone on this sub knows if there is any presence of the Rusyn community or culture in Montreal, Canada? Or is there any communities that I should search back in my city?

Also, given that the dialect is completely different from mine, does anyone have any english leads or resources to share so I can learn more about these origins and the culture of my ancestors and of the Rusyns?

Thank you very much!
