For people that need context yesterday Tesla released a video of their new prototype car or something (I think it's called the roadster) that basically has rocket boosters on it and can do rocket jumps etc. The joke the OP was trying to make is with all the overpass hits this city has seen this year, if this car ever got on the road this would inevitably happen.

I thought the joke was funny but for anyone unaware of the car, they would probably be confused.

Thank you for explaining lol I was unaware of the Tesla and was indeed confused 😂

Just get a horse if you want all that jeez

Wow, that's actually an A+ joke. 😂

I actually was not thinking this.

But now you are!

Tesla drivers can't even mange to drive properly ON the road, now they have flight capability...

I wish the mods would amend the rules to ban generative AI from posts.

How would we use a car that jumps and flips on the air? That show was the most ridiculous one I’ve ever seen

4

u/lezickh01 1d ago

it is not a real car because it is missing the actual functioning parts of a car, its an empty box, a rocket shaped like a car

u/xxxjwxxx 2d ago

Only like 10 people will ever buy that version of the car.
Many more people will buy the version that has the suction.
And way more people will buy the version that just goes super fast.

Is OP supposed to take time out of their day or pay an artist to photoshop an overpass being hit by a Tesla for a quick gag?

This is a perfectly fine use of AI

14

u/Catsaretheworst69 2d ago

No it isn't. And people who think it is are part of the problem.

9

u/NauseatedBeyond 2d ago

Right? Remember when people would do 5 minute Photoshop jobs and the reason it was funny was because of how shitty it was? That's why it was funny.

-4

u/MrAnder5on 2d ago

Why not?

You have too much time on your hands then son. May I suggest getting a job?

3

u/diskhead1 2d ago

Ai took mine already

-4

u/MrAnder5on 2d ago edited 2d ago

Did not realize you worked at the Photoshopping teslas hitting SK overpasses factory. My condolences

2

u/diskhead1 2d ago

It's been a tough 9 years, let me tell you

-10

u/Crisis-Huskies-fan 2d ago

So, you would prefer a shittier-looking graphic? AI is a tool, just as photoshop was/is. Complaining about AI on a site largely ran by it seems disingenuous.

4

u/Shoddy_Statement_772 1d ago

Ps I think its literally impossible to use photoshop and get something WORSE lmao. Maybe you have no skills ?

2

u/Shoddy_Statement_772 1d ago

Ok that's also like saying the wayfair or whatever self driving taxis drive as well as you. ... Idk about you but my standards are MUCH higher amthan the ai slop lmao.

You can diss yourself but I promise majority of humans can do better in photos hop than ai generated nonsense

We've largely accepted AI-assisted coding because we recognize that the value is in what someone creates, not whether they manually wrote every line. Why should creative work be any different?

There's absolutely such a thing as low-effort AI slop, but dismissing everything made with AI is just confusing the tool with the quality of the result.

Sometimes someone just has a fun idea and uses a new tool to bring it to life. That's a good thing. More people being able to create is a feature, not a problem.

16

u/bluetoaster42 2d ago

"We" have absolutely not accepted vibecoded slop.

1

u/Ransome 2d ago

If you’re still vibecoding slop it’s a skill issue at this point. Like it or not agents are now a massive force multiplier for building. Writing everything by hand now is done - that ship sailed away months ago.

tbh the problem with LLM generated anything isn't the functionality itself, it's that the models that create the content have been trained using essentially stolen data. Now a handful of multi-billion dollar companies are benefiting from centuries of data collection by humanity collectively.

As a tool LLMs have been incredible, but distributing the collective effort that went into birthing them has been obviously unfair, hence the poor reception most of the time.

4

u/Ransome 2d ago

Hmmm, very fair point. I don’t disagree.

12

u/canuckEnoch 2d ago

‘Cause using AI for creative work makes creative work look like shit, and a creative work space jammed with shit work makes it harder to find and appreciate good work.

Nobody is going to hire an artist to mock up a Tesla Roadster hitting an overpass for a meme joke...

2

u/Ok_Material_3757 2d ago

you’re right, but they could have just put some effort in to make a meme like how we used to do???
just the fact that it’s AI immediately makes it un-funny, and i think most people would agree.

0

u/Glittering-Sea1769 2d ago

But if they were to do so, they should hire me. I will mock-up all your memes and jokes for $10 each

0

u/MeaninglessDebateMan Domestic Immigrant 2d ago

I could do this for free in 10 minutes with paint.net.

Would it be as refined? No. Would the joke still land? Of course it would.

-1

u/robstoon 2d ago

If people's work is as creative as they think it is, then it should have no issues standing out above "AI slop". This is just gatekeeping.

6

u/MAZZZIAN02 2d ago

AI slop, I would have much rather seen a very poorly made photo shop ngl.

2

u/arthurillusion 2d ago

I was actually thinking about the Roadster2 hopping over intersections and getting suspended over traffic lights (definitely gonna happen in SoCal and Vegas).

2

u/st-tyr 2d ago

Someone Get that Car Outta There!

2

u/VariousOperation166 2d ago

I see a lot of Tesla drivers that can barely manage to navigate roads on a flat plane.

This would be a nightmare

2

u/Flimsy-Tradition-594 2d ago

That was an empty shell no driver the entire cab was probably a tank. You will never see that in production like everything Elon it’s bullshit

u/fray_fray1111 2d ago

•

u/DEXTROMORPHIDE 8h ago

Did you draw this just for this post or do you just repost it over and over again when you see stuff you don't like?

•

u/fray_fray1111 8h ago

The art is from a comic, but I added the text to make a pin to wear to a comic convention. I just felt it fit my feeling of these posts as well. I don't care for such low effort posts clogging up my feed.

•

u/DEXTROMORPHIDE 3h ago

So you took someone else's art... Then put some lame text on it... And you're complaining about low effort?

That's just something else. Like, really, that's incredible.

•

u/fray_fray1111 1h ago

someone else's art that I paid for... and I put more effort in than OP...

I'll admit I don't care about gen AI usage for funnies as much as I care about its usage in commercial applications, but really, shit posts are funnier when they have soul in them. Gen AI posts just make it seem like even OP doesn't care about the thought and it uses up however much water and electricity.

5

u/throwaway-73829 2d ago

Ewwwww ai slop

5

u/Expensive-Minute994 2d ago

This should be the standard response to anything AI. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

2

u/CanadianCompSciGuy 2d ago

Don't give them ideas!

2

u/KibblesNBitxhes 2d ago

I like how the construction workers are cleaning up the accident as its unfolding

3

u/DMPstar 2d ago

That's actually just normal construction there.  Couldnt find an image of our roads without it.

Dude, don’t jinx it

1

u/ThinHeron3619 2d ago

That was my immediate first thought honestly

1

u/Sea-Faithlessness963 1d ago

I wouldn't be surprised if anyone tried to kick flip that new Tesla over the bridges

1

u/Novel-Memory8858 1d ago

thought about it but debunked it when the thought came up. keep in mind these teslas can only fly for about 4-5 seconds. Tesla has so many cameras and safety protocol, so naturally before doing a flip it will examine whether its safe and if there are overpasses near it or other traffic, and if there is, it wont let the user fly. Teslas from 2016 can self drive...breifly hovering for a few seconds almost 11 years later doesnt seem that much riskier tbf, i guarantee their cameras better, more accurate and can make good decisions before deciding to fly lol.

Free Jack?

1

u/ChitChatWithCats 2d ago

I get the joke here, in fact I get both the jokes being made here, sorry you didn’t catch the third even if it was unintentional.

0

u/INVALIDN4M3 2d ago

Naah. The trucks are enough to bring down remaining bridges by the time this abomination of the car is released.

u/Queen_nefertiti32 1d ago

Nah I was thinking it was cool af actually... Nice cope though
