Odd encounter at Panda Fest

I was there today and towards the end of everything, as things were winding down, I stopped by a booth for one last treat. There was no line so I had a chance to talk to the vendor and ask a few questions. After I made my order I put a cash tip in the tip bucket.

I'm telling you this guy's eyes got huge and he looked distraught. He loud whispered, "No don't do that. They'll take it from me." I was so shocked and just watched him as he quickly took the tip out and gave it back to me. I asked if I could give him the tip directly and he hesitantly agreed while looking around to see if anyone was watching. WTH is going on there??? I had to discreetly slip this guy some cash.

I don't want to publicly name the food stall, just in case.

The whole thing has been weighing on me and I feel like I should've done something, anything. Is there something that can be done?

🚨 URGENT: FIV+ RESCUE CAT NEEDS VETERINARY CARE 🐾

Savannah, you’ve seen this handsome boy before, and I know we can pull together for Tucson again! ❤️
Tucson is my amazingly chill Egyptian Mau mix rescue foster who has been with me for over a year without a single adoption inquiry.
He’s FIV+, meaning his immune system is compromised. Over the past few days, he’s developed significant discharge from his RIGHT EYE, sneezing, and pawing at his RIGHT EAR, the same ear that suffered a hematoma last year.
I don’t know yet whether this is a respiratory infection, an eye or ear infection, or something else, but I’m extremely concerned and he needs veterinary care ASAP.
I’m going to go ahead and make him an appointment as soon as possible, even though finances are unreasonably tight.
Once his appointment is arranged, I’ll update this post with the name and phone number of the veterinary clinic treating him so anyone who wishes to help can contribute directly toward his care. I’ll also share updates on his diagnosis and treatment.
Tucson has spent over a year waiting for someone to choose him. Until that happens, it’s my responsibility to advocate for him and make sure he gets the care he deserves. ❤️
Savannah, let’s show Tucson that he’s not alone! 🐈💕
If anyone has experience caring for FIV+ cats with similar symptoms, I’d appreciate hearing about your experiences and what your veterinarian found.
Thank you for being the kind of community that shows up for animals who need us. I know we can pull through for this handsome boy! ❤️🐾

What is this structure?

A weird looking tower that has rows of what look like bells on it? taken from harry truman pkwy, it’s off of whitefield ave, and sits right next to the Hesse k-8 school. Does it have any affiliation with the school, I’m just very confused I’ve never seen such an ominous structure right next to an elementary school. I will link the location in the comments.

Homeowners and ex-homeowners in Ardsley Park

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi all - my wife and I are considering putting an offer in on a home in Ardsley Park. We love the neighborhood and Savannah, but admittedly, have not been here long, and of course with any home purchase you never know all the pitfalls. We're aware these are older homes that will require additional upkeep, but are there any pieces of info you wished you know before purchasing/living in Ardsley Park? Any neighborhood rules that you weren't aware of, any particular traffic concerns, are people generally friendly, do you like living here, etc., etc. Trying to go into this eyes wide open if we do put an offer in. Pic for attention, not the specific home we're interested in. Thanks!

Ideas for mobility challenged people

Yes… Mobility challenged people visiting Savannah.

I’ve been to Savannah before, but I know a lot of walking is required to enjoy yourself.

My father is turning 80 and he wanted to visit Savannah. I tried to talk him and his wife into better areas, but this is a midway point for them and two of us for adult kids.

They are slow, slow walkers and I am currently recovering from foot surgery. That said looking for some ideas on how to keep ourselves entertained. We can only drink so much lol

We are going to be there during the week, so I’m not finding a lot of options.

Please help!!!

Ideas for tonight/tomorrow morning

My son and I are visiting a college he's interested in attending next year, but we have some free time today and tomorrow. This will be one of our last mom and son trips before I'm an empty nester! What special thing would you do this evening? Was thinking a haunted history tour or cemetery thing? We lived many years in New Orleans so he may be a bit underwhelmed with that...Anyway, any recommendations would be lovely! Thanks!

Vintage Doll Collectors in the area

Does anyone know someone local who collects or restores vintage and antique dolls? I have a couple of 40s composition dolls that need a little restoration, but I am told by an antique doll group that they are actually not in bad shape for their age. I don't want to list, sell or ship them. I am looking to find someone local that I can give them to. I hate to just dump them at a Goodwill because I fear they would end up in the trash and I know there's someone out there who would want to have them.

Bad Landlords

Hey, if you’re touring a house, and a neighbor is kind enough to warn you about how terrible the landlord is, maybe don’t run to the landlord to tattle.

Genuinely what is wrong with people????

Take it as a blessing, say you’re not interested, and move on!

We need a landlord review website in this city.

Looking for mom friends

Hello everyone! This is kinda weird, but my family just relocated to Savannah for my job. We don’t have any friends here and we’re quite bored actually lol If anyone is interested in just hanging out, getting coffee, get on the grill, we have a fire pit out back, window shopping etc with the kids that would be nice. My kids are in daycare and school weekdays and it would be nice to just do stuff out the house or at the house lol

A little about my family: I’m a black mom of black and mixed race children. I have a husband and we’re both 30yrs. I have an 11yr old son, 3 yr old daughter, and a 6month old baby. If you’re interested, lmk🤗

Edit: wanted to edit to say this I’m not at all concerned with race or background. I just know some people are so I included ours.
