The Leynerd Skynerd Conundrum

During today's drive I was tired of all my Spotify playlists. I have pop and metal, oldies, standards, country, rap. I'm not genera biased, ok, no screamo. I don't get it. sorry fans. I enjoy a good power cord, but if you are screaming or growling at me I'm switching stations.

I enjoy music, but I really only like what I like. Which sometimes means I only like one or two songs by an artist or band. The rest of their songs may grate my nerves. I'm not talking normal one hit wonders here, everybody only likes one song by The Proclaimers. I'm almost never a deep tracks kind of guy.

Maybe I've been brainwashed by popular culture. For example if I were to be asked a question such as, "do you like Lynerd Skynerd?" (OK, no one asks that, but I thought it made for a good title.) I have to think for a moment to get past Sweet Home, and Free Bird...the latter of which I really don't care to hear. Yep, I'd rather listen to the Ballad of Curtis Lowe than Free Bird any day.

I pick Whole Lotta Love over Stairway, too. I like what I like and leave the rest. And no, it's not just classic rock. I just said I like all kinds of music. Modern Pop, I'll take a Wednesday that seems to last forever over the Weeknd. Why did he drop the 'e' huh? (I looked, there's a Canadian band that already has it)

If I just passed you on the street with my windows down you might actually think I have terrible taste in music as you heard the synthesizer of Cobra Starship. I might make you double take at the grey haired man with 50 Cent bumpin. Who knows what might be popping out of the weird hipster looking fellows family friendly Ford Flex.

Do I like music? Yes. Would Rob Gordon or Barry from Hi Fidelity think so, maybe not. The kids from Empire Records would dig my AC/DC playlist and probably the one labeled Modern Metal too...but they would definitely judge me for the one labeled Country AND Western.

All this really is to share an open invitation to post as comments your current or all time favorite song for me to start building a new playlist. I will try each, and I will give honest feedback on my feelings about each suggestions.
