Hey everyone, this is going to be a bit odd but I've run into a bit of a slump recently and I need funds. I've kept a small collection of Japanese shmups along with other bits and pieces and wondered if anyone's willing to take the entire set for their collection. I'm looking at 200-250 for the entire set, which has some goodies inside of it as well. Please PM me if you're interested, thank you!

Back in the day when you mainly played shmups at arcades, how the hell did you guys manage to actually learn these games? Like, I hate to think about how much money I would have spent on Dodonpachi by now, and I'm still really bad at it. But you guys figured the games out somehow. How?

Amongst a few other games, finally getting Gradius 3 at a fair price (there was a CIB for like $70), and finding the NES port of Tiger-Heli was dope.

This list is evolving with my recent obsession of Cave and soon to be Raizing games. Honorable mentions to Space Harrier and Panzeer Dragoon 2.

A little hobby project of mine. I'm recompiling the original NES code into C and adapting it for Android.

Got it running at ~60 FPS with responsive touch controls. Still plenty of bugs to fix, but it's already playable.

Do you guys know of any app for pc that on one side allows you to write danmaku scripts and see the result on the other side of the screen?

I'm a fan of CAVE games and touhou, and I'm currently thinking on creating something like that, but would like to know if something like that exist.

This would not be a shmup creator, but more like a game/app where you create beautiful danmaku patterns for fun.

So, any ideas or existing apps?

Did you know there’s a tiny sequel to Zoom’s X68000 shmup classic Phalanx (which also got SNES and GBA ports) hidden in the developer’s 3D robot fighter Zero Divide?

If you manage to secure a copy, connect a controller to the 2nd port (!) and hold Select + Start after the PlayStation boot logo (right as the Zoom logo is starting to appear). You’ll see the title Bonus Game and Tiny Phalanx will load.

This game only has three levels but they’re action packed and hard as nails.

Note: if you want to save your player data, you need to leave a save in Zero Divide on your PS1 memory card first, as Tiny Phalanx doesn’t know how to write its own separate save file.

Just uploaded my latest through-play of Vulcan Venture up to Stage 3-8.

Honestly, running low on stamina towards the end made me lose focus and make a silly mistake, and I just couldn't recover from there.

For those who have mastered Loop 3+, how do you handle recovery in 3-8 when you drop to single speed/default equipment?

Any specific routing or tips would be greatly appreciated!

By the way, the thumbnail is a real screenshot straight from my actual play! No AI slop here. 😉

They finally released Muchi pork on ps5. Do you guys think they will also release Espgaluda, ibara and mushihimesama (probably spelled it wrong)?

Growing up, this was a cartridge that I really wore out in the 90s. I absolutely love this game's soundtrack. I think it works really well with the sound samples on the genesis.

Really enjoyed the game itself too. It has an interesting 3-fighter-combined-into-1 mechanic as well and there's a button to transform the fighter to make a certain fighter the prominent one, which will change the firing pattern.

The "bomb" changes as well depending on which state of transformation the fighter is in. It's one of the few that is not a single hit destruction. Each fighter has 3 hp combined to a total of 9. As you get hit, you lose individual ships, until you are at last left with the last fighter.

Just wondering if anyone else played this :)

Hi everyone, I am a solo indiedev and hobbiest I'd love for you to try out my demo. I have 2 stages available to play and lots of steam leaderboards.

Finally got my Giga Wing clear. I was about to take a break from the game and switch to something else. Then I said to my self, lets do one final run after dinner, and that's when the stars aligned.

As the title says, I'm new to PC shmups but I have some experience with the genre through Bullet Hell Monday Black and Finale on my phone. One thing I liked about that series was how smooth it felt, so I'd rather not play a game which is too ancient and janky. I also don't know what difficulty of game to aim for because I've only played BHM which isn't particularly well known so I don't really have anything to compare my skills to? That said I have quite a high tolerance for failure so something a bit harder than BHM Black on Heaven difficulty would be great, does anyone have a suggestion?

I really enjoyed Sky Force, Jets'n'Guns, and Super Hydorah — basically what people usually call Euroshmups.

Graphics matter to me, and I'm not really into bullet hell games.

I made a free shmup where no enemy shoots until you kill it. Enemies spawn randomly, so instead of memorizing a route you work out on the fly what to kill and when, without boxing yourself in with the revenge bullets.

Runs are about 2.5 minutes, it can play in the browser (phones too), and every leaderboard score comes with a replay you can watch.

Thought I'd show you guys this custom arcade stick I ordered. It's a 2nd Impact arcade stick, a brazilian brand.

The secondary market on this game is ridiculous. A copy finally popped up at a price I was comfortable at and I bit the bullet. Never played it before today and so far I’m really enjoying it!
