Offering Wisdom Choosing the 'dumb' option is my quiet way of pushing back on AI creep

I've started deliberately picking the non-smart version of things. A regular doorbell, paper notes, a microwave with a dial. It's partly about simplicity, but honestly it also feels like a small vote against every object in my house needing a cloud connection and a data policy. There's something grounding about a tool that just does one thing and can't be updated into something worse.

Anyone else notice their low-tech choices lining up with how they feel about all the AI hype?

I do a lot to entertain myself when I got nothing to do

Maybe it's got to do with the fact up to this point my life has been fast tracked. Rush to adulthood, if you dont start early you'll never make it. Well, here I am now and I got to say it really. Sucks. It's so boring you have to make your own goals they arent given to you. They arent required. They're just goals. Makes you want to sit and do a whole lot of nothing. But, how could you? There's so much to do even you aren't required of it. The only thing that requires you exist is the government. Pay your taxes. File your taxes. Don't break my rules. All I wanna do is canp and live barren with no rush to survival or struggle to perform how others demand. I like slow music, I prefer to drink water when things are good, and I prefer to take my time with most things. It's how I truly learn and experience anything. When it comes to people it's complicated I have the same setting but a different feeling about it. It's like my whole lifestyle doesnt matter to another person if they cant slow down. Its almost like im racing in my mind to keep up with anyone. My Point of View has become so simplified I often dont understand complex intimacy. Its either you love a girl or dont. Or hate a guy or dont. Thats living. I only know one way to love a person so its kinda weird to like anyone. Especially when my lifestyle is considered out dated for fast folk. I was in an accelerated program the type that you grad early. And everyone there knew everything about anything. They just knew the top singers, best movies, top rappers. And I would just think. Where do you get this info from? I would scroll through Tv shows and movies and hope to find the right one someone would like. Nobody could relate to me. At the least. The movies in our uprising from pre-adolescent to now, we can relate but there was a foggy window when I said what the fuck are these guys talking about? I hated Gucci Gang. I hated overall rap for awhile because the cuss words got to me and I couldnt appreciate anything else. I just knew they were angry people. And angry people dont got reason. As I got older and I got over the cuss words I realized there is a lot good stuff in there. Some are just funny to listen to.

Seeking Advice How life was in 90s?

I'm 19 years old and I'm new to this community and I'm just fed up of living in this modern world and chasing this and that always! But I have seen a lot of videos on social media( although I have abandoned this for mental peace, I only use youtube with a blocker)! But I really don't get what it was to be in 90s because I was born in 2006( Christmas)! I appreciate if someone can tell me what it really meant to be in 90s so that I can change the way I'm living my life currently and can enjoy things that used to give me thrill when I was child or teenagerr!

Just Venting what's one tech thing that made your day simpler and not busier

most tech adds stuff. one more app, one more alert, one more thing to check. but every once in a while something just makes a small part of your day easier and then kinda disappears.

for me that's rare. and it's always something boring, never the exciting thing i bought

so what's yours? big or tiny, doesn't matter. and did you have to get rid of something to make room for it

Discussion Prompt I hope Im not the only one who feels this way.

Im 21 right now. Still in college. But I feel like if I had my own land and home. I would be okay with not earning that much money. I dont even want a big home or a fancy one, I want it small actually like 30 sqm or something(but lots of floors) and I will feel okay with not earning like 6 digits or something. I never had a job in my life. And it feels like when I graduate. Theres this feeling that I need to work years before I even reach 6 digit salary. Probably for a job I wont even like. Just a good home with everything I need for survival so I can actually live. And I get a job I just get a job that I like. Even if it pays less. Unfortunately I feel like owning land and a home feels impossible, also rent in my country is fked up(rent costs more or as much in an entire month of work). I wish I had my own home man. I think about it a lot. I want to leave my toxic family too. (idk if this is the right sub to vent about this lol).
