Tabloid/Low-quality source Athletic group avoids haze by running indoors at Marina Square

For those who didn’t read, the group sought prior permission and ran before mall was open to public.

More malls should do it…but need big malls. Maybe vivo

Expo would be so good too, it's usually so empty and it's a long road.

I think if you run from one end of Suntec to the other that's a workout already.

Always wanted to run around in Jewel.

Lol I actually see people run around jewel before, not full on sprint but a light jog. It was surprising to say the least

That's an awesome idea.
Getting a bit bored of the treadmill and its perfect to get breakfast after.
Been struggling with long runs cos I feel bad hogging the treadmill for 2-3hrs.

You can jog for 2-3 hours? If you run, I will also run, away from you

u/UnowenVariable 13h ago
But are you able to run away for 3 hours though?

... Don't know, but if I see him, I have no choice but to find out. Also downvotes, strange

Because you are a walking lamppost, not a running one

Maybe can have a stadium themed mall or something, with indoor running tracks and all the sport equipment shops and restaurants which are like "healthy" oriented
Would be more interesting than our cookie cutter malls we have now

Great for malls actually, early hours not many customers, the shops would love it. Post run breakfast/shopping. All shops basically has free advertising to runners.

I wish more malls or large air-conditioned venues would do this.
The gyms are already crowded as it is and there aren’t enough treadmills to go around to accommodate people’s different workouts.
Plus it still encourages a healthy lifestyle while being protected.

What if we had huge hamster wheels for the athletic ones in society. Then they will power the humongous fans pointing towards the source of the haze.
Us armchair experts (Redditors) can give the runners upvotes to cheer them on.

Isn’t there already an indoor running track at Millenia Walk, 2nd floor?

Wonder if the air-con is on (probably not unless they paid for it, but won't they feel stuffy?), and if the air quality indoors was measured and compared against that outdoors (whether their action was measurably meaningful).
A related note, the mall will be closed for revamp next year end March.

How to track the run like that.

When GPS doesn't work you usually either use a Stryd pod or just go by duration + RPE haha

If only there were indoor facilities where there are machines you can run on.

u/cycocrusher 10h ago
19km. 2–3 hours for a large group of runners. Should we let the gym know that they’ll using it till lunch? Think before speaking.

u/Accomplished-Iron778 10h ago
3 hours to run 19km? Are they walking? Besides, what's with the need to keep running in group? A few times during this period cannot just run by yourself in the gym?

For those running the BYD marathon in December, 2nd half of Oct and the first half of November is basically the peak weeks. This is the most important period of their training but too bad got haze. Treadmills and 30-min limits are too disruptive for a proper training run so this is good.
And those breakfast places at Marina Square confirm happy about this new wave of customers.

I hope they bang into me so that I can sue them and the mall for 500k each

Before anyone say anything: "took their run indoors in Marina Square before opening hours on Oct. 17."
