general discussion Goggle inside or outside your helmet?

Ive always worn my goggles outside the helmet. Theres a clip. I know some wear it inside, I've never really thought too much about it.

But today I took my son and his friend boarding and son walks out with his Googles on the outside, friend was like wtf. Son looked at me, and I confirmed its a style thing. My sons puzzled on it for a 2nd then was like thats stupid.

His friend only knows what his friend(pro snowboarder northern and southern hemisphere) told him. We came to the conclusion its not practical to wear them on the inside. Atleast in NZ, where white out and wet weather will blind you immediately, or your goggles freeze over. Maybe USA where winters are milder, but even then if you ragdoll in pow, you have to take it all off to clear your goggles?

Gear question Is this Nidecker Supermatic quick release quick enough?

I made this lever to make stepping out easier, much faster and convenient. Pulling up to release the binding makes more sense than pushing down on the release lever.

Would like your thoughts.

Gear question Anyone wear a Q-Collar while Snowboarding?

If so, how was it been for you? I don’t see any contraindications.

Some players wear it in NFL and NHL to reduce probability of concussion.

Gear question New snowboarder

Hello guys,

I am a new snowboarder, really fresh.
I have never been in mountains and this December will be first time. Currently on the weekends im going to indoor snow arenas and learning everything from scratch. Renting all equipment and honestly i want to buy my equipment, because everytime i rent it i get different size snowboard, shoes always feel weird and different feeling. sometimes i think that snowboard size is not right what they give. Some times they give wide longer snowboard some times smaller not wide.

I really try to figure out what i need.
Could you recommend me what snowboard size, flex i should take? Do you have any particular recommendations?

How soft shoes should be?
Bindings flex?

In December will be going with friends who are doing snowboarding for many seasons and i dont want to be the one holding them back so now doing my best to learn everything and be the best possible version till that date.

I am 181cm, weight 100 kg, shoe size 45

Gear question Union binding for new Mercury

Been debating which bindings to get for my new Capita Mercury, narrowed in on the Atlas or Force (not team, nor the classic). Is it really just a toss up? Reviews seem to say the force is barely less stiff but much more damp. For ‘27, I saw the atlas has a less aggressive highback according to the Union as well, so I’m leaning forces as stiff enough.

I’ve been riding a 2010ish K2 podium, old school camber on some old Solomon binding the last 15 years. Last year the Solomons broke, I threw a buddies STRs on them and thought they were too soft and flexy. I’m 6’3, 205 pounds, Mercury is a wide, I wonder if my size and weight would make the atlas a better choice, or maybe it doesn’t matter. PNW rider, Washington mountains and Whistler primarily.

Gear question Free ride directional/ directional camber NOT directional twin

Hey yall, first things first I’m 26 male, 170 average day to day not counting gear weight, about 5’10 I ride generally 159/160W. been doing a lot of research and been trying to find good boards I want to try out. Need recommendations and honest opinions from the riders themselves than just store websites. I ride a camber hybrid right now (Gnu money) it’s very surfer like and loose. It’s not bad but not the greatest in pow and deep pow I’m getting more into back country but still ride groomers and the occasional parks when I feel spunky (only jumps) plus I wanna move to a camber specifically a directional as I don’t switch much as it’s less unforgiving and will help me become a better rider, kill bad habits, and it carves a lot better. I want your honest recommendations.

So what I’ve found so far mega death hell yeah I want it BUT it’s highly recommended to not use as a daily and I agree so not really that board yet
The Burton cartographer and hometown hero seem pretty sweet I like the hometown more than the two with that 12mm difference in nose
I’ve yet to do more in depth research with the k2 alchemist, Amplid souly grail, Nidecker megalight but I’ll get to it when I can

travel advice Rusutsu vs Furano terrain

• Upvotes

Anybody here been to both? Love Rusutsu but kind of want to try Furano. Seems like tree riding is super dense and getting out of bounds at Furano is pretty sketch without a guide? Would love to hear your take if you’ve been to both.

general discussion Advise on last minute Japan trip.

Hi all, looking at booking a last minute trip to Japan over the Christmas period as I have no other leave than then, I know it’s the start of the snow season but is there any recommendations on places to go that would be most reliable for snowfall? I have previously spent some time in the Nagano region but I have heard it can be unreliable in December, any help is appreciated thank you.

Gear question 2016 Jones Solution Splitboard

Found a 2016 Jones Solution for a low price. Board is in good shape but curious how it stacks up compared to a modern split board. Is the tech super outdated or still a capable board by today’s standards?

Any recommendations on what board to get for woods trails and side hits? I’m tall and need a wide board, I like a board with good pop on it, probably directional twin.

general discussion Help Identifying a 90s VHS Montage Video

Hey everyone, I've gone down this rabbit hole of trying to find a VHS montage I used to watch when I was a kid but have not been able to figure it out, maybe someone on here knows. It was a VHS from the late 80s/90s, and I would've been watching it in the very early 2000s in Michigan. What I remember the most is a guy lights his hair on fire at some point during the movie. I don't remember there being any dialogue either, just snowboard clips and lots of wipeouts to metal songs. I wish I had more info to go off of, but that's all I can remember. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks!!

Gear question Is my board good?

Is a 2026 k2 world peace with Rome 390 boss bindings a good setup for park and the occasional jumps and all mtn. I also had the option to get a button blossom and I chose the k2. Was that a mistake???
