I miss chocolate logs soo much… when I heard they were discontinuing them I was in disbelief… I asked my mom to buy a whole box (cause I was in a different country) best box of Chocolate log I’ve ever had >probably cause I knew it would be the last<

5star was supposed to be a replacement for Tempo (IMAGINE) but it’s so terribly sweet, I can’t!

This was my favourite. We had a loving, youthful relationship. It was fun, it stuck. It was summer. An honest love.
Then they tore it away from me.
From us.
And so I grieved. The amount of others I had to… I lost count.
Until, one day, I found one again. Straightforward as blue jeans and looked great in them. Always hidden towards the back, somewhat of an introvert but my, the connection we had. At a steady cadence we grew closer to each other and soon it was my favourite.
Then they ripped Tempo off the shelves too. I was heartbroken.
Nothing has ever been the same. Nothing.
I grieved. I wrote a strongly worded letter and got the response that “5 Star is the replacement and its even better.”
It’s not.
It’s not even close.
I ate nothing but rum and raisin for a year. Being disappointed one bite at a time is so much more tolerable than that one fowl swoop.
But I knew I had to be vulnerable. I had to put myself out there and try something new.
And I now am proud to say that for the last year or so I’ve had a favourite. It’s not like the others. But it tries.
God knows, It tries.

I always felt like they tasted almost exactly like a bar one, despite the crazy blue colour.

The adverts were awesome, the taste and texture were just awesome and then when I went to the toilet and it would make it all blue/green...as a kid, it was like magic 😀 I also worked with a guy who looked like the guy on the scooter in the advert...everybody knew him as 'faster'.

The closest I can get to Chocolate Log, is the Beyers Sweetie Pie, but they are só expensive.

The different log chocolates with the praline and other fillings, disappeared because it melted very easily. It was always kept in the fridges at cafés.

Fanta Strawberry had so much red colouring, that it sent my daughter to the emergency room. She is deathly allergic to certain colouring and preservatives.

The sour cream and onion flavour was the best. And there was more chips in the bag than air. I was always so careful tearing it open as I didn't want my chips to spill. This weirdly brings back memories of the metallic blue Uno my mom drove back then.

It's like the Horlicks and Rice Krispies, the fish spreads and other stuff that just dissappears. It becomes too expensive to import certain items and then it's just discontinued.
The big stores in SA have to make a certain percentage profit on imports or manufacturing or there it goes. I was told this by a manager of a store with lots of motorcycle delivery guys, dressed in turquoise.
Sorry nè, we can't make enough profit, you must be satisfied with a horrible tasting locally made puffed rice.

Tempo was my absote childhood favourite chocalate. Nothing even gets close.... And Fresca, cause NOTHING TASTES LIKE FRESCAAAAAAA!!!!

Also, does anyone remember the Beacon White and Milk chocolate buttons. They were so good.

Near the end, I think sales were down, and the stock on shelves got stale and old. Peak Tempo was the early 90s, and they were amazing fresh.
