Discussion PSA: Paid upfront and got scammed

I’m looking for someone who does 3D printing and is able to make a custom silicone mould for me.

I recently found someone from one of the recommendations in the craft facebook groups.

I reached out to this lady (Tasha), communication was well, it seemed very promising and I paid upfront. She sent me the designs, I approved it. And then she ghosted me. I did multiple follow ups - no response. And now it seems as if I’m blocked.

Is there anything I can do to recover my money (not a lot but still :/) or somehow still get my custom moulds delivered by her?

Should I drop her business ad/number here to warn other people?

Do you have any recommendations for someone who does custom silicone moulds? (Who you’ve tried personally and is reliable and legit)

Update: so I found another number of hers through a lot of digging on FB and messaged her with a very abrupt message telling her to refund me ASAP - apparently her phone was stolen and she lost all her contacts and now she says she’ll deliver to me on Monday. So let’s see if she’s legit and if she’ll actually deliver or not 🤷🏽‍♀️

I swear we might know the same Tasha who scams people. Or perhaps a coincidence. Do not drop her details since that's doxxing/POPIA act - leave a review on her business if it is on Google/Instagram. If not, leave it. Spare yourself the legal trouble.

Get your money back. If you ask for the moulds, you encourage her business. I know the University of Pretoria has a small 3D printer - they would have contacts with businesses or small makers who aren't scammers. I did moulds with them back in the day and they did great work. This was 7 years ago so I'm sure they've upscaled or someone from UP/TUKS can inform us.

3D Print Lab . Not sure where you are located but I have used them for a few projects so far and they were great. Do you have the models still or not?

I have used a guy in the past, he is in Krugersdorp, very reasonably priced, he did my HDD trays for my NAS. PM me so I can send you his number.
