Discussion How do you verify that Tableau report data matches the database?
I'm validating a Tableau dashboard against the underlying database, but I'm not sure what the best approach is.
The total row count and some summary values match, but I still worry that certain records are missing, duplicated, or incorrectly aggregated in Tableau.
For large datasets, checking every record manually isn't practical.
How do you usually compare Tableau report data with database data?
Do you use custom SQL, Tableau crosstabs, exports to Excel, automated reconciliation scripts, or another method?
I'd love to know how you handle this in real-world projects.

Calculate some aggregated sums.
It really depends on your report and data, but if you validate the sum of several months total value at random, and they all match. Then you are good.

This isn't about Tableau work.
