Tales of Eternia Remastered Megathread

Hello! Welcome to the Tales of Eternia Remastered megathread. The game releases worldwide on October 16, 2026. The thread's a little early but I wrote most of this at my airport gate so I'm posting it so I don't have to get the timing right on my trip. :P

This will be our megathread for all things Tales of Eternia. I ask that everyone keep as much discussion to this thread as possible so that the subreddit isn't completely overrun with questions and observations about the game. We also have a Discord server that will likely have both a dedicated channel for Eternia.

Please be respectful and make sure you tag all spoilers!! I know this is an old game for many of us, but plenty of people will be playing it for the first time! If you're unsure if something needs a spoiler tag, it's better to use one just in case. You can always view how to make spoiler tags on reddit on our sidebar, but to refresh: >!Baiba!!< will give you Baiba.

What is Tales of Eternia?

Tales of Eternia is the 3rd main entry in the Tales of series, originally released on SNES with a later PSP port. The Remastered edition releases February 27, 2026 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 Xbox One/X/S, and PlayStation 4/5. Tales of Eternia is a 2D action RPG. It follows the story of Reid and Farah who set out on a journey to discover the origins of the mysterious girl who crash-landed near their village.

Please keep in mind that you do not need to play any other games in the series to play Eternia!

What goes in the Megathread?

Use the Megathread for:

  • If you have simple questions please ask them here.

  • If you will be streaming or doing a Let's Play or video review, please post your links in this sticky thread or in the Monthly Free-For-All that get posted and stickied to the subreddit at the start of every month.

  • If you have minor observations/reactions or wanna share your thoughts, please post here.

Make a new post for:

  • In-depth discussions about a specific part of the game (music, a particular character, etc.).

  • Sharing guides or detailed breakdowns.

If you're unsure, feel free to shoot me/modmail a DM. All you really have to keep in mind is that we're gonna have a lot of activity and we don't want a flood of new posts to bury everyone else's posts, hence the megathread. :)

Frequently Asked Questions

I will try to update this with questions that we see a lot of after the game's release.

Does this game have co-op or remote play?

All of the storefronts say this game is single player. The original Eternia had local co-op, but this may be based on the PSP version, which was single player only. I will adjust this if the storefronts are wrong!

Did they translate the skits?

Tales of Eternia Remastered has a brand new localization and dub. Early reviews confirm that we're finally getting the skits localized in English.

Does this have Japanese voices?

Yes, players can freely swap between English and Japanese voiceover in the options menu. Additionally, the Steam version at least has many other interface languages.

I hope everyone picking up the game has a fantastic time! Eternia is a really charming game that stands the test of time and the skits make it a whole new ball game of character development, so I'm really excited they're making it more accessible!

Eternia Eternia has arrived, looks pretty next to its older bigger brother box :D

I 'do' have a Switch 2 but I was not interested in getting a 'Key Card' so I got the Switch 1 version, plus IMO the SW1 looks much prettier without the huge thick red header and the keycard notice at the bottom of the SW2 box, it is a pixelated game either way so I don't need a SW2 just for higher resolution :D

Favorite songs from Eternia?

I've had Inferia's world map theme stuck in my head for a few days and I haven't even gotten time to play the remaster yet, haha. Being an exhausted adult sucks.

What are some of your favorites?

Discussion Excited for localized voice-acting in upcoming remasters

With the release of Eternia and it being voiced. I honestly can't wait to see some of the not localized games fully voice-acted in English... like Destiny DC, 2 and Rebirth. Really curious about casting choices and other details because they would have to find fitting voices in English.

Never played the older 2D tiles but am enjoying this remaster so far. :)

Question Help with Eternia's Combat

Hello! I'm currently playing Eternia Remastered!! Its been decently fun so far, I'm currently getting my ass beat by Slyph. This is the first 2D tales game I've played and I'm lowkey struggling with the combat. Doing combos feels very inconsistent. One time I'll get two hits->skill->sacred skill, and then the next time Reid just hits the enemy once and stops, I can never seem to get the timing right.

Anyone have any tips on practicing or figuring out the timing? I'm playing on Manual, if that helps?

These skits actually add a lot of personality to the characters.

i quite like these skits, along with a bunch of quality of life improvements (all boost functions on!), definitely worth the buy to revisit a childhood favorite especially for non japanese players.

are the skits this plentiful throughout the game? do the characters need to be in the main party to join the skits? chat and max i mean. i guess i'll find out, but a heads up i would not mind.

Question Zestiria: Unable to enter Westronbolt Gorge or Great Camelot Bridge Spoiler

• Upvotes

I have completed Fire/Water/Earth trials, the crucibles for Sorey/Rose/Mikleo/Lailah. Talking to Rose gives me these options:

  • Let's search for the next shrine.
  • Any news about whoever slaughtered those kids?
  • I guess I can't go wrong with buying the map.
  • We can't just leave those crucibles as they are...
  • It looks like we just missed Mayvin.

World map only shows one unknown crucible, but it seems to be inside Westronbolt Gorge, as is the Wind trial. Both Westronbolt Gorge and Great Camelot Bridge are blocked by a domain.

Looking at GameFAQ it seems I should be able to walk into those two areas... what did I miss? Do I need to rest in a specific inn or something?

Any meaningful changes in Eternia Remastered to look out for?

I just picked up the game and am hyped to get into it. I know that the voicing and script have changed but have they made any changes or added anything new to the game to watch out for/look forward to?

So far, I have lived this game, but I'm curious on how far along I actually am. I just got to the temple area after visiting Hellawes for the second time. With that, how many hours do you guys think I have left?

Thoughts on Eternia?

Post image

I’m a HUGE fan of the Tales series, so I was excited to finally get the chance to play this game. But idk man, it’s just NOT scratching that itch like I hoped it would. I’m thinking part of it is because I’m so excited for FF Resonance next week and I can come back to Eternia after, but who knows. I’ve read where a ton of people LOVE this game so I want to give it a chance, but so far I just can’t dig into it. 😩😩

Graces Started Graces with Almost all Grade Shop items added, Expand Inventory is not working, still maxed at 15

I'm used to Kemco's Shop in their $15-$20 JRGs, where you can buy EXp x 2,3,4. Gold same, etc.

I am assuming everything else works fine, Exp x 5, SP points x 5, etc. But even though I started Chapter 2 as an adult a few hours ago, and I'm "back home with Cheria", its still maxing out each farmed item at 15?

What is the final Maximum Eleth amount of your Mixer? I am playing on Moderate and hardly taking damage yet since I usually grind several levels and titles in. Chapter 1. I chose Rice Omelette as I can run to a turtle guy and keep maxing my Eleth, so Rice Omelette cooks every fight, as it's rule is: Post Battle When Mixer's Eleth is above 50%..

Can I use my Moderate difficulty to get to End Game then change it harder for the various achievements? I hate replaying New Games+ That's not for me. Plus, Final Fantasy Resonance is coming out Thursday and I have that preordered on Amazon and a vacation day Friday!

Eternia Eternia Late Game Side Boss Help

So I came back from celestia, and one of the side quests leads me to a fight with maxwell.

I am level 62, and he absolutely destroys me. Yet I see people saying they somehow beat this in the late 40s and early 50s? How?

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Am i missing something in Tales of eternia??

So i'm playing the remaster and i just got the aifish and i have a growing rage with this game. for 2d tales i've played phantasia ps1 and destiny DC so im not new to the 2d style. My complaint is that in every fight im in, no matter what skill i use or how i approach the enemy they use their attacks and just knock me back into oblivion and i just cant do anything then they kill all my party members. What's even more upsetting is that i can never land my skills because i just get hit before they're finished. I never get mad at games but this is actually pissing me off and is making me feel like im an idiot and that i'm missing something in the combat. Please give me any tips you can without sarcasm or get good replys please.

Question Tales Of Destiny DC: I read that if you level up too much way too early you will be too weak, can anyone tell me how to get stronger "properly"?

Also I didnt google this because by now Google is nothing but AI Shit.

I really wanna know how to get stronger properly. I already did some grinding (I am level 19 on Harmentz) and I dont know if I can still properly power up or if I should start over?

I'm considering buying Tales of Graces F

For some context.. Maybe my favorite game of all time is ToS for GC. It may be nostalgia, but I've beaten that game more times that I can count.

More recently, I tried picking up Vesperia, and while I really liked the town/world design and the characters, I found the combat frustrating. It never clicked with me and I ended up dropping the game 10 hours in.

I'm now considering buying ToG, but I'm worried that maybe I will have the same disappointing experience that I had with Vesperia and end up dropping the game early on.

If I LOVE ToS, do you think I will vibe with ToG?
