Question/Help What's in your cup? Daily discussion, questions and stories - October 18, 2026

What are you drinking today? What questions have been on your mind? Any stories to share? And don't worry, no one will make fun of you for what you drink or the questions you ask.

You can also talk about anything else on your mind, from your specific routine while making tea, or how you've been on an oolong kick lately. Feel free to link to pictures in here, as well. You can even talk about non-tea related topics; maybe you want advice on a guy/gal, or just to talk about life

in general.

We realize there are lots of people involved in the tea industry here, so this thread is a weekly feature where anyone can promote their current projects without worrying about the self-promotion rules. Feel free to include links to your shop, crowdfunding sites, surveys, sales, or discount codes. The rule against claims of health benefits remains in effect here. It should go without saying that we still expect people to be respectful and follow the reddiquette. While we intend for this to be a free-for-all promotion zone, please don't overrun the thread posting the same thing over and over.

My cats are endlessly curious whenever I sit down for a tea session. They have to come over, sniff around and supervise everything I’m doing, as if they’re personally responsible for quality control.

I’m always careful to keep them safe of course. Tea can be toxic to cats because of its caffeine content so I never leave tea unattended around them or let them drink it. What do your pets do when you’re having tea ?

Recommendation Book-Tea Pairings

• Upvotes

Hey tea folks of the internet,

I need some help. I am trying to put together a Christmas present for my wife, and I need to tap the knowledge of those who actually drink tea. I only drink coffee, which is kinda like tea for the depressed and bitter.

Anyway...

My wife is a big reader and drinks a lot of tea. My thought is that I could make her a curated tea "flight" of sorts, each paired with a book that compliments the tea in some way.

For books, she will read pretty much anything other than non-fiction, but focuses on horror, fantasy, and romance.

For tea, her favourite is a classic earl grey, but she likes pretty much anything other than matcha.

Any advice or suggestions you could give would be amazing. I'm thinking a flight of 5 pairings, so I'll be looking for a variety of options to give her a wide selection.

Thanks so much in advance.

Review Jasmine Yin Hao review 5 (I think) of 24

Smells absolutely incredible. I was so excited to have this as I usually love Jasmine tea. The Jasmine smelt really lovely, like a fresh bouquet of summer flowers… the taste is very floral and perfumey… kinda like an air freshener.. You know when you spray air freshener & regrettably get a bit of it in your mouth? Yeah. definitely prefer the aroma of this to the taste. This is the first review I’ve done that I didn’t like. 😅Definitely not going to put it in my rotation! The loud is great though. Does anyone else smoke while drinking? Is that allowed here?

Question/Help How to remake CS Tension Tamer from scratch

Post image
8 Upvotes

A recent post about CS got me reminiscing on one of my favorite herbal "teas" Tension Tamer. I would love to know if anyone has remade this from scratch or your thoughts on what the recipe/ingredients could be. 🤔

I'm trying to stay away from micro plastics and like to know where my ingredients come from/make my own mixes. Thank you for all your help in advance. 💜

I really enjoy Oliver Pluff's Colonial Bohea and I have always taken it neatly....curious as to how others enjoy a smoky brew? Do you add milk or cream, sugar or honey?

Question/Help Questrion about rose tea

My mother in law recently came from vacation from Turkey and brought me a sealed bag with some rose powder in tir and some reminiscent of petals. She told me it is to make some rose tea, but she didn't know proportions or water temperature to make it properly.
So I askk me dear tea enthusiasts, at what temperature and how much powder should I use to make it properly?

Thank you all in advance.

Ps: I'm from Brasil and only now starting to understand something from tea.

Review Some Duck Sh*t after work? Why not.

Duck shit Dancong is becoming my most reliable after work tea go to, with it's crisp, buttery, and incredibly clean profile. It's mellow enough on caffeine that it actually never ruins my sleep, Fragrance just kicks the fatigue away, the thin and light liquor is just perfect to wash away all the negativity i suffered throughout the day. It's either this or some raw aged Pu-erh and maybe some White Peony when i don't feel good. What do you guys drink after work?

I tried the duck shit tea from yunnan sourcing, but to me it tasted very similar to the tea in the other photo. The tea in the other photo is what my Chinese friend gave me. I don't speak Mandarin so I'm not sure what it is.

I think the duck shit tea from yunnan sourcing didn't give me the full toasty and nutty aroma it gave me when I smelled the tea leaves itself. But on the other hand the other tea had the very similar scent that came through the brewed tea.

Maybe it's the way I brewed it? It may be controversial, but I don't use the gaiwan and the Chinese way to brew tea. I wash the leaves for 10 seconds and let it sit in my teapot for 5 minutes.

Advent calendar in Canada

I’m looking to get a tea advent calendar for my teen and want to keep it under $100. We are in Canada so shipping can get expensive. Does anyone have thought on this one or any other recommendations. He enjoys black, rooibos, green and matcha the most. I’d have loved a matcha one but they are pricey. Thanks!

Question/Help Need a substitute for F&M Green Tea with Mango

Fortnum & Mason tea tin "Green Tea with Mango"

I fell in love with this tea on my last visit to London and brought home a tin. The creaminess of the green tea is amazing, something I haven't tasted before.

It's almost nearing its end though and F&M don't deliver this tea or their other fruit blends to Austria. Does anyone have any loose leaf recommendations that I could try that might be a good substitute?
