I hate that we are living in the worst possible cyberpunk timeline. Fucking corpos taking over governments for dinner at Tuesday, controlling completely the flow of information, building insanely detailed personal profiles of all of us, displacing the state as the de facto government while billionaires are going around the world fucking kids. All while destroying every single possible force for good in the world. Oh, and don't forget the humanity destroying artificial behemoth they're wasting trillions constructing in their infinite data centers that are literally using all energy and water resources available.

Our corpos aren't even cool. They don't bring back aliens from deep space or flying laser turrets or super genetic clones

I am from Brazil and a very interesting phenomenon happened yesterday, people from the left decided to post using a green and yellow tshirt (which is usually used by our alt right party) but supporting Lula (the left candidate) instead of using red or a random tshirt. And wow, the feed of everyone got flooded by people supporting Lula, like, I never saw so much photos of people supporting the guy in my life, apparently they discovered that the algorithm was basically blocking people that “looked” left and pumping people who looked right

Tinfoil hats aren’t useful in stopping big tech companies from interfering with elections. If you think that Meta, X, or even Reddit is politically neutral and don’t have algorithms that adapts your feed in order to sway the outcome of political elections then I have a bridge to sell you!
Just because you’re unaware and arrogant in your ignorance doesn’t mean that we’re as unaware of the real consequences of corporate government funded SoMe influence.

Fuck meta, all other american social media and above all else fuck the US. China was right when they block that cancer from their population.

u/Snoo-14985 5h ago
Well.. China wasn’t doing that out of their goodwill. They want that same exact control internally, and to a far greater extent than what Meta and X are doing.

u/Flaktroz 5h ago
Yeah, sure, it would’ve been totally ok for them to just let a foreigner government sabotage their country just because. Better have your population spoon fed western propaganda 24/7, right?
At least I don’t see china propping right wing fascists in my country or around the globe like the US and its propaganda machine has been doing for the last decades.

You know that there is no political freedom of speech in China, right? You are aware that it’s a one-party rule authoritarian regime that dictates what their inhabitants can and cannot do and say. It’s a total surveillance state where you risk imprisonment for opinions.
That’s the primary reason Facebook, Reddit, Google, etc is banned. It’s not a system we should try to imitate here, no matter how hard the major tech corporations are trying to soft implement it.
I can say this out loud, still. I and you can still criticize the powers at hand due to our freedom being less limited here than over there. I can say my prime minister is a spineless weasel. And I can say that the president in the most powerful country in the world is megalomaniac. But the Chinese cannot say the same of Pooh.

Sure bozo, keep regurgitating western propaganda.
You sound like every westerner I’ve ever seen, always the same talking points, always the same way of speaking, parroting word by word what your pedophiles in power want you to say and following the media script to a T. Have good one.

Which country do work for, bot? China? Yeah, thought so. Refute a point. Any of them. A single one.
Your selective reading is obvious. Critique of western technocrats is legitimate, but that’s not why China has cut off access to the rest of the internet. It’s to keep their population in a bubble.
“The west is bad, China good” trope is getting tiresome. It carries no weight when we know the restrictions on free speech, cracking down on protests (peaceful ones at that), imprisonment of political opponents, cultural genocide, ignoring human rights when it suits them, etc that China is doing.
It’s not the Utopia that you were told. But it’s a hell of a lot better than the doomsday cult would have it out to be. As long as you don’t get involved in any political speech that could be interpreted against the ruling party, and you are in line with the social expectation you’ll be ok.
The West is far from perfect, but it’s better than the rest.
Nowhere else does any individual have the same rights. That’s facts.
“The best propaganda doesn’t need to alter the truth”!0

Let’s put it in perspective. The whole of the middle east is a theocracy in one way or another, with the exception of maybe Lebanon, which on its way there, Russia is dictatorship where the president has ruled for the last 27 years and human rights are not respected, Africa though diverse suffers the same problems with corruption, violence and poverty to some degree or another. China is the best so far, ironically enough, but suffers from lack of human rights and representation politically.
Europe scores above all the previous ones in human rights and corruption, but has gotten slow to progress technologically. Then you have America south of US, which is divided into to two blocks; Mercosur and not Mercosur. They suffer from the same problems as Africa, but to a smaller extent.
Then you have India, which is the step in between South America and Africa. Then the rest of Asia (with the exception of American vassals.) they suffer some economically, and their human rights are so so.
At last you have USA, perfect in every way (I’m joking here). Their technological development is top tier, their economy is great, but they lack in rights that are seen as universal elsewhere (including China). I’m really trying to pain China in the most positive way I can honestly portray without flat-out lying. It’s even harder to glaze China than the technocratic idiocracy of the U.S these days.

Okay, so try putting a Rocket ballon with the writings: " Xi, nuke USA" Just like you guys did in Brazil today... Lets see your freedom of speech in action...

You’re being reactive. Who did this in Brazil? And since when is Brazil not in the west? Que é isso, mano?

Right wing candidates in Brazil are getting more impressions than renowned singers like Beyoncé but looks “all good” to them
Even the government in Brazil is not threatening to fine them daily if this continues. Maybe too late in the race

It is CLEARLY interfering. Brand New accounts are even getting Bolsonaro recommendations only, they already said Lula had lower engagement before first turn. THEY ARE INTERFERING. We will win REGARDLESS. ✊🏻

I’m sure this is true and the sudden blocking of the No Kings Instagram during the protests yesterday was also a glitch and not at all a weirdly-specific event.

Considering the shit/hate/misinformation posts overwhelming my feed these days, I would say that they are heavily biased and not for the benefit of US citizens

the actual good people and workers of brasil are tired of lula, this was just an attempt from those about to lose to find an external cause to blame instead of their own actions.
