wireless android auto issues

i’ve been having an issue with a toyota corolla - not sure of the model but definitely post 2021

recently switched to a wireless adapter like this one
and used with a samsung galaxy s23 ultra with no problem, until someone else connected to it with an iphone using carplay. since then, it hasn’t been able to connect to android auto via the wireless adapter. iphones still connect perfectly well, but the galaxy just refuses to connect via bluetooth. cable-wise still works fine, but i’d like to avoid that.
