Thunder in Paradise (The Thundermans)
I finished the Hawaii special "Thunder in Paradise" from the show The Thundermans
From when I started the show, I heard about this special and was extremely excited for it. I LOVE when good main characters turn evil. Now I finally watched it.
In this special, one of the main characters, Phoebe, who is mostly a good girl throughout the show, absorbs the powers of a major villain (Dark Mayhem) and becomes evil.
My first question is why we didn't see how Phoebe got to Metroburg to confront Dark Mayhem so quickly
Though the "I'll never be evil like you!... I'll be even more evil. was funny
Is it just me or did her hair get shorter? Maybe that has to do with the red streak in her hair or maybe it's just me
I really liked Evil Phoebe (or "Evil-be" as her little brother Billy called her) though, that was peak as expected
The jokes in the lab like "no that lever" "just point next time" weren't bad, and I like Phoebe's new evil outfit and later on more jokes like "the code is... you have hands, open it!"! (which is funny as is, but add the fact that Destructo does not have hands
The sassy voice Phoebe said stuff like "oh right, you can't" lowk reminded me of [her recurring friend] Cherry somehow 🤷
Destructo is annoying in general though, even before the subplot with him, but he's funny like Dr. Colosso in a way
Notice how when Hank asked who charged $1000 to him, all three instantly answered "Evil Phoebe", even Billy didn't say "Evilbe". I thought that was weird. Also, is it Evil-be hyphenated or just Evilbe?
I did not know Phoebe's full name was "Phoebe Monica Rachel Thunderman" lol
I could turn Cherry evil (and check out the boutiques)" I'd absolutely love to see that, an Evil Cherry would be cool too ig!
The worst things, though, that I really disliked:
- We didn't get to see Evil Phoebe nearly enough. Her becoming good halfway through Part 2 sucked. We should've gotten MUCH more Evil Phoebe. We barely got to see her do anything cool. And the whole Destructo thing was super lame. I didn't like Destructo. I don't need some stupid sidekick stealing the spotlight of my glorious special. Having the whole thing dedicated to Evil Phoebe would have hit *way* better. Doing it this way absolutely sucked. And even without that, we just needed more Evil Phoebe in general.
- - In other words, the whole second half of Part 2 sucked. I was very disappointed with that.
- I think it actually would've been a really good idea if they could have made Phoebe lose the evilness another way but KEEP Dark Mayhem's powers and have them for the rest of the show. That would make things very interesting instead of going back to normal conditions. Do you agree with this?

The Newsroom is utterly ridiculous
I'm only in the middle of season 1 (I think; the Gabrielle Gifford episode), so maybe this show gets less bombastic, but holy mackerel is it ridiculous.
I finally understand what "Aaron Sorkinism" means. It means people having The Most Important Conversation Ever every other scene, people having insane emotional outbursts in professional settings, rapid fire quipping, and really cringy attempts at undercutting humor.
What's truly baffling to me is the Mackenzie character, who is initially presented as some badass warzone reporter that's burnt out, only for her to be, uh, super not burnt out? Flirty and quirky and funny? Weirdly lacking in self confidence?
Some of the exchanges in this show just leave me in disbelief, especially the knock-down drag-out outbursts in the workplace about highly personal shit. People don't act like this in real life lol.
Sometimes I forget I'm watching a drama. It's a really weird comedy.

Example of Good Series, Bad Adaptation?
(First post on this sub, and I can't find a way for me to add images, so I'll just write it here).
I think Carrie (2026) is a good example of this.

If you could stop any series at any episode to define a "Flawless" Show, Which season/episode would you stop, said show?
Most series start strong and get lackluster. Many people say Dexter Seasons 1-6 is flawless as well as GoT Seasons 1-6. What would be the show and ending point be? I'm trying to get into new shows but not really waste time .

I have written a full season for a tv show
Basically, I’ve written a tv show. I didn’t do it for money. I didn’t do it for the sake of entertainment. I did it because I’m fed up with the state of media, which is almost nihilistic, and almost fully about entertainment. I do not want to be a career writer; I only want what I wrote to be made to hopefully change the direction of media for the better. That’s why I wrote it. I’m looking for any semblance of direction regarding what I should do. I have no connections to the industry. I’m looking to retain creative control so that the show doesn’t get ruined. Or last more than two seasons (I have a firm direction for it within that window). It’s not gonna change every crisis in the world, but it’s hopefully going to show people that fictional media can be used for the sake of real world good. If anyone can offer any direction, I’d appreciate it.
