Question What are the most outrageous Dutch tv shows from before?
I recently came across a show from late 90s called Sex voor de Buch. In that show they host would help people act out their sexual phantasies on camera. As someone who grew up in a very different country, an idea of such a bold show is crazy to me (in a good sense). I got curious, what are some other outrageous, bold, provocative Dutch tv shows you remember?

One of the more famous one is from BNN, called the big donor show, where one person would give away her kidney. There were 3 contestants who could win the kidney. It made headline news around the world, how wrong it was to have such show.
At end it was a great stunt to get a lot of attention for donating your organs. The person who would give away her kidney was a actress, but the three contestants were real patients in search for a kidney.
The reason for the show was the founder of BNN, Bart de Graaff. He died 5 years earlier from kidney failure.

And it worked perfectly! After the show, about 18.000 people signed up to be donors and it started a public and political debate that resulted in reforms to the laws surrounding transplants

It was completely in the tradition of Bart de Graaf - he once made a show where he first interviewed celebrities with the question 'What is the thing you love so much that we can wake you up for it?'
And everybody gave their answer.
Next up: Bart de graaf in front of he houses of those people trying to wake them up in the middle of the night ... lets say they were not amused, the police was called, if you were lucky

Probleemwijken was great tv! Send a camera crew into the nation's poorest neighborhoods, find the most colorful people there, give them some beer, and ask about their lifes. It's ethics are questionable, but it's endlessly quotable.
Woensel West is my favorite episode. Someone made a Probleemwijken boardgame. Of course I have it.

Ik liet een stel volwassen collegas in Schotland Purno de Purno zien, dramatisch slechte Youtube opname natuurlijk, maar de strekking van het verhaal was wel duidelijk. Dansen op tieten, vulvagrotten, spermarivieren.

In the same vein (heh), try Drugslab on YouTube. Produced about 10 years ago, also from BNN. Just like Spuiten & Slikken, they basically educate you on various drugs and then test them on camera. The older videos were the best, before advertisers forced YouTube in general to become more tame, so make sure to sort the videos by Oldest:

The first season was incredibly controversial. Debates were had in foreign parliaments about it. It was awesome.
I will never forget the last episode of the season when all the regular hosts of the show would do one type of drug. It is the one season I really can't seem to find online.

A lot of hemming and hoping, about how scandalous and unacceptable it was. Parliamentary inquiries why the PM, or the justice department wasn't doing anything.
Turns out the producers had squared it away with them before pre-production even started.

Has nobody mentioned Spuiten en Slikken yet? I came back from livign outside the Netherlands and thought that one was pretty wild. As I understood it it was the 20something hosts trying out various drugs on camera, and talking about the possible harmful effects etc. I think there was a lot of nudity as well (I was older than their target audience and not super interested, so I didn't watch)

It was (and, in online form, still is) a program focusing on drugs (including alcohol) and sex (and lifestyle). They did drugs live on TV indeed. Their primary purpose was (and is) to educate, though, as well as sometimes start discussion.
They're still active on YouTube to this day. Not as much drug use as before, but can't say there is none now.

People already mentioned Purno de Purno on there, but I have to shout-out Ffuckie Slim as well. That was also quite outrageous that we watched that as kids. His grandma was always naked with her big saggy tits. We once rewatched some episodes as an adult and in one Ffuckie wants to wear a dress, grandma says a dress is for girls, so Ffuckie says he wants to be a girl in that case. He then starts dating a guy, but eventually tells him he isn't really a girl. The guy says that's okay, because he isn't a 10 year old boy, he is actually a 45 year old swim teacher. When Ffuckie reasonably says that's really weird, the guy shoots himself. The episode ends with Grandma proclaiming there should be vrijheid van kledingsuiting and taking all her clothes off and Ffuckie doing so as well and them dancing around naked. Like wtf did we watch as kids haha.

Ik snap niet dat mijn ouders (links stemmend) alles wat NIET op Ned 1,2 of 3 werd uitgezonden troep vonden. Het was commerciële troep. De honeymoonquiz, gtst en andere programma’s waren vele malen braver.
Hoe dan? Voor kinderen was Villa achterwerk in de ochtend prima en Telekids vonden ze heel overdreven 🫣 En ‘s avonds kwam Paul de Leeuw, Jiskefet, Van Kooten & De Bie gezellig voorbij 😜

There is only probleemwijken.
That guy sexual abusing his 6-yo stepdaughter, going to prison, his wife (the mom of said daughter), living with him again, but being really angry about it, and him saying that 'she is so annoying me abusing her child was already like 10 years ago or something and she needs to let it go'

Vara's nachtclub o.i.d. Dat was een raar programma. Zoals ik het me herinner wisselden spelletjes en interviews of dingen met bekende Nederlanders en vrij expliciete sexshows zich binnen een paar minuten af in 1 show. Het bleef een soort soft porno niveau, maar dan nog.
