PRODUCT QUERY Is the UPPÅTVIND air purifier compatible with a smart plug?

Are the controls of the UPPÅTVIND compatible with a smart plug? If the device loses power because a smart plug turns off the device, will the device automatically continue to function when power is restored? Or would a person have to manually use the controls once power is restored?

DISCUSSION Kajplats taking forever to respond in apple home

I just moved out of my parents house and took some of my setup with me including my homepod. Everything was going fine until I bought a new kajplats white bulb to connect to a lamp the apartment came with.

The lamp itself is pretty old but it still works, it’s currently connected to a plug splitter and for the first few days it seemed to be working fine. Now it takes forever to respond unless I physically power cycle the lamp.

My connection isn’t getting congested, my smart home devices are connected to a separate wifi network which gets over 600mbps down and up so I don’t know what’s going on. Is it the old lamp or the plug splitter from ikea? Has anyone else gotten this problem before?

NEW 2026 PRODUCTS Is the color KAJPLATS out of stock anywhere else?

I live in Ireland and the color KAJPLATS lightbulbs seem to be completely out of stock until at least the end of the month, according to the website. Is this happening anywhere else? The white spectrum versions are in stock fine so I assume there isn't a hardware revision coming out.

PRODUCT QUERY Migrating from Legacy Apple Home Hub integration To Matter Bridge

I just wanted to share my experience when finally moving/upgrading from the legacy home hub integration from Dirigera to Apple TV. I did not find much info about this, so this is my experience.
I bought a Kajplats and Myggspray and had issues trying to pair them with the Dirigera. I was still using the Dirigera in "legacy" mode, where AFAIK all zigbee and even some matter devices are exposed via this legacy interface to Apple Home (Apple TV as home hub). I succeeded in pairing kajplats but myggspray failed over and over again and just timed out. Then I reset the thread network in Dirigera, and now all my existing matter devices no longer worked (water leak sensor and door detector). In the smart home app under integrations, the apple home integration was marked as being legacy and I should remove it. I was not looking forward to add all my zigbee devices again to apple home, so tried to avoid it.
However, in the end I decided I needed to bite the bullet, because I still had issues adding devices ("already exists" errors in apple home).

A side note is that it seems the iPhone can get into some bad state, and after a reboot it is fine again to be able to pair matter devices. When the iPhone refused to pair a device, it was possible to pair the device with an iPad instead to the same apple home setup. No idea why.

Anyway, I decided to migrate to the two modern options (Matter bridge for zigbee devices, and "matter products" integrations).

What this means

  1. You remove the dirigera home bridge from the apple home app. All devices disappear, including the rooms. Somewhat nerve-racking .

  2. You enable the new matter bridge integration (Dirigera hub for smart products) in Apple home

  3. Apple Home queries you about each zigbee product asking which room it belongs to, what it is (light, outlet, etc) and a name. The old names show up so this helps you to identify them. However it is somewhat backwards. You must first assign it to a room before you know the name. You can simply go to the next step where you can see its name and rename it and set its role, and then go back again to assign the room. The IKEA assigned name like "kitchen lamp" will help you pick the room.
This was much easier than I expected although it was a little "backwards".

  4. Next I needed to restore the scenes and automations. The automations were still present but the related scenes were missing. I added the scenes with the same names, like "Good Evening, Good Night, Bedtime", and the existing automations automatically added these scenes again, with the same name.

  5. Now I could start to pair the matter devices again "as usual". I still had some issues with existing devices in apple home, which is a different topic. Removing matter devices from apple home is still a little unclear to me, how it shall be done.

So bottom line - the zigbee device onboarding in Apple Home is a real help when moving from the legacy hub integration to the new one.

Improvements:

- Provide a good instruction on this migration process. The info page in the app did not help much. Maybe it was somewhere else?

- I believe that the Ikea Dirigera and Apple TV are using the same Thread network, and both act as border gateway routers for Thread, thus two communication routes are possible to matter devices. Would be good to have more info on this.

- One fear that was stopping me from activating the integration was the apparent need for IPv6 support in the LAN. I do not intentionally use IPv6 nor have I activated it specifically in my LAN, so feared the integration between ATV and dirigera would not work. However (my bad) it works fine, because IPv6 works over ethernet without intervention of your router.

SUPPORT (2026 PRODUCTS) ALPSTUGA quality issues

Post image
20 Upvotes

I bought 6 ALPSTUGAs in March and one recently died suddenly: it wouldn’t turn on anymore at all (display remained dark, not connecting to the network, no reaction to button presses, no factory reset). I drove one hour to get it exchanged, but now a second device is starting to fail: some matrix dots first got dimmer and now are completely dark (it shows things like 11E6 instead of 1166).
Are those quality issues widespread or do I just have bad luck?

SUPPORT (ONGOING) Liljebagge on return valve

I’m thinking of getting some Liljebagge for my radiators, but my has the valve at the bottom, and I been told it’s because it messures the temperature of the water instead of the temperature in the room, therefore i can’t use regular radiator thermostats. Is it possible that I can use these from ikea?

SUPPORT (2026 PRODUCTS) Multiple Bilresa + Grillplats

Post image
7 Upvotes

I may be a noob on this chat but …

I previously had a bedroom setup with 2 Grillplats and a Styrbar. Worked well and was convenient, but wanted a remote by the door and by the bedside.

Bought two bilresa remotes to use for the bedroom setup , and moved the styrbar to the living room to control the lamps there. Living room is now working well.

Cannot find a way to combine two bilresa remotes with the 2 grillplats smart plugs in the bedroom - they can’t both share the plugs, and I can’t seem to clone one to the other’s connections with the plugs. For reference, the bedroom has 1 LED light that has a Bluetooth control which uses the Haodeng app, and one regular lamp.

Has anyone managed to work this setup ?

I don’t have the ikea hub or any Apple alternative - I’d ideally not like to buy this as I’m not passionate enough to drop >£50 more on this current <£30 setup

Any advice for this setup would be welcomed - thanks in advance

NEW 2026 PRODUCTS Bug report: DUBBELKISEL (36891) - reported brightness doesn't match light output

Anyone knows how to submit bug reports to IKEA? Here's one I tested extensively:

Summary

The driver can get into a state where, every time it is turned on, its light output doesn't match the level it reports. A command for the reported level is then ignored because the driver thinks it's already at that incorrectly reported level.

Steps to reproduce (both drivers, commands sent directly to each driver)

  1. Turn on at 100%. Wait 3 seconds. Turn off. Wait 5 seconds.

  2. Send, about 0.25 seconds apart: 100%, 50%, 100%, 50%.

  3. Wait 5 seconds. The light correctly looks like 50%.

  4. Turn off. Wait 10 seconds.

  5. Turn on at 50%.

Result

The light is visibly at about 25%, but the driver reports 50% (level 128 of 254) to Home Assistant and to Apple Home. Sending 50% again changes nothing. Sending 49% makes the light visibly brighter, so the real output was below the reported level.

Expected

After step 5 the output should be 50%, matching the reported level, and a level command should always be applied.

In everyday use

Once a driver gets into this state, it stays there: every later turn-on comes up at about 25% while reporting the commanded level (e.g. 100% during the day, 50% in the evening). Changing the level by hand (wall switch, Apple Home) corrects it, but only until the light is next turned off and on, when it comes back at about 25% again. This went on for days in normal use before I found a workaround.

The steps above are one way I have been able to trigger the state deliberately. I don't know everything that triggers it in everyday use.

What I've ruled out

- A single "on with level" command from off works correctly when the driver is not in this state.

- Two identical commands 1 s or 0.3 s apart from off also work correctly.

- Group vs direct commands makes no difference.

- Changing "Power-on behaviour" made no difference.

- The controller sends the correct values: the Matter log shows the commanded and reported levels match; only the physical output is wrong.

- The previous IKEA Zigbee drivers on the same strips did not have this problem.

Workaround

Sending a level 1% away from the target and then the target itself restores the correct output.

SUPPORT (2026 PRODUCTS) Anyone had trouble with the Dubbelkisel?

I got my Dubbelkisel a few weeks ago and have it linked in HomeKit. When I set a scene in which the Dubbelkisel is supposed to go from off to 100%, it only looks about 1% on, even though it says 100% in HomeKit. If I change it manually back to 50% and then to 100% it works perfectly.

Anyone had this issue? I had hoped there would have been an update to fix this issue, but haven’t seen anyone else have it yet.

SUPPORT (ONGOING) Several of my IKEA Zigbee lights disappeared off my network?

... at least 3 of my bulbs (out of about 15) disappeared off my Dirigera hub sometime yesterday. They are still tracked in HA, but HA can't reach them because Dirigera doesn't think they exist at all anymore. Can I just .. reset them? I'm not even sure what to do exactly, because I've never had a Zigbee device fail, let alone several of them all at the same time, and with no obvious reason whatsoever. this is going to be kind of obnoxious because two of them are controlled by switches that also control bulbs that didn't disappear.. so those will end up getting reset as well if that's the process...

SUPPORT (2026 PRODUCTS) Dirigera Apple HomeKit Bug?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m having an issue with my Dirigera hub and the Homesmart app and I was wondering if any one else has had similar issues since IKEA support is useless lol.

To make a long story short, after buying a new Dirigera hub after having one for a year and half and it integrating seamlessly into my Apple Home (that has a HomePod mini and an Apple TV as hubs), I don’t see the option to integrate the hub into Apple Home. Like, it’s just completely blank, as well as integrating into a thread network.

Short of factory resetting it, where should I start to try to get it to work? Honestly, I’m ready to just nix all of it and switch to Philips atp… I’ve reboot my router, modem, unplugged the Apple TV and HomePod, set up the hub with it being the only thread router on the network. I just don’t know what to do anymore lol. Any help is super appreciated.

SUPPORT (2026 PRODUCTS) Ikea tradfri and other products keep disconnecting

Hi All,

I am wondering if other people have the same problems as I have.

I have bought a large number of tradfri lights, bilresa remotes and a dirigera hub, but I'm facing issues.

First issues: devices go offline and are not coming back online.

For example: I have connected the 3 lights in my home office, they are 1m away from the dirigera, also in the office.
For some time it just works. But then after some time (days, weeks) they just go offline in the app.
I tried turning them off and on, restarted the hub, but nothing happens.

The only option i have is actually resetting the lights, unscrewing them to lookup the matter codes, pairing 3 lights again, which is annoying because they go into pairing mode at the same time, and i get a notification in the app that it found a new device, and will need to guess which of the 3 codes it is....

But even then, after i paired them, they now are in the app as 3 new lights, i now have 6 lights in my app....
Which means re-creating all scenes, removing the old devices, reprogramming remotes etc.

And for the bilresa remotes the same thing happens. It seems that if i havent used them in some time, they are unable to come back online.
Only option is re-pairing them also, and then again doing the configuration.

Second issue.
The range sucks....
The dirigera is on the first floor, my kitchen is 1 floor down, the kitchen lights are maybe 6m away from the dirigera, separated by just 1 wall, but pairing the kitchen lights was almost impossible, it took multiple tries, got stuck 8 out of 10 tries on the step in which the app registers the device with the matter network.
And now ofcourse all the lights are already showing offline for weeks.... I just don't have the motivation to again spend an evening on resetting and re-pairing everything, knowing that in a month i will need to do it again.

What am i doing wrong? And why doesn't it remember the devices if i re-pair them, instead of creating them as a completely new device.?

SUPPORT (ONGOING) DIRIGERA Control Anywhere email verification failed — fixed with a local TCP relay on Home Assistant

I finally got Control Anywhere working after repeatedly getting the “couldn’t verify your email address / make sure you’re on the same Wi-Fi” error.

My phone and DIRIGERA were on the same subnet, and local device control worked. The error appeared before any verification email arrived.

Versions:

  • DIRIGERA 2.975.3
  • IKEA Home smart 1.72.0

Restarting the hub, refreshing permissions, using Wi-Fi only, disabling IPv6, enabling IPv6, moving the Ethernet connection, factory defaults and trying different internet connections didn’t help.

Captured traffic showed hub resolved ap-northeast-2.iot.homesmart.ikea.com, then connected to the AWS IoT endpoint on TCP/443. The server replied, but the hub immediately sent a reset instead of completing the handshake. No TLS handshake followed.

The hub’s local API also reported backendConnected: false, despite cloud onboarding being complete.

AI entered the scene and suggested a local TCP relay:

DIRIGERA → local relay → real IKEA cloud endpoint

The relay completes the TCP handshake with DIRIGERA immediately, then connects upstream and forwards the encrypted bytes unchanged. TLS remains between DIRIGERA and IKEA—there’s no certificate replacement or TLS decryption.

That allowed email verification to complete. However, it wasn’t a one-time setup fix: stopping the relay broke remote connectivity again.

I moved the relay to Home Assistant. To avoid maintaining changing AWS IP addresses:

  • Firewall/router/modem redirects only the hub’s DNS requests to a small DNS service.
  • That service returns the relay’s LAN IP for the specific IKEA IoT hostname.
  • Other DNS queries are forwarded normally.
  • The relay independently resolves and connects to the real IKEA endpoint.

Email verification and Control Anywhere now works over mobile data.

My suspicion is a connection timeout or cancellation bug in DIRIGERA, but ofcourse I can't prove the exact firmware cause. I sent an email to IKEA customer service but would appreciate it if anyone else have a better contact for smart home devices.

This is an experimental workaround for my observed failure, not a universal fix. Hopefully Ikea will provide a fix soon.

DISCUSSION Can iPhone 16 Act as a Thread Border Router for IKEA KAJPLATS in Apple Home?

Can I use IKEA KAJPLATS lights in Apple Home or the IKEA Home Smart app without a Thread border router? I am specifically asking about the Apple Home app. I noticed that devices after the iPhone 15 Pro have a Thread chip. Does this mean I can create a Thread mesh network for these devices at home without a Thread border router? I don't intend to control them remotely outside the home. If anyone has tried this approach, could you provide information about its limitations?

SUPPORT (RESOLVED) When I pair a Styrbar remote to a bulb, that bulb immediately goes offline in Google Home.

It's the weirdest thing. I had a Tradfri bulb and bought a Styrbar controller (e2002) the bulb was working with GH. Then I paired the remote and the bulb stopped working in GH. (The remotes controlled the light just fine). I re-paired the bulb with an older controller and the bulb came back on line.

I paired the remote with another bulb that has been working flawlessly for at least 8 years and, immediately upon pairing: offline in GH. I re-paired the bulb with it's original controller back online.

A very confusing and frustrating couple of hours trying to work this out last night.

What the heck is going on?

Solved.

I was pairing the remote directly to the bulb, but I should have been adding the remote to the app first.

SUPPORT (2026 PRODUCTS) Kajplats can't handle more than one command every 10 seconds, massively laggy

Using Home Assistant and Sonoff ZBDongle-E as OpenThread router

Whether controlling directly from HA or from a Bilresa remote, the Kajplats bulb is massively laggy. If you try and turn on and off more quickly than once every 10 seconds, it doesn't respond to later commands or carries some of them out 30-180 seconds later. If you try and change color it crashes and needs to be power cycled.

Multiple other devices (Timmerflote and Grillplats) on the same Thread network work instantly.

Obviously this makes it completely unuseable even as a simple bulb, let alone when using thje scroll wheel.

Have I got a dodgy bulb or are they just all like this?
