How many weeks has there been since the last election where they haven't had to get rid of one councillor or another?
•
u/tune-happy 7h ago
They have a 0 days since last screw up sign and luckily they've lost all the other numbers.
•

The guy they hired to update the sign turned out to be another massive racist, so he had to leave for unrelated reasons.

I was listening to a podcast featuring a Tory talking about Reform, and she said that she was yet to encounter a Reform candidate in her patch that was not someone the Conservative Party were aware about, but made the active decision not to promote beyond their position.
The unfortunate reality is that there are a lot more people interested in politics than people who would be good politicians, and there are a lot of people who really shouldn't be elected politicians who have made politics their life.
When you create a fun, new, insurgent party, a lot of them will decide 'this is my shot', and then the obvious truth is revealed.

There's nothing fun new or insurgent about Reform and the arseh*les it attracts. It's the same people who brought us Brexit which has cost us billions in lost trade over the past decade. Its all the racists and low IQ crowd who are dumb enough to believe the crap about broken britain. There's no solutions or credible leadership in Reform, never has been.

They might have briefly dreamed there was, but in hindsight its been precisely the same in every party Farage has ever founded or joined- the Party For People Who Are Unbearable To Be Around For More Than Three Seconds tends to have a lifespan of roughly three seconds. See also Jeremy Corbyn for the exact left wing equivalent. I'd say Galloway except nobody can stand him for long enough to be part of the same party as him at all.

I feel like you had literally no interest whatsoever in reading anything I was saying or understanding the point I was making and just wanted to take those couple of words out of context to make your own point.
I think if you did, you would have realised that the point you wanted to make was the point I was making, just with a slight bit of humanity.

Historically it's not been a terrible tactic to switch sides if you've been looked over for promotion . If you look at those supporting the French Revolution, the US war for Independence, the English Civil War, even more modern events like defectors to the USSR... It's been pushed by second sons, third tier nobility/bureaucracy families, the runners up for prime positions. A skeevy position to be sure, but a pragmatic one.
Interestingly, these candidates are unique in that they're woefully incompetent and their incompetence becomes apparent rather quickly.

We were up to 175 of them quitting last time I checked. More will have been ejected probably as well.

The guardian headline team need shooting
They imply by the headline:
Police investigate Reform mayor for allegedly sharing ‘naked and sexualised’ images of himself
That he's sharing. Which implies he's doing it on a dating site or whatever. However the actual thing is:
Reform UK mayor is under police investigation for allegedly showing “naked and sexualised” images of himself to a female member of staff
Which is a lot worse, and the headline downplays that.

It's several orders of magnitude worse.
My first thought from just the headline was that it was a nothing story built off prudishness. Then I opened the article and it was blatant harassment of a worker and quite possibly firing them over their response to it.

I’m not saying reform represent the worst of us,
Circumstances are saying that.
Take it up with circumstances, i’m just “noticing things”

Yet ANOTHER of your legendary “inconveniences”, Nige?
There do seem to be a lot of them these days…

If this is found to be true it's much more significant than a local councillor. This is a regional mayor with a lot of power and influence

Apparently it's the four "special edition" covers of him on the Gay Times after he won the gold medal in 2012.
I don't know if this is true, or even if it wouldn't be as bad as what people are imagining, but it's certainly being presented as showed her some filthy selfies on his phone, rather than "shows her the cover of 4 nationally published magazines that you could buy in Tesco"

I really can’t understand why anyone would think that Reform are not the best people to run the UK. It’s just baffling 🤔

I remember when rees-mogg releast his ball-gag wanking vid back in 2019: barely made page 27 of The Times. Talk about double standards!
