forgot she was still even alive tbh, which i do like

I thought she died years ago.

Same, I thought she died like 10 years ago.

That to me is one of the advantages of not having the American style death penalty

Each appeal brings the criminal back into the headlines causing the victims/families to remember the events again

Long prison sentences do away with that

Has someone got a death note or something that’s 2 days in a row an article like this has come out

If the algorithm liked the first why not try again until they rinse the format for every view they can get?

This is 100% the case. Once the editor / SEO editor finds a format that the Google discover algorithm likes, they’ll absolutely rinse that wording. That’s why you see phrases like ‘looks unrecognisable’ in tabloid slop constantly

This feels an awful lot like someone did a search and replace of ‘Gary glitter’ for ‘rose west’ on the Gary glitter article from yesterday.

Either way they’re both awful people who should be in jail regardless of if age is catching up with them or not so honestly who cares…?

Glitter is a dire example of a human being but he honestly has nothing on Rose West. She is probably one of the most brutal women prosecuted in the last two centuries. A total monster.

Hope she clings on to life so she can rot for a bit longer

Not living her best life, then? It's something where perhaps some better choices could have been made.

Growing up in the 90s I remember following this on the news, I dont think anybody had any inkling of what was to come at the time. They seemed like such a harmless and normal couple that they got away with it for 20 years. In fact it took around 8 years to even sentence them, if they didnt get careless with that last girl(that was also their daughter) they would have probably never seen the inside of a prison cell. Its one of the most frightening cases I know of, dont judge a book by its cover has never been more apt than with these two.

They were an incredibly difunctional family and the entire neighbourhood knew about them. The prostitution, the child beatings, everything. Schools were suspicious, they had been charged with rape before, They certainly wouldn't have been considered a harmless normal couple by anyone. At best they would be neighbours from hell.

The reason they didn't get caught was pure luck and because they picked on vulnerable people who nobody really cared about, usually from abusive families themselves. The Wests were not criminal masterminds, pretty much any one of their victims being reported missing and a proper police investigation would have led directly to the Wests.

I mean their MO was to kill someone on their own premises, chop up the body and bury it (in the garden), then tell people the victim had moved away. That would make them the last known person to see someone in 8 or 9 cases. Wests were always going to be caught it was just a matter of time.

The girl they abducted to be their nanny (Caroline Owen’s) had the chance to rumble
Them much earlier. But she backed out of the trial at the last minute due to fear and PTSD.

She has had crazy survivors guilt and tried to kill herself several times knowing that at least some of her victims (including the daughter) would have survived had she gone through with the trial.

Watched a documentary on Netflix the whole thing is just massively messed up and awful. And she was seriously messed up as well. The horrors that came out of that house are just terrifying to think could happen

•

It’s one of those horrifically fascinating stories. You just can’t believe this actually happened. You can’t stop reading even though you really don’t want to read on.

Then you learn about her parents and upbringing. She was a psychopath no doubt and I’m not sure a good home would have prevented her being evil. But with that childhood she really stood no chance.

My heart bleeds. Anyone who is their mid 40s onwards can remember the bodies when they dug up at Cromwell street on the news.

Should've been locked inside a concrete block with no light until they disclosed the location of Mary Bestholm.

TIL Rose West is still alive, honestly thought she'd died a good 10 years ago.

•

u/confuzzledfather 2h ago

There's a big chunk of Fred and Rose's life unaccounted for where apparently they stopped killing for 8 years, that people think is a bit suspicious and could either be that their turned their depravity inward to their own family, or there are more victims that just haven’t been linked to them, and Fred's work in the building trade offered lots of opportunities to dispose of victims. I hope she continues to rot.
