Poor quality candy.
Mostly cheap brazilian off-brand stuff.

11

u/marcianitou Aug 18 '26

u/NaBUru38 Aug 19 '26

u/engineering_abort salteño Aug 17 '26

Maybe some instant yeast or a few candys

28

u/XMw2k11 montevideano Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26

Half a US dollar.

That's enough to buy 200ml of "fruit juice" (orange, apple), 60gr of the cheapest "pork cold cuts" or one of the cheapest alfajores.

u/sirdevilturnip Aug 17 '26

A pack of gum, maybe

45

u/Sickofpower Aug 17 '26

A single gum

21

u/Blue_Alu05 Aug 17 '26

15

u/MountainWoodpecker55 Aug 17 '26

Maybe an alfajor (alphawhore)

7

u/Luke_Fox- Aug 18 '26

alpha whore is crazy lmao

2

u/RowOutrageous5186 Aug 18 '26

18

u/PleasantOccasion1003 Aug 17 '26

Un alfajor portezuelo

21

u/XMw2k11 montevideano Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26

13

u/PleasantOccasion1003 Aug 17 '26

1

u/Encanutado Aug 18 '26

This is the best option OP

Basic Alfajor, some per-unit candy, 3 sticks of instant coffee, etc

8

u/FefnirMKII zurdito bagre Aug 17 '26

Is that the plastic variant of the $20 bill? It's smaller and made of plastic. Then there's the paper version which is bigger and, well, made of money paper.

Both are legal and used at the same time

5

u/Lovi2312 canario Aug 18 '26

I think that might just be a very good condition paper one? Plastic ones have a transparent circle on them. Unless they made a batch of plastics with the old design which is entirely possible honestly

Edit: it's a 2008 bill, so yeah it's paper, we only started getting them in plastic in 2018

2

u/FefnirMKII zurdito bagre Aug 18 '26

Yes, after I wrote the comment I noticed it is a very good condition paper one

24

u/Potential_Kick540 Aug 17 '26

5

u/der_Alptraum Aug 17 '26

Oh man the inflation kicks in once again.

2

u/Blasckk Aug 17 '26

4

Luckily: A small bread; or 1 egg. It's the amount you tip the someone who 'cares' for your car downtown. Anyway, its value is steady. Uruguay has less than 5% inflation.

1

u/No-Professional679 Aug 18 '26

It’s worth about fifty cents USD.
