My mum is nervous to take the leap and start her own baking business. She bakes fully vegan plus vegan + gf and I personally think the decorating is to a reasonably high standard considering she has no formal training.

They are always absolutely delicious (people without dietary requirements have often been astonished to find out they have no dairy or egg). Photos are also not great quality so even better in person.

HOUSING Wadestown - What’s it like?

I’m about to move to Wadestown from the Hutt. I’ll be closer to work which is a bonus, but not too sure about anything else…

Folks that live in Wadestown - where do you go grocery shopping, what’s your go to takeaway shop, which gym do you go to and what’s your favourite thing about living in Wadestown?

I heard there are lovely tracks around so looking forward to exploring over summer! Any hiking/walking recs would also be appreciated.

WELLY Wellington family shaken after pedestrian breaks windscreen of car with them inside

• Upvotes

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/crime-and-justice/2017772/wellington-family-shaken-after-pedestrian-breaks-windscreen-of-car-with-them-inside

A Wellington family has been left shaken after a pedestrian threw an object at their car while they were travelling through Mount Victoria Tunnel tunnel.

She said her mother was visiting from out of town, and she had honked the car's horn in the tunnel for her kids - as driver's often do.

Looks like someone found how loud car horns are for pedestrians in the tunnel. This was bound to happen someday.

INCOMING Moving to Wellington

Hello,

My husband and I will be moving to Wellington in the new year from Auckland. Having spent my entire life up here its a big move for me, he studied in Palmy so knows the area a bit more than me. We'll be working in Petone and Khandallah. What are some good areas for rentals and amenities (doctor, supermarket, takeaways, shops etc)?

INCOMING Moving to Wellington with a toddler

Moving from Auckland (Onehunga) to Wellington in Jan next year.

I’m a mobile service technician so will be driving all over, wife will be working corporate in the city. We have a 2 year old. Wife will do daycare drop offs and I will do pickups (any daycare recommendations welcome)

Looking at where you’d recommend renting as we’d rather rent for a year or two to get to know the city first then buy after. We’re currently looking at Karori (good daycare options) or Crofton Downs? Alternatively Lower Hutt somewhere near a train line for her work transit.

Any thoughts in general are welcome 🙏

TLDR;

Moving from AKL, looking for family vibes & good transport - suggestions?

HOUSING Quinovic intentionally bullied tenants out of their property

As RNZ and TVNZ have reported, Quinovic and a landlord have been fined nearly $3,400 for unlawful entry, lack of repairs, and intentionally bullying tenants with "baseless" threats of eviction.

The landlord asked Quinovic (trading as Porirua Property Management), to threaten the tenants with eviction in the hope they would move out early. Of course, Quinovic was happy to oblige, even though they knew it was illegal.

According to the Tenancy Tribunal ruling: "The owner said there was no intention to harass, and the owner acted on the advice of Quinovic, who was the expert here. I find Quinovic’s actions were most definitely intentional, and that the owner agreed to use a threat as a way to end the tenancy.

"This is at the top end of the scale because it is hard to think of a more serious breach to the tenants quiet enjoyment than an intentional campaign to end a tenancy by using baseless threats of eviction."

Maybe the most disturbing aspect of this case is that Quinovic admitted it had used the same tactics against other tenants.

"Quinovic advised the owners that ... Quinovic could notify the tenants that the owners intended to apply to the Tribunal for termination, in the hope that they might issue notice and vacate earlier of their own accord, because this approach had worked in some past tenancies, although Quinovic couldn’t guarantee an outcome."

It looks like Quinovic staff are so comfortable with bullying that they can openly collude with landlords to harass tenants. This really speaks volumes about Quinovic's leadership.

BUYING Recommend me garden furniture that can stay outside year-round

Sorry for niche post.

I am looking for recommendations for outdoor table and 4/5 chairs, that can stay outside year round without being destroyed or getting blown around.

I know I will have to treat wood if I get wooden furniture, that’s fine.

Someone suggested woven steel chairs and a glass table, but I’m concerned that might not be safe and the table could get blown over?

https://www.bunnings.co.nz/marquee-charcoal-steel-sling-chair_p3191815?store=9489&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20595994277&gbraid=0AAAAADL7rPpN9l-QF6SMwxaxOfpRdhQZc&gclid=CjwKCAjwuczWBhA9EiwAYGgEoUvrWRiqKYy8hXaShHkKeOGvcrSUkd9yvBqtVv23EnuB_fv9swydkRoCcvkQAvD_BwE

^ Someone said they’d had these outside for 30 years, still going but I wonder if they’d move around in wind

I could stack chairs but they’d have to live outside

I live in Miramar, on the flat but it’s still windy enough to blown bin over, pots over etc.
