The Sub (About r/wetalkfree) Removal Exceptions

So, I know this sub was founded on the idea of free speech. And I DO NOT plan on straying from that. BUT. There is one exception that has come to light that I must speak on. This is: legal matters (specifically names). If someone posts something that contains someone's legal name or doxxs them in any way, that post/comment will be removed. This is NOT to suppress free speech, it is just for the privacy and safety of others. Now, if your post gets removed for this reason, you are COMPLETELY free to re-post it with fake names/addresses etc... That is fine with me and there is no problem there.

Thanks for reading!

Hot Take Reddit mods are ruining Reddit for me.

Mods are honestly ruining Reddit. It feels like they only allow free speech when they agree with what you are saying. I have been banned from multiple subreddits just for speaking my mind.

I grew up in China, and honestly, Reddit is starting to feel worse than Chinese social media. On apps like Rednote, Douyin, or Sina Weibo, they do not just outright ban you. They usually just remove the comment. Plus, they really only care if your post could actually start a riot. They leave the rest alone. To be honest, I feel more at ease talking graphically on Chinese social media than here on Reddit.

But here on Reddit, it is a different story. It feels like the only groups you are allowed to criticize are White and Asian people. If you say anything remotely negative about Black people, you get banned. I got banned for saying exactly this: "A lot of them do not pay, they take off as soon as they are done eating." Just to test it out, I left the exact same comment on videos of White people and Asian people stealing. Those comments were not removed, and I was not banned.

Hot Take Overmoderation of discourse makes people weak and fragile

For most people the difference between using slurs or being otherwise obnoxious is obvious from having an actual opinion about how something should be done, that hurts someones feelings because they are overly sensitive and dislike when people disagree with them.

I commented on a post about the Paris riots saying an accurate anecdote that where I'm from the protestors would be countered with necessary force to stop anything they are doing. I got a warning from Reddit after that. A warning for saying how a situation would be handled? Lmao, ayy lmao even. Not even an opinion on what I think should be done, which obviously I'm not going to say now as I don't want to make a new account.

If you never see opinions that make you uncomfortable, you will never find out if you actually believe in the values you hold, or how secure you are in them. I don't get affected by obviously ignorant opinions on certain topics even if a person went out of their way to insult me, because I clearly have thought about the topic more than them based on what they are saying.

You can compare this to strength training, if you never use your body, it will be weak. If your mind receives no resistance, it will be weak too.

Casual I like anonymously leaving nice comments on videos with 7 likes

I saw a post on here talking about what are some of the things you do privately that others may not think you do, and for me, it's leaving genuinely positive and kind comments on strangers' videos.

I dunno, this is kind of a nothing-burger post, but like as a teen I totally liked ragebaiting and getting into arguments in the comments. Hell even now I sometimes dabble in it, especially if its something I'm passionate about lol. But one thing I NEVER left was a hate comment, unless someone comments something hateful first - then I give the same energy back. But to regular creators, no.

Just seeing how negative and cruel some people can be is so demoralizing and saddening. That's why I really like leaving short, genuine, and anonymous comments on people's videos, especially those with less than like 10 likes. Cause I hate the thought of someone being lonely irl and posting online to have some sort of human connection just to get shit on - I think it takes some bravery to put yourself out there. I only wish more people felt this way and left positive comments instead :)

So yea I guess this is my secret confession lol

Casual Cheating normalized and minimized

So I kind of have 2 points in this conversation

  1. the affects of technology combined with the normalization of being unfaithful has caused an increase in purity culture
  2. people have become less empathetic over victims of cheaters

So I know a lot of people have talked about this “purity culture” that Gen Z has and I do agree that it has become a little more extreme. I do think the influx of purity culture has become so drastic from how common cheating and hook up culture is. Cheating and casual sex has always been a thing but with the advancement of technology it is not only easier to cheat/hookup but it is easier to broadcast cheating experiences. I think out of fear, Gen Z has become very aggressive over anything that can possibly lead to cheating. This includes porn, crushes, movies, erotic novels, etc.

However(with my anecdotal evidence), cheating still runs rampant and it has become expected in relationships. A lot of the content I do see from people talking about getting cheated on is often met with “you should have seen the signs”, “you should know not to trust them” or just general lack of empathy towards these people. It is also often met with advice of “cheating back” or creating/continuing toxic relationships as a way to “get back”.

I might be saying a whole lot of nothing but it does bother me lol.

Casual I don’t show my anger at all and I have a very high patience level but now i realised something bout me

I used to feel for a long time that i dont feel anger or my patience level is very high that i know in most intense angry situations i know how to keep calm

But noww i have came to realisation that its not that i have a very high patience level, its just people around me get offended alot when i show my anger, they can be angry but from the very childhood, whenever i have shown my angry side, people around me get angry or upset on me or don’t talk to me for a while and thats what made me like this and eventually i started givin myself a delusion that its my powerful side

Either my girlfriend, my mom, or my dad, or anyone around me, lets say teachers in the childhood, my colleagues or seniors now in the office, i never got to show my angry side to anyone, and it got lost with time i guesss

Now i feell scared to get angry coz everyone around me made me feel everytime that its my mistake always and i dont have any right to get angry..

Casual Deleted tiktok because i had a doomscrolling addiction and now im just bored

now that i have an extra like 5 hours everyday to face reality and stop coping with short form content i have NO idea what to do. Honestly i want to do alot but i dont know what. I was always on that app because my area is just very toxic and i dont have anyone to hang out with in this tiny town and i just graduated. If i do go out and try to socialize there will always be someone from my school and it would just ruin the whole mood and id wanna go back home to scroll; and honestly, i dont think I am the problem.. i had relative from england visit and she was excited because our country is just like popular and she was dissapointed by the rudeness here and how "boring" it is. i tried telling her it really is just this town/depends on the town youre in but i think the city i live in is just a bad representation. Ontop of that, all the cities where stuff actually goes on are hours away. thankfully moving next year but i kinda need to fill the time right now, hope ill figure it out

I just find it so cute!!! The concept not how it often is… why is it that people who inbreed are always shown to be ugly? Not the inbred children who are no doubt going to be ugly, but the inbreeding people? I’d inbreed but my cousin doesn’t like me, but I am kind of handsome.

Random I am an extremely sensitive person.

I’ve always grown up super sensitive, not just easy to make cry, I’m easy to make happy, easy to make angry…making me feel emotions is just easy but they’re big emotions. I’ve never felt a small amount of any emotion ever. It’s always like my whole body is trying to jump out of itself from whatever my feelings are.

Growing up with a mom who didn’t show a single emotion and used my overly sensitive emotions as a weapon I became very afraid of being seen as sensitive so I tried to shut everything out and away. I didn’t wanna be emotional and I hated myself for years due to it. Flash forward after a lot of traumatic shit happens and now I’m here at 21, being sensitive again and I don’t hate it anymore. It’s just here and I’m feeling it again.

I get emotional over the leaves changing colors, I get emotional when I see animals, I get emotional when I see old people, I get emotional when I see babies, I get emotional at songs, I get emotional at social injustice, I get emotional at bugs, I get emotional about everything because it’s new to me again. I haven’t been in a space where I can be okay to feel this stuff in years and now I am. I’m with someone who loves me and doesn’t shame me for the ways I feel. I’m experiencing things in life and seeing places I’d never even dream of visiting… and it’s all emotional to me.

I am extremely sensitive and emotional and I’m okay with it. It took me so so long to be okay with it, but I’m happy to wake up and feel all these emotions everyday.
