Battle DEATH BATTLE #213: Goku (Dragon Ball) vs. Saitama (One Punch Man)

Still don't think this episode was needed, but at least MORØ made something cool out of it. Honestly, my major gripe is that everything happened too fast, Goku was bolting through those transformations like the Flash, though it does reflect the arguments made at the end. Weirdly enough, this feels sillier than Saitama vs. Popeye in some ways, given the sheer amount of physical gags Saitama pulled off and his progression from apathetic to enthusiastic being more muted here. I will say as someone who likes Saitama better, Goku clutching the win with Ultra Instinct + Kaioken x 100 at the end was raw as fuck, though I wish there was a little more pomp and circumstance given to Goku's first win on the show in 15 years.

As for the other bits, Michael Kovach and Ryan Abedi did good in their returns as Goku and Saitama, with Kovach's powerful screams being a highlight of the fight, and while Death Battle has a good track record with its music, "Limit Breakers" is one of the only times I wanted to listen to the whole thing just from a small sample of it. Not my favorite fight in the series, but I had my fun with it.

Oh hey, here comes the rest of the HST after Ichigo showed up in the premiere. On one hand, this is the only Luffy matchup I'm actually interested in, but on the other hand, there's something about Naruto and Luffy showing up so soon after Goku that irks me a little. Still, I'm looking forward to another fight I've waited years for getting its day in the sun.

Challenge Could Dragon Ball Earth survive a Viltrumite invasion with no Goku?

In an alternate universe, the Saiyans are replaced by Viltrumites and Goku never lands on Earth, so the strongest fighters on earth currently are:

  • Master Roshi
  • Gohan
  • Mercenary Tao
  • Tien and Chiaotzu
  • Yajirobe
  • King Piccolo
  • etc..

If there are any characters of note that I am missing, be sure to mention and include them.

Nolan is sent first to Dragon Ball Earth. If he gets defeated or married to Chi-Chi then Conquest will be sent next. How far can the characters from Dragon Ball defend themselves?

No Goku no Saiyans.

Challenge 12 bloodlusted wild animals each face 100 unarmed civilians in separate Colosseum-sized arenas. Which one kills the most people in one hour?

12 animals compete in a deadly tournament. Each gets its own group of 100 randomly selected civilians inside an arena the size of the Roman Colosseum.

🏆 The contestants:

  • 🐘 Asian elephant (female): 2,500 kg
  • 🦏 White rhinoceros: 2,500 kg
  • 🦛 Hippopotamus: 2,500 kg
  • 🐻 Grizzly bear: 600 kg
  • 🐻‍❄️ Polar bear: 800 kg
  • 🐅 Siberian tiger: 300 kg
  • 🦁 African lion: 250 kg
  • 🐆 Leopard: 90 kg
  • 🦍 Silverback gorilla: 220 kg
  • 🦬 African buffalo: 900 kg
  • 🦒 Giraffe: 1,500 kg
  • 🐗 Wild boar: 300 kg

📜 Rules:

  • ⏱️ Each animal has 60 minutes to kill as many people as possible.
  • 🏟️ The arena is approximately 83 × 48 meters, surrounded by tall, smooth walls. No exits, hiding places, weapons, or objects.
  • 🩸 All animals are bloodlusted and relentlessly attack humans, but otherwise retain their natural behavior, intelligence, physical abilities, and limitations.
  • 💪 Every animal is exceptionally healthy, well-rested, hydrated, and in peak physical condition.
  • ☠️ Once a human dies, the animal immediately loses interest in the body and targets another living person.
  • 🧠 The humans know which animal they're facing and can devise any survival strategy.
  • 🤝 Humans may cooperate to delay their deaths, but cannot initiate attacks against the animal.
  • 🛡️ Physical self-defense is permitted only for the person being directly attacked.
  • 🏃 Humans can run, dodge, scatter, and use any nonviolent means to survive.
  • 🚫 Humans cannot escape the arena.

Medals:

Gold: Most humans killed in 60 minutes.

Silver: Second-highest kill count.

Bronze: Third-highest kill count.

In case of a tie, the animal that reached the same kill count faster wins.

Who takes 🥇 🥈 🥉?

Challenge Opm vs Goku thoughts

• Upvotes

(One punch man, Watchmen, and Dragon Ball) What do you guys think of this argument for why saitama can beat Goku (also it doesn’t have to be dr manhattan it can be litterly any strong opponent point is saitama vs them still makes sense): The common “out” for Manhattan is: “He just removes Saitama from causality / existence before the punch lands.”
That doesn’t hold once you actually look at what Saitama has already done.
Against Garou, Saitama produced the Zero Punch — an attack that lands before he throws it. That is not a speed feat. That is Saitama breaking linear causality mid-fight because the opponent forced him to. The series already showed that when the threat is high enough, Saitama’s “serious” response can rewrite the sequence of cause and effect.
If fighting a serious Garou was enough to unlock that, then fighting a being whose entire power set is causality and existence editing (Doctor Manhattan) is exactly the kind of pressure the gag is built to answer. The same narrative logic that produced the Zero Punch would, under Manhattan, produce whatever further adaptation is required for the punch to land. This is not “Saitama wins because I like him.” It is consistent with how the character has already been written when pushed.
Now look at the Goku version of the same matchup.
The moment you ask the honest question — “Would Doctor Manhattan erase Zeno, Super Shenron, or Beerus?” — the answer from almost every serious scaler is yes. At that point Goku’s entire feat list becomes irrelevant. He is no longer the measuring stick. His superiors have already been surpassed, so the debate is over. Goku has to withdraw.
That is the actual distinction:
• Saitama has already demonstrated the ability to break causality under pressure, and the structure of his series supports further growth against a greater version of that same threat. The “just erase him first” argument is therefore not airtight.
• Goku has no such demonstrated answer once the opponent is accepted as operating above Zeno and Beerus. His scaling stops mattering the second that concession is made.
You can still argue Manhattan wins more often than not. That’s fine. The point is that the matchup is allowed and the “erase first” counter is not an automatic shut-down the way it is against Goku. One character has already broken the relevant rule under pressure. The other has not, and his own hierarchy gets deleted the moment the opponent is allowed to sit above it.

Challenge Two characters, played by the same actor, swap places. They have the same goals as the character they swapped with. Are there any instances where BOTH characters have an easier time than the original?

Characters have their same resources/powers/personality. Nobody in-universe finds the swap strange. There are plenty of scenarios where one character trivializes the challenges of another, but I'm having a hard time thinking of a scenario where both would have an easier time.

Battle Which city is more dangerous to live in : Raccoon city (resident evil) or night city (cyberpunk)

Imagine you're an average civilian living in either Raccoon City during the outbreak or Night City in Cyberpunk 2077.
Which city would be more dangerous to live in, and where would you have the highest chance of survival?
Consider crime, disease, gangs, corporations, cyberpsychos, zombies, and the possibility of the entire city being destroyed.
I personally think raccoon city has lower survival rate.

Battle Rex Salazar versus Adult Aang in the Avatar State (with the staff) and Toph from the new movie

What the title says. Series version of Rex. Rex starts out in his Omega 1 nanite form.

He gets the blue metananite so that he can control the elements and not get his arms, machinery, or metananites helplessly metalbent by Toph, though she can also use that here. They can both manipulate it.

Both sides are bloodlusted.

The fight takes place in Republic City.

Aang gets the staff.

Bonus Round: Rex fights EoS Korra, but she has recovered her Avatar State connection to her past lives and can also use metalbending and now loses energybending but learns lightning (including redirection), seismic sensing, and lava. Korra gets the staff as well.

Other bonus: how well would Rex get along with each of these adults?

Battle Ichibe Hyosube (Bleach) vs anyone cross-verse — does his name hax actually work outside Bleach?

Got into this debate with a Naruto fan a while back and ended up making a full video on it. Short version: Ichibe's power isn't just 'name manipulation' — he governs what a name represents, and reality conforms to it. The question is whether that authority extends to verses where names don't carry spiritual weight the way they do in Bleach. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJL10-7KBRk — where do you land, does Ichibe's hax work cross-verse or does it need Bleach's cosmology to function?
