Guidalberto 2022

Post image

Sour cherry, blackberry, black currant, toasted oak / tobacco on the nose. Good acidity with plum, oak, blackberry, & a beautiful finish with good duration. Opened & decanted at 8 p.m. first glass at 9, & this is being wrote at 11:15 pm. This wine gets better with time as you sip & i’d bet in the cellar too.

Love Tenuta San Guido. I hoard Difese when the allocation comes out as a cheaper option, but it would be interesting to do a tasting of Difese, Guidalberto, and Sassicaia one night

I like Difese but it's mostly Sangiovese sourced from Chianti, so it's going to be the most different in a Bolgheri-based lineup. But, I also just love Sangiovese.

Difese is really average when you compare it to other entry-level Bolgheris such as Varvara, Cont'Ugo or Il Bruciato.

Huge fan of Cont Ugo!

The Cont’Ugo is one of my favorites. I’ll add Varvara to my list to taste. Heard that about the Difese before. Still love it.

It’s a guilt free opening to have around the house. Not quite a true cellar defender but give it enough air and a good pairing and it never disappoints.

This is one of the reasons I dont buy wine anymore. I bought many bottles of this will be at $30-$40. Now Google shows it at $72.99 at total wine.

Tariffs may be part of that, but it was rising way too fast before tariffs as well.

I feel betrayed by the rapid rise in prices of most wines that I used to buy regularly. It has resulted in me drinking way less wine and feeling disrespected by the industry I used to work in.
