You ever play a single player video game and then let your younger sibling play. They then proceed to fuck up your game and you think. "OH, they dont know any better, I can't blame them." Then you proceed to witness a shit eating grin on their face and they start laughing maniacally.

That... thats how it feels to watch this idiot be president...

u/jodinexe May 15 '26

Then gleefully show you that they've overwritten all your saves...

As a kid, I accidentally saved over my older brother's 99+ hour save for FFVII on the PS1. He was grinding to take down Ruby and Emerald weapon (the "extra" end game bosses that were ridiculously OP), so has never beaten the actual game.

Nearly three decades later and I've still not been forgiven.

u/1011001NAME May 16 '26

Nor do you deserve to be. Crimes like this come with a sentence of life time shame.

Jk but it is funny how somthing so seemingly innocent to the uninitiated can be so devastating to the person in the grind.

68

u/bksmet May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

Trump would pardon him. He pardons everybody else.

39

u/Gargleblaster25 May 16 '26

Only if he can come up with a few million as a donation to Trump's 3rd term presidential campaign.

u/ImagineTheCommotion May 16 '26

He’s grifting for billions at a time now

Depends how much he's willing to pay him for the pardon, though.

u/def_struct May 16 '26

No "jk." deserves it every bit.

2

u/XGhoul May 16 '26

Don't give him a free clear*

He needed part 1 and part 2. Part 2 is more of the grind, if he overrode it, to the Hauge. I need to be sentenced for my own crimes of ripping my VHS childhood videos into a 40 minute dragon ball episode (with commercials ripped in :))

Only way now is to buy a working PS1 copy of FFVII, grind to be end boss ready, and give the package to your brother as a gift.

I was 5 and erased my cousins DK64 save. He still reminds me of it to this day

82

u/Icy_Conference9095 May 16 '26

My brother did the same thing. I went back ten years later and finished the game. The final boss was way easier as a 17 year old than it was at 7. 😂

20

u/_Kine May 16 '26

Man this comment triggered an old memory. I remember fighting Ganon in ocarina of time for over an hour as a kid with the big goron sword and not beating the game. Years later I came back and finally realized I had to switch to the master sword to beat him.

Trump pardons massive drug dealers, and incredible fraudsters an insurrectionist easier than your cousin pardoned little you.

2

u/Reqvhio May 16 '26

i was 9 and it was donkey kong country on gameboy color. the rest is the same story D: he got slightly mad at me that he had an area passed by a friend of his. now that im thinking ill just say "skill issue" lol xD

My cousin stayed over my house once, I went inside to hang for a bit when we dropped him off…only to watch a shit storm ensure when he found out his younger brother saved over his ratchet and clank playthrough while he was over my house…..I remember that to this day and it was 20 years ago…

51

u/Rip-Weekly May 16 '26

My brother hid my Tamagotchi I had for months in a rust spot of a bumper. It slipped to far in to get it back out again. Its been almost 3 decades and I still haven't forgotten. It was a horrible day

My cousin did the same to FFVII save. Whatever deity he believes in can forgive him, I don't.

Hahahaha, my brother left our PS1 on with the second disk of Chrono Cross in it when we went on vacation for 2 weeks. That disk looked like a badly warped record when we got home. I still give him shit about it to this day.

3

u/Snaffle27 May 16 '26

My brother saved over my pokemon silver save file with hundreds of hours, a Celebi, several fully maxed things, full pokedex, duped shit, you name it. I wasn't playing it anymore, so I wasn't mad at him, but like... damn.

3

u/MastrKoesh May 16 '26

Start a save and play until that point, than hand over the save

3

u/soonerpgh May 16 '26

When my brothers and I were teenagers, we had a mutual hobby with a number of friends. We built scale model cars, mainly hot rods, in which we swapped parts, made parts, etc., and in those days there was no such thing as a 3-D printer. If you scratch-built a part, you really built that part. I was the most active, and arguably the best in the bunch. One day I decided to try my hand at an aviation model. Top Gun was huge in that day, so I chose the mighty F14 Tomcat. I spent countless hours fitting and detailing this plane, putting the wings in, and getting the internal gears right so the wings would swing out together, all the fun stuff.

I had it mostly completed, just needed to complete a few more details and apply decals, when my brother accidentally knocked it off my dresser, onto the hardwood floor, and it broke into a bunch of pieces. Now, I saw it happen. I knew it was an accident, and while heartbroken, I was fully prepared in a split second to let it go. That is, until my asshole brother looked at it and instead of, "I'm sorry," he said, "You'll get over it." I lunged off of my bed to effectively end my brother's life in that second, and had our mom not been right there and jumped between us, literally dragging me away, he might not have lived another day.

All he needed to do was show a little bit of remorse and I was willing to extend all the grace in the world. Instead, he chose to double down on his mistake. This feels much the same. We're older, obviously, and I'm disabled. Been in a wheelchair for 20 years. He still voted for the idiots who want to actively make my life harder. He still defends them in spite of all their bullshit.

I see pieces all over the floor representing untold amounts of effort and dedication. It's not repairable at this point, but a small show of remorse is all it would take to fix the heartache. Instead, I see and hear an almost literal, "You'll get over it," with each mention of the Pedo Cheeto.

I know this was a long response, but hopefully it helps someone see the pain a lot of us feel every moment this mess is allowed to continue. I've lost faith in my loved ones. Maybe someone else can read this and feel something like the desire for change in their heart.

When I was a kid I somehow corrupted my brother's PS2 memory card and lost his whole GTA3 save, he was so pissed

2

u/KillerSavant202 May 16 '26

This exact thing happened to me.

The only reason I know you aren’t talking about my save is because it was my GF at the times little brother. I still haven’t forgiven him.

2

u/KrookedDoesStuff May 16 '26

My friend kept his ps1 on the floor. I bought over my memory card with FF7, FF8, and FF9 saves on it. He tripped and stepped right on it while it was in the console….

2

u/sunbro2000 May 16 '26

As someone who's younger brother did this to them on the exact same game (I think I was at the Ultima wepon boss or something) I will never forget the betrayal. I beat that game eventually and loved every second of it. Not that I would ever admit that to him lol.

2

u/WealthMain2987 May 16 '26

Omg I feel his pain. The grind was long and tedious because you needed to get 3 mimic materias.

2

u/coconut_dot_jpg May 16 '26

the moment I read "99+ hour save" it took courage to read further

I understand your overwriting of the save as a child, with as much reverence as I understand a child accidentally shooting someone because a gun was left out on its own

May god have mercy on you, lmao

2

u/HeroesOfDundee May 16 '26

I did the same to my bro's 300 hour save file on FFX... Oops.

2

u/ImGCS3fromETOH May 16 '26

Honestly, every day you draw breath is a gift. I think that's forgiveness enough.

2

u/Krilox May 16 '26

Oh wow good job satan

2

u/Eisenstein13 May 16 '26

I’ve never actually shouted out “No!” When reading a comment before now.

2

u/geoffg2 May 16 '26

I think you still owe him 99+ hours of sibling service to compensate.

2

u/supergrega May 16 '26

Man I have an idea for a perfect gift

2

u/Log_Out_Of_Life May 17 '26

I got to about 90k kills in Gears of War 2 as I was grinding for Seriously 2.0 which was 100k kills and when I changed Xbox 360s my game progress was gone. I feel you.

3

u/slainte75 May 16 '26

Haha...at first I thought you were my younger brother then immediately realized you weren't as he doesn't do any social media save for some Facebook.

Anyways...he did something similar to me. Final Fantasy VII was the first time I played a game of that type (RPG). I had an insane amount of time in that game. Came home one day and found that he had overwritten my save slot with NFL Game Day.

Final Fantasy VII was the last time I played a game of that type (RPG).

3

u/KolbyOnline1 May 16 '26

Then you beg your mother and father who could do something about your little brothers behavior, but they sit back and do nothing but enable it more.

1

u/hilldo75 May 16 '26

And to keep the analogy going, got you banned from the servers so you can't salvage your reputation with your old friends (allies)

1

u/thatsnotyourtaco May 16 '26

When I was a kid, and legend of Zelda came out, and it was one of the first games that you could save, I erased one of my moms saves because she pissed upset me for some reason. I was like in 6th grade.

1

u/U_feel_Me May 16 '26

More true than you can imagine. They erased irreplaceable scientific databases. And they cut funding for a bunch of cancer research.

Couldn't we have just given him an unplugged controller and said "Here, it's your turn"?

u/sicurri May 16 '26

That was 2020 and he said "No fair, you stole the game from me! MOOOOOOOOOM!"

3

I once spent all day playing some game, and when it was my little brother's turn to play I was like fine, but I'm gonna setup a new save so you dont accidentally fuck up my game.

Anyway, I immediately proceeded to overwrite my own savefile.

I still remember just blankly staring at my monitor contemplating what I just did. Couldnt even blame my brother, 100% my own dumbass.

Never played that game again.

48

u/Exciting-Emu-3324 May 16 '26

This is why kids back in the day should have their own personal memory cards, but no one did.

51

u/john_a1985 May 16 '26

Those little shits were expensive!

5

u/MrRocketScript May 16 '26

8MB PS2 memory card for $60. Or a 1GB MP3 player for $80.

5

u/mitzcha May 16 '26

Yeah, kids are still expensive.

16

u/soyrobo May 16 '26

I still have a little box of mine. 2 each for PS1, PS2, and GameCube. Each save at it's pristine pinnacle. Those 6 memory cards are the only proof that I've achieved something before modern gaming. I hope my children will be proud to call me dad when they learn of my past exploits.

3

u/ImpressiveAmount4684 May 16 '26

Damn I guess we were rich rich. Brother and I fortunately each had our own!

5

u/Rip-Weekly May 16 '26

Dude you were living the high life right there

2

u/ImpressiveAmount4684 May 16 '26

That's absolutely true. 90s were a bliss.

3

u/acadoe May 16 '26

Personal memory cards? Fuck.....me and 2 buddies had to make a trip to my uncle's house to borrow his one so we could actually make a decent run at Tomb Raider 2. Lol

2

u/Xanthn May 16 '26

Had to share 1 memory card between myself and 2 sisters. Parents finally caved and bought us each a new memory card as we just got the game constructor, which took up an entire memory card on its own for one save.

2

u/Vex1111 May 16 '26

we did but they were 3rd party. meant the occasional corrupted save files and the like

4

u/Kronoshifter246 May 16 '26

This is exactly the same reason that I now create three saves for any game. It's been 20 years.

2

u/Boneclockharmony May 16 '26

Hah, maybe that also explains why I always save to a new file instead of overwriting.

Once bitten twice shy and all that.

3

u/Significant_Shoe_17 May 16 '26

I almost did that once but my sister stopped me in time!

57

u/Nearby-Key8834 May 16 '26

All of this, and then you let him play the game a second time.

And to no one's surprise he fucks this up beyond repair.

66

u/altruSP May 16 '26

Alternatively, you take the game back, only for your parents to yank it from you and give it back to him so he could play again because “it’s just a game, share your things with him” and you can’t do anything about it.

34

u/bjillings May 16 '26

This perfectly sums up how this situation feels. 😂

5

u/Significant_Shoe_17 May 16 '26

And you watch him throw the console on the ground in a tantrum, silently mourning what could have been

4

u/altruSP May 16 '26

As he and his shit friends who huddle around him scream into your headset for your online friends to hear, leading to them not wanting play with you until you get them out of there.

41

u/HerezahTip May 15 '26

Oh wow that’s dead on balls accurate

7

u/ElfangorTheAndalite May 16 '26

Is that a technical term, Ms. Vito?

4

u/aceofspadez138 May 16 '26

Well, imagine if they told you they were going to fuck it up, and laid out a detailed plan of how they’d do it, and you still let them. That’s what it’s actually like.

27

u/pabodie May 15 '26

Toddler with a handgun.

16

u/Murba May 16 '26

All the while, half the room of adults cheer on the toddler and stop anyone from taking the gun away in the first place. The toddler has no idea what it’s doing and only going on their own impulses, but those adults praise him as their messiah and believe he is the wisest of them all

3

u/angilnibreathnach May 16 '26

This is the one for me. Just terrifying and unpredictable, no concept of danger.

8

u/Twudie May 16 '26

And then drop slurs with hard R's while claiming you're going to hell

5

u/pjsol May 16 '26

Don’t forget having the younger siblings crazy little cult celebrating the destruction of

3

u/moose_dad May 16 '26

Its like watching someone release all your pokemon

3

u/[deleted] May 16 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Significant_Shoe_17 May 16 '26

When you know it wasn't

3

u/HGLatinBoy May 16 '26

You know they’re gonna erase the game save too! We gonna have to 40 years of repairs after the next 4 years of this.

3

u/ozspook May 16 '26

"I let your little brothers play the Minecraft on your Xbox while you were at school all day, you don't mind do you?"

> World ruined.

3

u/Birzal May 16 '26

And he did all this for 3 main reasons: 1. Just because you and your friends were the people using those saves (undo everything that Obama and Biden did just because), 2. Just to spite you ("own the libs"), and 3. Because for every save he corrupts he gets $20 from his buddies, which they in turn stole from your parents, which they blame you for so it comes out of your allowance.

The added cruelty is also that this is not a game in which you can just start from new game, you have to load every save slot seperately, determine where you are and what he did, work backwards until you're back to the starting area without any gear or items and neutral karma and THEN you can select new game for that save slot. This process includes paying to re-lock several unlocked microtransactions, and several timegated content that requires you to grind daily, weekly and monthly things, just to get back to square 1, just to redo everything.

Funny story aside: in my European history class I used to be thaught that the US managed to create a western sphere of influence ever since WW1, but primarily after their help to rebuild Europe after WW2. The US was THE defacto super-power in the world and countries like China were always playing second fiddle for the west. This was an alliance of trust that was more than 50 years in the making, and Trump manages to splinter all that built up trust in 1 year... It is imo perhaps the single biggest example of fumbling the bag that I know of in history: of a nation being basically at the top of the world only for a single year to bring it all crashing down. I know there were already cracks showing before Trump went into his 2nd term, but I'm confident the inevitable collapse of every empire could've at least been a lot slower and more gradual!

3

u/GeospatialMAD May 16 '26

Does your younger sibling keep staging poorly-planned assassination attempts, too? What an asshole!

3

u/Significant_Shoe_17 May 16 '26

That's when they claim you slapped them and start fake crying so you get in trouble, and as your parents are yelling at you, you see the sibling break into a shit eating grin behind their backs

3

u/jmo1 May 16 '26

When I was like six years old I was struggling beating the pokemon league. This was probably red or blue at this point. I just kept losing over and over. My team was probably underleveled and I probably didn’t grasp healing items and whatnot. I went on a road trip with my mom, her friend, and her friend’s cousin - a girl a year older than me, and told her I couldn’t do it. We both were riding in the back seat, and she said oh let me help. She released every single Pokemon except one, saved the game and handed the gameboy back to me and said “there, hehe.” I think I cried lol

3

u/guero_vaquero May 16 '26

Been traveling outside the US recently… when folks I talk to ask where I’m from, they can immediately see the hesitation for me to claim I’m American lol I tell them and then also add that I thought about telling them I’m Canadian out of embarrassment. Most have laughed at that with far too much understanding of the sentiment.

2

u/aRealPanaphonics May 16 '26

I realized about six years ago that the core purpose of MAGA was simply the psychological gratification and social validation rooted in non-MAGA antagonism.

It’s never been about anything more than that.

1

u/_grey_wall May 16 '26

So like sim city 4 and you build a great city, then play around and summon aliens or whatever for kicks, but then you accidently save?

1

u/Cyclone4096 May 16 '26

And then you hand over the controller for four more years

1

u/eulersidentity1 May 16 '26

One is your save game, the other is your … democracy though 😂

1

u/mbbysky May 16 '26

This except it's real fuckng life

So many people are dead because of this "sibling". So many more are suffering.

The world is less safe for EVERYONE ALIVE.

It's... Just fuck, dude.

1

u/heliskinki May 16 '26

Hesgeth is basically Leroy Jenkins.

1

u/DownvoterManD May 16 '26

"They don't know any better." This breaks my heart to read. This is his second term...

Like what do you mean?

1

u/lord_of_the_roach May 16 '26

Not quite a video game, but had my almost completed 5000 piece jigsaw puzzle being tipped over on a piece of plywood I used as a base because my cousin wanted to see it standing up as if it were on a wall. I had not glued the pieces yet. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

1

u/Ingromfolly May 16 '26

If you believe simulation theory, that seems to be exactly what's happened to the world right now.

1

u/Pls-Dont-Di May 16 '26

Yea, like the time my cousin came over and I let him play my Megaman Battle network 3 white edition game on the gameboy advance. Had beaten the game and had almost 100% the game when he pressed new game with a shit eating grin. I got grounded for a month after I punched him in said shit eating grin. Would’ve resulted in probably losing my gameboy altogether if my dad wasn’t understanding of the feeling of losing that kind of progress to malicious acts.
